“Crashed my car”

★☆☆☆☆

written by allanb1973 on 18/07/2012

We went on holiday with the feeling that all was well with our new £35k merc in safe hands, how wrong could we be. On arriving home we went to the colllection area to find our car with a scuff on the front bumper. after expalining how upset we was a manager came down 35mins later and assured us it will be delt with and we was told to get a quote and it will be fixed. That was 4 months ago and they are still avoiding all calls and and emails. Its now being handed over to the ploice as a criminal offence. If you value your car aviod this company at all costs.

“VERY POOR SERVICE”

★★☆☆☆

written by Mazza200472 on 13/06/2012

We booked our car into Luton airport through APH who we have used before and not had a problem. Unfortunately this time we did have very poor service. We were booked with SwiftPark at Luton to drop the car was ok but on colletion we called when we landed and were told 10 - 15mins in the car park. After waiting 20mins we called again to be told its on its way, another 10mins. A SwiftPark attendant arrived in another car we asked what was happening with ours he mumbled something and walked off !! He then got in another car and drove off completly ignoring us. An attendand from another meet & greet service asked why we had been waiting so long, we explained, he called our SwiftPark as they use the same parking area, and was told the car battery was flat and they had to get the car out from the back of the parking area. Surely the whole point of leaving your flught details is that they keep an eye on the flight times and ensure your car is there ready and waiting when you arrive back. Eventuall after 58mins our car arrived, being driven by the man who had been there half and hr before!! Again he thrust a clipboard at me and muttered something and walked off to talk to a friend, i follwoed him and asked what he wanted me to do with theclipboard, ''just sign and pay £1 fee'' is what i was told. We were so cold and fed up by this stage i did exactly that. The next day i emailed APH to advise of the complete lack of any customer service we received and the long long delay. To date i have had no repsonse from either SwiftPark or APH...........I will NOT be using either again and will NOT be recommending to friends.

“Cars are moved off-site for storage”

★★★☆☆

written by on 29/05/2012

Having used APH at Copthorne a few times, I had noticed previously that my mileage appeard to have increased over the 2 weeks that we left the car at APH. However at the time I didn't take precise readings but recently I did take readings. The mileage actually went up by 6 miles because APH use off-site parking for your car, 3 miles away from Copthorne. The detail is found in the small print, item 12 of their Terms and Conditions and also on the voucher you sign when handing over the car keys. I would have loked APH to be up front about this, allowing one of their drived to drive your car whevere instead of hiding it in the small print.

“Overall?”

written by Sparx on 05/05/2012

O.k, Ri thought I had got a meet & greet both ways but the websit was not as clear as I thought. Trf is a way and they will go to south 1st, so it a bit more than 15mins, prepare for that. Tried to sort the meet & greet a few hours before arrival. They couldn't do. Just read about car damage complaints on other sites and now concerned. Buy cheap and I guess you have to expect.

“APH Scratched my Car!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Gail2012 on 28/02/2012

After returning from my holiday I discovered that my car had a scratch on the rear bumper. So it was reported, photos taken, incident report filled in, told to get 2 quotes and they would sort out payment. All very easy I thought and went away happy in the fact that they would pay for the damage they had caused. After sending through my quotes I received a letter saying that they will not be paying out because there is no evidence to suggest that it was their fault. Apparently the cameras had been checked from when we arrived and they couldn't determine whether or not the scratch was already there...we arrived in the dark, so I doubt they would be able to tell anyway!! Asking them to look at more footage to determine if the scratch was there has since been completely ignored. I have used APH Gatwick a lot of times over the last few years, but after this last experience I will definitely not be using them again! The most important thing for me is keeping my car safe which they have completely failed to do so and won’t take responsibility for what is clearly their fault. Seems such a shame that the small print is completely letting down the efficiency and professionalism of the reception staff and coach drivers! Only use this company if you don't care what they do to your car!!

“APH scratched the car!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 23/02/2012

We left our car with APH Gatwick while we were on holiday for 10 days over Christmas 2011 and when we came back there was a long (1m50), deep scratch down the side of the car. The scratch was definitely man made (it looked like the car had been keyed). Unfortunately the car was frozen over, so we only noticed the scratch once we had got home and the ice had melted. On complaining to APH, they said there was nothing they could do as we didn't spot it before we left. Whilst we were stupid not to check, you would at least expect them to check CCTV (which the website claims they have), which they refused to do. Also worth noting is that they drive the car offsite so you do not have clue what they do with it on the road. To be fair, the people on site & the drivers of the buses to the airport were very friendly and polite... it is just a shame that failed on the main point... keeping the car safe!!! Summary: DO NOT USE THESE JOKERS!!

