thank you to everyone writing in a review; I was really happy to find the cheap rates that Nemo offered; but now I will steer well clear of them due to the sorry experiences that other people have suffered through them.

25,000 consolisation loan, no fees not like freedom who wanted to charge over 2,000 for finding a nemo loan when u can do it yourself on line.all details sent in post with time to consider, second papers sent out needing witness, all parties on application contacted and talked through details of loan to be sure of payments etc. 25,000 over 10years £292 a month at 7.4% interest much cheaper than credit card interest and excisting loan so pleased with outcome.liked the clear paper work and list of questions, also clear about charges and early repayments etc. lots of negative feedback made me doubtful at first and the variable rate but after talking it through with advisor and having it in writing i was very clear about what i signed up for, negative reviews tend to be if people had trouble paying back loan but at the end of the day its a business lending money.....

Great to see a employer writing reviews for Nemo.

only a customer giving an honest opinion based on my experience.

can I please have your email address im trying to take a loan out with Nemo now but they asking for registration fee R750 and it says nemo south Africa the Managing director/Owner of Nemo Financial Loan Company (that's the name on my documents that they email me) is this the same company?
Written on: 09/08/2014
STAY AWAY FROM THEM THEY ARE SHARKS. YOU GO WITH THEM YOU ARE BAIT AND THEY HAVE YOU.
Written on: 15/08/2013
Whoever wrote this either works for Nemo or is associated with Nemo. They are a shocking company. They get their claws in to you and then reel you in hiking the variable rate irrespective of market conditions & the BofE base rate. My advice to anyone is to stay away from these un-ethical blood sucking parasites.
Written on: 16/08/2013
i can only state that my rate has not gone up to date with both loans i have had with nemo, and an example was given on illustration if rate went up by a certain percent.........just my experience NOTHING to do with company.............
Written on: 09/08/2014
I totally agree with you. They have got me and I'm fighting them. The Judge should read these comments on this company and see what they are doing to people. THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN NOW.
Written on: 08/08/2013
would you reccomend Nemo Finance? Only I was thinking of taking at a secured loan for £18000 but reading all the awful reviews, it really worried. Can you advise please, it would be much appreciated
Written on: 16/08/2013
no-one can really recomend a loan for someone else as all circumstances are so different, the only advice i have is to see what all available laons are to you and then take into account intersest rate, term of loan, penalties etc and with all the info make the best judgmnt which suits your needs thinking about repayment amount and your job security etc as these loan companys are all in the business of making money whatever company you use. just be informed and do plenty of checks before making a desision..read the small print as this trips people up when things go wrong and then they blame the company, only my opinion not advising you to take a loan as i say no one can do that....
Written on: 09/08/2014
STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

Thinking of taking a loan out with Nemo but just concerned with the variable interest rate. Has your interest rate stayed the same or gone up? any feedback would be helpful. thanks
Written on: 16/08/2013
rate has always stayed the same, would not be good business to put up rates especially as bank rate is so low all customers would go elswhere and financial services would investigate if not justifiable. (this is what the advisor told me when i asked when applying)

GONE RIGHT UP. THEY WANT MORE MONEY OFF YOU AND IF YOU FALL IN TO TROUBLE THEY DON'T CARE THEY WANT YOUR HOME.

After borrowing on a secured loan - the crash of 2010 has since me lose my job, and none likely my house. Falling into financial problems meant major cuts ALL creditors were helpful except Nemo. Their arrogant and bullying has broken my wife to a nervous wreak. Bleeding us dry. They simply won't listen or care. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH

