“DON'T CARE ATTTITUDE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BDESJ on 25/03/2017

I filled out a Asda credit card form and I was under impression that Asda will contact me .After a long while I received an email from Asda saying thanks for contacting us.That's it.No more communication. By the way the email was sent to me was no reply email address and to make contact with Asda over the phone will incur me change and time. Could they not simply drop me an email to confirm me about my application is rejected or not? Why Asda taking so long ? or they don't contact at all.

“Worse card ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Serrano401 on 11/01/2017

Ok, have had a 5k credit limit for 6 months, I spend a lot, but have 7k net a month and no other debts. Asda refused to increase limit. Walking away with my feet. Don't go near them, really unhelpful. Also they don't use swift payments for account paying (so you have to pay earlier) and no apple pay.

“surprisingly good”

★★★★★

written by woodlousey on 06/12/2016

I opened my asda money credit card on 5th november, i got a really good credit limit of 3000, i found it far more than i actually would spend, i would never use so much in one month. The online system i find excellent, i set up to pay my balance in full each month and can also pay using my debit card if i wish to pay extra payments, the filling out of your debit card details can be a bit lengthy but easy enough to do. The cash back is in the form of a printable voucher, once you reach 2.50, this would be a little hard to do if you did not have a workable printer, The staff are always there to answer and questions either via messaging on the online page, or via phone. so far been very happy with my chosen card.

“Not fit for purpose”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Carter1962 on 09/11/2016

Had one before by Santander but asda stopped it so was delighted when they started again. First time I used it got a fine for going over the £600 monthly limit. As it is for shopping and fuel and other shopping just what century are they in. When I contacted them they said that was my credit limit. I informed that I had had a previous card for many years but they just said that's what it is. I cut it up. They obviously do t want the cash!

“Not good so far!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AlexusHeath on 31/10/2016

Took out an Asda mastercard 3 months ago...very poor experience so far! Tried to pay online via their online website.....found that I had to fill out exhaustive details of the debit card I was paying with. OK for the first payment I thought, but not so. You have to do the same every time as their system is incapable of retaining card details. How unprofessional! Second month I tried to pay by bank transfer but the payment was immediately refunded. Apparently the sort code/account numbers lodged with First Direct are incorrect. Asda money claimed this is because First Direct has not amended its details, but I suspect that Asda has failed to notify. As I said, not good so far.....any more problems and I'll switch to a competent provider!

“LOW LIMIT AND CONTINUED REFUSALS”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Stevepqrt on 18/07/2016

I have a very good credit rating and spend around £2k each month on my credit card - I went for the ASDA card for the cashback. Unfortunately the credit limit provided was 10% of what I am usually given, so I had to run with a credit balance by paying in funds. This was just about acceptable but then, despite a credit balance on the card it was rejected in two shops (one being ASDA!) due to "system issues". Avoid unless you are happy to suffer problems in return for the cashback.

“Pathetic Credit limit £300, Crying out loud”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DonteSchwartz191 on 26/05/2016

Applied for Asda money credit card. Accepted no problem, credit limit £300. (This wont be enough to pay for fuel for the month) I thought this may be just in case the cards falls into the wrong hands whilst in the post. I set-up direct debit for bill to be paid of in full every month When I received the card, I Tried to increase the limit online only to be told I cannot increase limit for the first 6 months. 9 months on applied for limit increase online, got an increase to £360, still not enough for my month's petrol. In case your wondering, My credit score is excellent, several properties to my name all mortgages paid off. I have never defaulted on any kind of loan, never been bankrupt etc.. The reason I wanted Asda credit card was for the convenience of not carrying cash & getting 1% cash back at Asda. I have Barclay card Amex & Visa, I had to ask Barclaycard to Decrease (yes Decrease) my credit limit to £7500. I get 1% cash back with the Barclaycard Amex (retailers have to pay Amex higher percentage to Amex for the purchases). Adsa's loss. I called Asda money to close my credit card account, only to be told they will try to increase my credit limit and, get back to a day or 2. Well couple of days has passed they have not got back to me tried to increase limit online again, unsuccessful on this occasion. I will be calling them again to close my account in the morning. Total waste of time.

“What a waste of my valuable time!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Timbo1949 on 30/04/2016

As MBNA, our current provider, is about to stop giving cashback I decided to apply for an Asda credit card. To my astonishment, however, my application was unsuccessful and Asda were unable to tell me why or how their underwriters had come to this decision. For the first time in my life, I therefore went to considerable trouble to establish (with Equifax) that my credit score is officially "excellent" - way above average, in fact. I can only conclude that I was declined because we pay our balance in full every month to avoid interest charges. If this is the case, it would suggest to me that Asda are adopting a grossly irresponsible attitude towards the spending and borrowing habits of their customers. We might also think twice about shopping at Asda now. My advice would be to steer well clear of this credit card!

