“Appauling Feedback, Poor accident Reporting”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Pot_Shot on 01/06/2015

After making a claim where the 3rd Party drove off after admiting fault in front of a witness i have had no feedback from these clowns apart from when i have called them. The reporting consisted of me briefly explaining an accident over the phone whereby the 3rd party backed into myself, clearly backed up by photographic and cctv evidance which they have not even asked to see. I originally paid the £150 excess with the understanding i would recieve this back from the 3rd partys insurance as their party did not respond to the letters sent out by them, after chasing the claim after 4 weeks of no correspondence (not even a letter). i was told they where still awaiting a response. Now in the 8th week i decided to call again to be told they would be attempting to get 1/2 the money back for my excess due to us both reversing (i had said i had put in gear to start a manouver but not actually moved - backed up by the accident damage surely picked up by the accident investigator who assessed the damage?). They have now updated my claim to 'try' and get all my excess paid, what if i had not called... would they have settled on 50/50. i am now really angry and no doubt will have to call them again to get an update. Really Poor customer service and feedback - if you have a claim with them i advise you keep in contact as they seem to fill in any gaps in their reporting without actually consulting you

“Avoid at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 302Ward on 21/04/2015

Took out car insurance april and was asked for proof of no claims discount after a few days. This i provided by scanning my previous insurance companies form and e-mailing it to them. My policy was duly sent to me on line however, after a week, an underwriter mailed me asking for proof of residency, driving licence, evidence of how long i had been driving. I thought this should be done on the initial application so i mailed backed to express my disgust and am preparing to cancel and use LV or another. Do not these companies talk to each other ??????

“By far the best ever Insurance Company I have dealt...”

★★★★★

written by cm190 on 25/12/2014

Allianz are a fantastic (if one does exist) car insurance company and I would have no problem recommending them to friends and family. Having taken comprehensive car insurance with them for the 1st time in 8 years of driving upon which I had my first accident (my fault) I found the claims process to be very quick (3 weeks to conclude in full) and with minimal fuss / hassle involved. I had selected no additional courtesy car on my policy so only had a C. Car for a total of 4 days once my vehicle had been written off (I wanted to clarify this as people have been stating this as a negative point against the company however the policy is very clear on this and so are the staff when you speak with them). It is simple - If you want to guarantee a Courtesy car then you should pay the additional fee (£30 approx) otherwise you get the maximum entitlement of 4 days only which was more than enough for me. The claims process was easy to follow, took around a week to hear back from the claims handler who then came back with a write off confirmation and an offer of settlement against my car. The offer was quite low, but after a bit of market research I was able to negotiate this offer up by almost £1000 (this isn't unique to Allianz - unfortunately it is the way insurance company models work and how they increase the profit margins). The settlement cheque arrived in 2 days and cleared into my account 4 days later - again a swift and easy process. Thoroughly recommend Allianz as an insurance company and the staff are very helpful and happy to help. I must admit this the the first and only insurance company I can and have reviewed to this standard as normally they are all pretty poor. I hope this review helps inform your choice a little better - however please remember that each and every situation will be unique.

“AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!”

written by CONNOR977777 on 10/12/2014

DO NOT TAKE A POLICY WITH THESE. They have had my vehicle for 3 weeks. declared its a total loss so they must make a valuation, they took the courtesy vehicle back (which repairers provided) which was a fiat 500 when I have a Vauxhall astra and hire car and courtesy car is an ADDITIONAL price in the policy and your not covered if it been WRITTEN OFF. AVOID THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. Its two weeks before Christmas and im left without a CAR!!!

“Brilliant Company”

★★★★★

written by Aga_00 on 06/11/2014

I am very happy with Allianz. They are my car insurance providers for the last 3 years and I'm not going to change them any time soon. Customer service is on really high level and I have never had any problems with them. Calls are handled with professionalism and great manners. Few months ago I had a crash on the motorway where guy drove off. Case is still ongoing but they provided and still providing me with support and updates. Thats not a company which is only sending letters to you they taking time to call you with an update. That made me feel safer as it was my first (and hopefully the last) time when I had to deal with claims department. They had no problems to take their time and explain me what is the next step and answer all my questions. It is really easy to deal with them and I would love all different companies to take example from them!