We took a 20grand loan out with Nemo in 2007, paying them back 250 each month. In 2012 the PPI claims surfaced so we decided to claim ours back after getting charged it on our loan after 9 long months we were successfully and the full amount less simple interest was credited to our Nemo account, so after 5 years worth off payments and 6.5grand was credited we still owed 18.5grand!! In January 2013 we sold our property for £130,000 we owed £120,000 on mortgage and £2000 on solicitors & estate agent fees so we had 8,000 profit from the sale but we owed Nemo 18,000. We have been upfront with Nemo from the start & told them we couldn't pay the full amount back, they have been very very unhelpful telling us one thing then another. They can stop the sale of our housed going ahead if they dong agree to changing the remainder of the secured loan to unsecured, they sent us a letter asking for lots of information which we supplied them with, in the mean time our buyers wanted to move and we told Nemo this, still 4 weeks later they ring us up asking us for more information!! Then promising us a reply within 5 days, they are playing with our lives here we can not do ang thing until they agree to puting the remainder of the secured loan to unsecured, Nemo called us today & said they needed another bit of information from us & yet again if would be another week b4 they decided,we'd told them if you don't get back to us in 48 hours we have no option but to hand the keys in to our mortgage company and leave the property and you will get nothing. We are waiting a reply the 48 hous are up Monday morning, let's see what happens. We would rather hand our keys in & rent then have a company dictate to us when we can move & sell our house, NEMO You can go to hell.

Thanks for all the reviews. I did an online search for loans and was just about to apply as it had good rates, but decided to do a quick check on this company - and thank God I did!!! Reading these reviews terrified me... I see there is one rogue comment giving them a 5 star rating, obviously this is a fake comment written by an employee. Do you checks people - I'm so glad I did!

Nemo finance are very happy to lend you money but its a very different story when you have any financial difficulty. After my marriage broke down I struggled to pay my bills and had 2 small children. Every company was helpful apart from nemo! I was told they would take me to court and apply to repossess my home. It's a complete joke I borrowed 10,000 and have paid back over 14,000 yet I still owe them nearly 5,000 how is that???? I pay £50 a month and £31 of that is interest it's truly shocking!! I do not know how they can treat people like this. No matter how bad you need money problems are never ever borrow from nemo as your problems will end up a whole lot worse!!
Written on: 27/11/2012
I find it disgraceful that this firm has not at least frozen the interest on this loan, given this ladies circumstances. Have they not already made enough from her? Shame on you, Nemo!
Written on: 26/07/2014
I wish I knew then what I know now about them I would not have gone with them, They are bullies. People who have had a loan from them and who are being threatened should get together and take them to court and see what we can do,

Do not ever use Nemo, this is the first time I have ever entered a review on anything on the internet but feel so strongly about how bad this company is that I hope mine and the other reveiws here stop other people making the same mistake I did. I borrowed £24k when I was desperate in 2007 (secured against my property)and have paid off £17.5k only to be told that I still owe £22k. I don't know how this can be legal because it's quite simply astounding how they can charge so much interest. I feel very foolish for having got myself embroilled with them in the first place. In addition their tactics to hound you for any late payments is, as another reviewer accurately describes, like a bunch of thugs. I have recently lost my job and tried to agree reduced payments (not stopping payments, just reduced) for a period of time until I get another job. They have been calling at all hours and sending numerous letters and when I have spoken to them they have been quite threating in their manner to make me prove that I am unable to pay the full monthly payments for a short time. Please do not ever be tempted to use them, speak to a debt management company like Payplan who are like a dream compared to Nemo!!
written by on 31/05/2012
NEVER , NEVER BORROW FROM NEMO, EVER !!!! Borrowed against my House, lost my job EVERY lender was understanding except for Nemo, they are no better than thugs who turn up on your doorstep. The bully boy attic they use were totally un-acceptable.

I applied for a loan with Nemo against my property and after giving them everything they asked for and being told in the morning by the agency that put me onto them that everything was fine and should receive my payment in a couple of days, they called me in the afternoon asking me to send my wifes passport (is this company real?) I went this morning to my building society very helpful and a lot cheaper payments than nano.

borrowed £30000 paid it for five year asked them for a settlement figure they told me £48000 ...stear well clear
Written on: 04/08/2011
18000 how can that be
Written on: 22/08/2011
Is the redemption figure of £18K extra in line with your original key Facts Illustration - usually the interest rate and the redemption penalty is stated on this and should prove that the £18K extra is incorrect.
Written on: 06/08/2011
i can prove this to any one who wants to see this in writing ?
Written on: 04/08/2011
I just asked nemo for redemption figure on my 25000 loan taken 30 months ago and apron figure including solicitors fees was 26150 ... Of course that has still to come in writing ! Why is there such a massive variation?