“NIL CREDIT CARD PROTECTION”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GracelynRobinson on 19/11/2015

Booked my Apartment using Asda Credit Card to the value of over £200. The Apartment turned out to be infested with cockroaches and after three days got moved to more dangerous one with loose live wires and broken shower screen, torn curtains and bed sheets i.e Health hazard!! Complained to the provider with no joy so contacted Asda Finance for act on my behalf to stop payment and raise dispute. Asda's answer was: "Thank you for your response to our last communication regarding a dispute you raised on your Asda Money MasterCard. Firstly, we are very sorry to learn the circumstances for your dispute. Unfortunately, we have no direct relationship with the retailers who accept MasterCard and therefore, our influence over the quality and standard of the services they provide, is very limited. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find recourse under credit card regulations to process a claim of this nature as there are very specific requirements in order to support a claim for misrepresentation. The first of these would be documentation from the hotels website/brochure which clearly states that there would be no insects/cockroaches in the hotel rooms. Your photographic evidence would then prove that the hotel has misrepresented their advertisement as you have pictures of the insects in the room. Secondly and most importantly, if the hotel failed to resolve the situation after the customer submitted their complaint, the customer must have then refused to continue their stay and so moved out of the hotel. Only then are we permitted to claim for the remainder of the booked stay after the room was vacated. We regret that there are no exceptions to the above requirements and even in the event that every hotel in the immediate vicinity was fully booked and there was nowhere else for a customer to go, the customer would still be required to vacate the accommodation. Although we do appreciate that vacating the hotel may not have been an option for you, we sincerely regret that for this reason we have no recourse under MasterCard regulations to claim reimbursement for you. Therefore, we can only recommend that you continue your claim directly with the hotel. We are so very sorry that we have been unable to assist on this occasion. If you have any additional questions concerning our response, please do not hesitate to contact us". All correspondence and photographs had been supplied as proof but still Asda refused to act. Shame on you ASDA

“Joke ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Pissedoffhousewife on 07/11/2015

What an appalling thing this credit card is. Not making payments properly, so I have no idea whether payment has been made at all, meaning I can not make further orders with my supermarket. You phone the number on the back to be told there's a new number with no time to write it down then you phone the new number, during opening hours and get told it's closed. For what cashback you earn it isn't worth the hassle or the embarrassment of getting that lurid green card out. It would be slightly better if they told you why they are closed during opening hours or why payment hasn't been made... But they're closed so you can't talk to them. Vile, inefficient, vile company.

“Worst experience I have ever had with a card”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 285Williams on 23/10/2015

Credit amount was £400 per month. I dont know who this is aimed at but for most that would not cover two weeks. This is to include petrol and other outlets. I called the customer service to ask " politely" if I could have the limit raised as I ha been a perous Asda card holder for some 15 or more years ans was told they would have to apply and what was the reason. I waited for a response and was just told no. no explanation or anything - Card has been cut up and burnt now. I do not have a bad credit score

“£12 fee rip off, as a result of low credit limit”

★☆☆☆☆

written by asdaripoff on 15/08/2015

I recently took out an ASDA cash back credit card, however the very low credit limit of just £300, reluctantly increased to £1000, resulted in me inadvertently going over my limit and being hit with a sneaky £12 overlimit fee, even although I had set up a direct debit to pay off my account, in full, each month. It is patently obvious that this is a complete RIP OFF by Sygma Bank, i.e. give customers a very low ( £300 ) credit limit, then hit them with an Over limit fee of £12, because they know that its virtually impossible for a person to check their balance, at the point of making a purchase. When I phoned to complain and close my newly opened account, I was told it was in the terms & conditions and that they were sorry to lose me. Maybe they would keep all the customers, who like me, have gone to alot of trouble to open an account in the first place, IF they didn't hit people with sneaky and unreasonable and hidden charges. On a matter of principle I am also going to avoid shopping at ASDA from now on, as they are no doubt aware of the way Sygma Bank manages their Asda Credit Card.

“Credit Limits”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bobarmone on 08/06/2015

When shopping for a new reward credit card, the Asda card seemed to offer good benefits. It was accepted and I awaited the cards for myself and my wife. The cards arrived but only one pin number followed. I registered on line and noticed that the credit limit was set at £300 per month. I rang the helpline, explained that our monthly spend was regularly between £1000 and £2000 and that my present card limit was £10000. I requested an increase on my credit limit and informed them about the missing pin number. I was informed that underwriter would contact me within 3 days regarding credit limit. Six days later (no contact from Asda) I logged on and noticed credit limit was now set at £1000 and no pin number had arrived. I rang Asda and was informed that I could not change credit limit for at least six months! I closed the account. Thanks for wasting my time, Asda. Perhaps it would be mre advisable to put a credit limit question in your application.

“Deceptive way of engineering late payment fee.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by raymando on 10/02/2015

Care is needed when thinking of applying for an Asda card and it appears even when payment is made in good time the delay in Banks transferring funds ensures you make a late payment and thus incur late payment charges. This is a card from a tertiary bank hiding behind a recognized brand and thus exploiting customers. My counsel would be do not get one of these cards - you must go to a recognized source as these organisations practice usury. Caveat emptor buyer beware