“Allianz Cover Car Insurance”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dougpearce on 05/06/2014

I purchased car insurance through Allianz Cover insurance because they had a good deal. However, what they don't tell you is that they don't accept No Claims Discount proof from your previous policy if it is still running. Well, normally your Renewal Notice is sent out BEFORE your previous policy expires, isn't it? So they tell you your premium must be charged at 0 years no claims until your previous policy expires, then you can't pay for No Claims Protection. So, I had to cancel. In short, you only get an NCD if your previous policy has already expired when you apply.

“100% Useless - Stay Away!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 462Evans on 07/05/2014

I have a claim ongoing, not my fault. I got acceptance of fault from the third party, NOT Allianz because they never actually do anything other than take your money. My premium doubled due to the ongoing claim but now that liability has been accepted do you think I can get my money out of them and my premium reduced? In the 1 year hat this has ben gong on I have received ONE phone call from Allianz. I will also add that they sent me a cheque for £100 by way of an "apology" for their poor service, and this was 6 months ago! I will never use Allianz again and will be cancelling my policy ASAP.

“Great value”

★★★★★

written by Jamesgladwell on 10/09/2013

This company gave me an amazing price on my policy, on a like for like cover from my previous insurer. I found this using an online comparison tool. I understand that I will be able to amend my policy online using online tools, and they have explained to me that they are principally online based. I understand and am happy with that. I did however speak to them when setting up the policy and they were very friendly polite and helpful and I wasn't on hold for very long. I have seen some other customer reviews of their claims handling processes. I suspect you get what you pay for, although I've had similar experience with other insurance companies anyway.

“Utter Disgrace”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/08/2013

After purchasing a my car insurance online in June 2013 (ALLIANZ YOUR COVER CAR INSURANCE), I then needed to update my policy after the purchase of a new car. I first rang the customer service number on Friday 23rd August. No matter what time I rang, it would ring out maybe once, twice or even 3 times, and then just cut dead. After 2 hours of this, I went and rang the claim hotline, hoping someone would sort me out. I was first on hold for 50 minutes. I could wait no longer. I had to go out. I tried the CS number again, same thing - phone just went dead. I tried the claim line again - this time I waited an hour and 23 minutes. Yep 90 MINUTES nearly, and nothing. In total then, TWO AND A HALF HOURS ON HOLD - and that was the accident helpline - god help you if you needed to make a claim. That is not including the 100+ times I tried the CS number. Saturday 24th August. Exactly the same thing. CS number just went dead. 30 minutes on hold to the accident helpline. PATHETIC. Sunday it is advertised as closed. Monday 26th - Bank holiday. Advertised 9am-5pm on bank hols. Again, CS number goes dead. Claim line - 30 minutes. I HAVE LOST 4 HOURS OF MY LIFE TRYING TO CONTACT THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY, AND NEVER ACTUALLY MANAGED TO SPEAK TO ANYONE AT ALL!!!!!! So, to recap then, I paid for my insurance online in June. In August, i purchased a new car. Tried to update the details of the policy, but it was just IMPOSSIBLE. Car sat on my drive for 3 days with no insurance. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM. In the end I gave up, and just took out a brand new insurance policy with a PROPER INSURANCE COMPANY. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

“Inefficient, keep your money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/06/2013

I rang up to add European cover to my policy, a premium was deducted and I received the documents via email. As the premium on the documents did not match what had been agreed I rang to query immediately. I was told that the premium was how much cover would have cost if I had taken it out for the whole year, and that anyway I didn't need to ring up for cover until 1 week before travel. I therefore cancelled, was told I would be refunded and received cancellation documents. This all happened with a period of about two hours. 10 days later, they have STILL NOT refunded me, despite many phone calls and promises and apologies. Totally inefficient, and it feels like a way of deliberately hanging onto money for as long as possible. I will NEVER use again, nor recommend.

Every time they say someone will call me back in the same day giving me the details. THEY NEVER CALL ME BACK. Everyday i call and the same asnwer is given. Someone is going to call me back. Its been 8 days and still nothing. THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING AN INSURENCE WITH ALLIANZ. THERE'S NO CONSIDERATION. NO ONE TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS. HORRIBLE COSTUMERS SERVICE.