I borrowed £15k on my property in 2005 with Nemo, whist running a small business, as my business partner withdrew a few months after I took the loan, the business stsrted to suffer, for various reasons. By early 2006 I realised that my business would not be as profitable as it should be and I was financially suffering, I decided to put my property on the market to pay all my debts off so I could start again, I accepted an offer on the property, and waited for a total of 8 months before I fell into negative equity, because Nemo could not get of their asses to make a decision to let me sell and pay them back, even their solicitor was on the phone to my solicitor saying they could not understand the vindictiveness. One week they would let me exchange contracts, then they changed their mind, then they changed their mind again, until they decided they would take their chance with a repossession as the property should have risen in value by then.
Ironically I had a letter from the estate agents congratulating me with the house sale.
In the end anyone who is in business, should be happy to cut their losses when faced with such a situation, but not Nemo.
Avoid them at all cost!!!
Written on: 11/08/2014
You took it out a year before me. Did they take your house.
Written on: 08/10/2014
It was repossessed by the mortgage company, because of Nemo finance constantly messing me about, and my understanding was that nemo received nothing from the property. (Which I am pleased about). I moved away, I declared myself Bankrupt (also due to other debts) which was sadly the best thing I had done for myself in years. I asked the official receiver if Nemo had ever replied to any of their communication, and the reply was no. Sums their attitude up, but also that their own solicitor got in touch (back in 06) to apologise for their attitude, it really speaks volumes about that company.

WE USED NEMO WHEN WE NEEDED TO BORROW SOME MONEY TO DO SOME HOME IMPROVEMENTS AND PAY OFF SOME OTHER CREDIT CARD DEBT. THE PROCESS OF APPLICATION WAS SO SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD AND WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE OUR MONEY VERY QUICKLY. WE WERE DEALT WITH PLEASANTLY AND EFFECTIVELY AND NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR THEM. WE HAVE JUST SETTLED OUR LOAN EARLY AND AGAIN, UNLIKE OTHER COMPANIES WHO DID NOT WANT US TO PAY OUR DEBTS OFF, THEY COULD NOT DOO ENOUGH TO HELP. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WISHING TO GET A SECURED LOAN.

This review in CAPITAL LETTERS has to be written by an employee of Nemo or someone associated with Nemo. I dont believe for one minute that this is a happy customer.
Written on: 09/08/2014
I totally agree with you they must get their employees to write on this. they are ROBBERS and must be STOPPED and NOW.

Nemo Finance DO NOT allow you to pay off your loan early!

Is this review based on a true story? I strongly doubt it. If you're contemplating borrowing from these people, I suggest you pause to wonder why they need to stoop to these tactics.........

Written on: 09/08/2014
100% agree with you. I could work for a company who rip off people. can you imagine if you found out if they had ripped off a member of your family how you would feel or even a friend.
written by on 10/11/2010
I really can't see a reason to give this company a single star. They pray on desperate people and once they have their claws in, you cannot get away from them. We borrowed 36k and after 4 years of paying £600.00 per month we now owe them 54k. This loan has been mis-sold. They now claim that we borrowed 49k but 9k of this was for credit insurance which we did not ask for. I am currently taking legal advice and would advise anyone in a similar situation to do the same. Avoid these blood sucking parasites!

What have they done to you so far.
written by on 04/11/2010
If you have money problems DO NOT GO TO NEMO, I did and have regretted it, they set the interest on the value of the last house sold like mine, very low so their interest high, then value it again to give me enough assets to take the loan when I was desperate. Your monthly payment will be almost all interest. Go to payplan, they will help you without ripping you off. I wish I knew about them before taking a loan to pay off debt
Written on: 12/08/2014
Me to. I wish I knew about these people before they are going to take my home. I have got to prove to them today I can pay off the arrears and still have money to pay for 7months plus depending on the amount I have to pay each month. I have until tomorrow to sort it or I have NO HOUSE.