“Gatwick APH”

★★★★★

written by on 28/10/2011

Excellent, i love the way they treat their customers, very friendly staff and efficient staff. Best thing is you donot have to wait for long as they have a bus every 15 minutes. Also their location is very ideal from Airport. I have used them several time and only issue i have was that some of hte buses they used are not big. I like there big buses not the small one. I will use them again and also recomend my friends and family member to use them as well. Thanks APH

written by nancy20111111 on 27/09/2011

i used this parking site during the summer holidays 2011 without any faults or whatsoever, its never been broken down or anything 100% working order. when i came back from holidays i discovered several things were wrong with my vehicle. i took it to my local garage and they confirmed that the car has been tampered with, when the mechanic opened the bonett screws started to fall out and there were several loose wires. it ended up costing lots of money which never ever happened to me before. i finally had to put it on auction. im in the process of reporting this to the police. Please be advised that gatwick purple parking is not to be trusted from my personal experience be aware of this company...

we've used the birmingham APH about 10 times. But not again. once they lost the car and denied they had it! three times they have scratched the car. once i was so tired i didn't fight with them. twice they have been sneering and dismissive and petty about it. they collection area has fairly tight spaces considering that the people in the car next to you are likely exhausted idiots with bags and whack your car mercilessly as they clamber in. yet APH make no effort to improve this. take a wire brush to your car instead, it's simpler.

“Arrived to pick up my car at 0700 on a cold, wet rainy...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by cobramaster on 24/02/2011

Arrived to pick up my car at 0700 on a cold, wet rainy morning having had to fly back to the UK with flu and a chest infection. I checked around the car for damage but it is very hard to see anything when it is dark and wet. The first thing I noticed with my car was that the windscreen wipers had been left in the centre of the screen. The lazy so-and-so could not be bothered to park them properly and just turned off the engine. On trying to get into the car I found that it was impossible without moving the seat back as the very short person driving last had moved the seat up to the steering wheel. Then I noticed that the side mirrors had not been parked, as I had left them, so they were subject to damage and furthermore they had both been adjusted so much that I could not see out of them. I then found that the centre arm rest had been pulled forward which makes it difficult to properly apply the hand brake. I was not surprised when I started the car and as I moved the gear selector into reverse it immediately started to roll backwards.
With all these changes I was led to assume that my car had been driven off site for parking, and no short distance either. How I was kicking myself for not taking a speedo reading before I left it in the incapable hands of the amateurs at APH who obviously have no pride in what they do and no respect for the vehicles of others. I was also not surprised, in the cold light of day, at home, to find damage to my car's nearside front wing.
This is the thanks I get for many years of being a loyal customer.
BEWARE ALL YE WHO PARK HERE.

APH damaged my car while it was in their care and now point blank refuse to acknowledge it was their fault.

Try as I have to convince APH that they are at fault, they continue to hide behind their small print.
I did get some concession, if you can call it that. They offered me one week's free parking. Now seriously, they damaged my car once, do they think I'll gullible enough to risk my car with them again.

I read other reviews, now that I've experienced this awful company, where people have had a similar experience.

If you care for your car then use a different Airport parking company. It will save you a lot of time and hassle.

I parked my car at APH Gatwick. On arrival I found that my car had been driven for 50 miles and there was damage to the back door that APH are conveniently denying. Incidentally they take photograhic evidence of the whole car on arrival but do not do the same when you exit the carpark - how convenient!!!

We found APH very efficient. Staff were friendly and efficient. Information was concise, correct and to the point, both for finding APH and for contacting them on return.
The coach service to and from the airport was very good - seat belts provided, careful driving, friendly drivers.
Value for money was excellent.

The only reason for the four-star rating was the minor uncertainty that not only had the passenger seat been occupied (OK, may have to move a spare driver around), but it may have been for more than a short time as the seat position had been moved.