“They will rob you blind.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/08/2012

After having to submit a claim with Allianz I've learned that they will go through even illegal lengths to deny you. No matter how many physician forms, police reports, and other documents I had in my favor, Allianz just said "we disagree, you're denied" after all of it. Months and months of harassing doctors and lawmen for forms that all proved my claim were simply ignored and my claim was denied. This is so so wrong, you will never get what is rightfully yours, no matter how much you prove that you are in the right. Do not under any circumstances buy this insurance, you will be robbed.

they are supposed to be BMW insurers. SO far they are awful, tried to take my car away before even telling me what they are planing to do, so to put me in a disparate situation to accept their offer, They charges full premium and just two weeks later they are offering half the insured value of my car. I do sense that the only way to deal with them is the law, court. If you buy BMW do not use their insurer it is Allianz. If you buy BMW do not use their insurer it is Allianz.

“Cost me my business”

★☆☆☆☆

written by rtbcomp on 01/02/2012

Needed my car for my business. Got fully comp cover with hire car on monthly payments. Car got stolen. Got a cheque for £32 next day, they deducted outstanding installments. Wouldn't let me have a hire car because they'd settled. Tried to complain, they put phone down on me. Complained to director, he told me to complain to the person I was complaining about. Could only find recordings of conversations when it suited them. The irony is I've now been elsewhere for several years with no claims and paid more in premiums than the claim cost. If they'd settled properly I'd have stayed with them and they'd have made more profit!

“Unbelievably bad company run by cowboys”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/01/2012

My daughter-in-law had parked her car outside our house and while she was in our house a neighbour backed his car into hers. He admitted it was wholly his fault and would inform his insurance company accordingly. My daughter-in-law duly informed Allianz. You would think this would be a pretty straightforward claim. However, Allianz told her to deal with the claim herself and telephone the other party's insurance company. My husband was apoplectic!!! We are insured with Saga who are extremely efficient and reliable and would be horrified at the idea of their client liaising with another party's insurance company themselves. That is what we pay our insurance companies for! They also told her she would have to pay her excess up front and then claim it back after the claim is settled. This is unbelievable. She is entirely blameless and yet she is supposed to pay her excess and deal with the claim herself!! What is she paying Allianz for? Surely this company is trading under false pretences by not providing the service required of them. I would never use this company and would advise everybody to steer clear of them. They are not operating as an insurance company should.

Just want to add a post-script to my review re: my daughter-in-law's claim. The other party responsible for the damage to her car reported it promptly to his insurance company, Saga, and admitted full responsiility. Saga duly phoned my daughter-in-law and said they would pay for the repair to her car and would even provide her with a courtesy car. What a good, honourable company Saga is, and what a rubbish company Allianz is!!!

“Shocking customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Spinney28 on 31/10/2011

We have been with Allianz for 5 years, with very very few claims and therefore no reason to have an issue. We recently had a cat convertor stolen off a car. It took them 4 weeks to inform us that the car needed to be sent to an authorised repairer, during which time the car depreciated by more than £600. When an engineer finally came out to inspect the car, which itself took over 3 weeks, he left something on and the battery died. This could only be reset by a Main Dealer, so a further unnecessary delay. When the claim was originally made, there was a part on 30 days back order. By the time the engineer had inspected the vehicle, which he apparently stated was unneccessary anyway, the same part was on 60 to 90 days back order! Whilst at the Authorised Repairer, the air bag light came on and it ran out of MOT. Allianz were adamant that the cost of this was down to us as, first of all, they denied the engineer having every left anything on and secondly they said that the air bag light was nothing to do with the cat covertor replacement. Far more likely is that when the battery died as a result of the engineer leaving something on, the air bag light came on, as this is not uncommon. After 5 years and almost £30k's of insurance payments, after delays with this claim as a result of poor communication at their end and unnecessary errors by their engineer, it is me not they who is expected to foot the bill. In the meantime, the car has depreciated by a further £1500 ish so more than £2k all-in. In the meantime, we have been passed from pillar to post and post to pillar, with sharp and unsympathetic management style ecountered throughout. I have now instructed my legal team to write to the CEO, to make him formally aware of the situation and that, if a satisfactory solution is not quickly achieved, we will be making a legal claim against Allianz as well as seeking early termination of policy contract. I do not believe that other insurance companies could possibly provide a worst service level and remain in business. I will keep you posted as to how things progress.