I had a gambling addiction, while on a gambling site nemo popped up with remortgage now.. I did to support my habbit. Unknown to them as everything was done via postal service I forged my husbands signature as I am not on the property deed. The loan was accepted immediatley, then 6 months later a letter came to say I was such a good payer why dont i top up the loan, being a gambler I did. This was 2005,after addressing all my issues in 2009 after stopping the payments to nemo in 2006, I went bankrupt, bare in mind they never pursued non payment of the loan untill they were told I was bankrupt. They then had my husband and myself arrested on fraud charges. My husband thank god was cleared but I face crown court for fraud,I warn all people they are quick to lend via post, but will take your life from you with no remorse. We did offer nemo 10k but they refused, now it is going to court and they wont get a penny just a prison sentence for me they say they wish they accepted the offer.NEVER USE THIS COMPANY
written by on 13/04/2010
yes you are quite correct they lend to people at risk but also when the times are tough flexibility should be with the lenders, peoples circumstances change and if you are fortunate to be in the same job and in the same relationship all your life then that's great but if things change as they do, then there should be the choice to sell the house ans pay the loan back before repossession as with my first mortgage lender, nemo didn't even give me the opportunity to sell my house, to their disadvantage as they didn't get all there money back and it then becomes an unsecured loan where i still have to pay it back, they don't just write the loan off. Before you make judgement i would suggest you know peoples circumstances before you reply as it is not all about interest rates and lending to high risk lenders, most people do actually want to pay the money back that they borrowed but the opportunity has to be in the first place and it wasn't with Nemo.
written by on 24/03/2010
I realise that the PPI is a rip off, as it generally is with all insurance sold by the lender at point of sale, but surely you know the interest rate when you sign up for the loan so how can you complain after the event. Interest rates are high because generally speaking the borrowers are a high risk and the company has to make a profit when customer default (they don't make money on repossessions, they just reduce the amount of their loss). I don't think you'll find that Nemo is any worse than other such companies (most of who have now gone out of business because they were unable to make a profit). I would hate to be in a position where I am risk of losing my house, it must be terrifying, but individuals have to take some responsibility for borrowing too much money in the first place.
written by on 21/03/2010
We have had our home repossessed. Our first mortgage lender were not interested in taking us to court, 2nd Mortgage lender - Nemo had instructed Solicitors to take action, they were not interested in me trying to sell the house and keep the roof overf our heads, we have no home now and they are still trying to chase us for the debt, the loan which is now unsecured. Nemo are bunch of crooks, avoid borrowing any money with them and if you do DO NOT take the PPI with them.
Written on: 09/08/2014
I have had to get my parents to get equity out of their home to help me pay off they arrears they say I owe, but they still won't BUDGE. I having to appeal in court about it. They must be stopped any ideas.

I wrote this review and another one on here. They are a very difficult company to deal with when you default or fall behind on payments. I contacted their legal department and was at one stage prepared to drive to their head office in Wales and confront directly. I would suggest some advice from CAB. I think they need to be investigated and I'm still deciding on the best way forward to deal with this company.
written by on 02/02/2010
This company want taking to court to pay back the money they have taken from unsuspecting desperate customers like us.Borrowed £28000 only to be charged another £8000 for 5 year Payment Protection Insurance(doesn't even cover half of term of loan).Absolutely disgusted with attitude of staff when challenged about it.Now been waiting nearly 3 years for financial ombudsman to build a case and still awaiting a decision to get our money back.
Written on: 09/08/2014
Nemo should be taken to court to STOP TRADING FULL STOP They ruin people's lives. There must be away to stop these people. And NOW.
Written on: 11/08/2014
How do we take them to court they a with the FCA and they are legal. So we have no chance. The papers should know about them.

Same here,I'm very grateful for everybody that have taken time to write a review here,
Me and my husband were about to finelise the loan of 26k, but after redding the reviews we decided to steer well clear of Nemo,I hope they will be sorted in the near future, they won't get away with that forever.
Thank you all for the helpful Reviews.