Have used APH Gatwick for the last few years, and have found them to be excellent value, great staff, coaches are comfortable and the service seems to be very regular. APH are definately upmarket in comparison to BCP, who we used to use. APH are also difficult to beat on price in my opinion.
Just a final thanks to the staff (especially Linda)who recently helped us track down a lost package upon our return from holiday. They went out of their way and have restored our faith in human nature!

written by on 23/09/2010

I don't usually review things on-line but I have to warn people NOT to use APH. Two items (that were put away out of sight) were stolen from our car when we left it in APH's supposed safe keeping. I've since heard this from several other people too, and that cars have been used whilst they were meant to be parked, clocking up miles whilst their owner was on holiday. APH have been really unhelpful in trying to sort the thefts too. There are other companies - I really would not use this one again.

“We've used APH twice in the last three years and have...”

★★★★☆

written by on 20/05/2010

We've used APH twice in the last three years and have been very happy with the service. The carpark is located near Crawley and East GRinsted in Sussex and is on a main road making it very easy to find. The actual car park is very big and has a large metal fence running all the way round and access can only be achieved once you have proven you identity/checked in.

The first time we used APH we had prebooked using my partners car, but due to unforeseen curcumstances we had to alter the booking only two days in advance (I think my partner was secretly pleased as it meant taking my old banger and not his more expensive car!). The staff were really helpful.

When we got back from our holiday (7 days) we had been delayed and had gone into the following week, but there was no additional charge.

The second time we used APH we took my partners car. Once again, no complaints, although the car had been moved at some piont over the week as there was two numbers on the key tag.

My only criticism is that if you return late at night the buses to and from the terminals seem less frequent. We arrived back to Gatwick S at 1am and the bus didnt show for 45mins...when we were told it would be 20.

I would defently recommend them to friends and family, but saying that, this year we will not be taking the 6 month old car with us, we will be taking the 7 year old one just in case.

“Cheap and efficient but your car isn't safe with their...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/05/2010

Cheap and efficient but your car isn't safe with their staff.

I've used APH Gatwick several times over the last 20 years or so. Until the last few visits, everything has been fine. Good price, efficient service. Then there were 3 incidents that made me think twice.

The first was when I noticed a dent in the door after I returned home. It wasn't there before. APH didn't want to know. Fair enough. I should have spotted it before driving it off.

The second was when the bumper was damaged by being driven into a wire mesh fence and fence post. I know this because the bumper was still in intimate contact with the fence when I picked it up. The APH manager stopped protesting when I showed him. They paid for repairs.

I was uneasy about leaving it there in January 2010. APH will do a bodywork check on arrival for £5. I called and asked if they'd accept any liability for damage if this check wasn't done. The answer amounted to "maybe but you'd have to spot the damage before driving off." Reasoning that I was probably worrying too much, I used them again. I returned to the car to find £700+ worth of damage to the wing and 6 extra miles on the clock. The manager assured me that they could check if the damage was there before as the car had been photographed by 5 cameras. They sorted this out very rapidly and authorised repairs at their expense straight away. The extra mileage was because the car was taken to an overflow car park. They produced a copy of the chit I signed on booking in and, sure enough, I'd said it was OK to move it to another car park. Very cute. Whether or not the overflow car park is as secure as the main one I don't know. Neither do I know how carefully my car was driven there.

On this occasion, the bus driver who picked us up from Gatwick didn't bother to open the hold so my wife and I had to struggle on to the bus with our cases. The driver took no notice of us at all.

I might have been extraordinarily unlucky or APH might be getting worse. They are efficient at accepting liability and they settle promptly. It makes me wonder if that's because they are getting a lot of practice. The fact remains, the customer has to prove APH did the damage. They are strangely coy about capturing images of vehicles. It isn't in their publicity at all. When you book a car in, it is a rapid process and people are hurrying to catch their plane. I doubt if anyone reads the chit they sign. APH are technically in the right, of course, but they would be seen to be fairer if they drew customers' attention to the fact that their car may not be parked where they think. And how many people, arriving back after a flight, think to check their car for damage? APH would do better to think about prevention rather than remedy. But it doesn't matter to me because I won't be back.

I was disapointed to notice that there were 7 miles put on my car while it was left for 1 week there. I'm wondering where they went for lunch with my car, how fast they were going, what would have happened if there was a wreck? Anyways, will not trust valet parking any longer.

On the other hand customer service was great and bus service was fast and convienient.
