This service is not what it used to be I could not recomend it at all . Try contacting them when it says contact us your waisting your time.I am getting very worried and think I will be telling every one not to bother.
I could not give one star.raring.
overall just down right poor

“18185 have blocked my phone since last Friday as they...”

18185 have blocked my phone since last Friday as they said I owe money. My account is fully up to date though I did owe a bill for just 47p to 18866 which they did not collect as my card had been renewed and they must have had the wrong expiry date or last three digits. The card was updated and bill paid & I can use 18866 with no problem yet 18185 still have my account blocked. I opened a new account on Friday with 1899 and today that has been blocked as they say I owe money to either them or 18185 or 18866! I have had the 18866 & 18185 accounts for over 10 years and never owed a penny to anybody yet my phone has now been blocked for 4 days over a 47p account. Very poor service & why block an account for such a tiny amount. Why not email & say please update your payment details. I have contacted both companies daily since Friday & no reply from either 18185 or 1899 and my phone is still blocked!

Used for about 6 years. Faultless. Don't think I've ever failed to get through to a number. Use it 4 to 5 times every day. Use to other countries weekly without problems at unbelievably low prices. Quality is as normal as you would get with an ordinary BT line. (I suspect that most of these cheap companies rent the spare lines off BT anyway.) Billing has never been a problem but then again I've never tried to change accounts or numbers with them.
I really should not comment on Customer Service as I have never used them.
Make sure you follow the instructions when using a mobile - use the # (hash) key - NOT the green call button. Having said that I've never used 18185 on my mobile.

Be careful if you move house. I have and was allocated a new landline number. When I tried to register the new number on my existing a/c with 18185, I was prevented as the previous person who had the number held a 18185 a/c but hadn't bothered to notify them. I gave them a week's notice to try and confirm with the previous person that it wasn't now their number. A month on I'm waiting to hear how they propose I reimburse that person as I need a service like this as I don't have inclusive day time calls. I think they are poor at handling this issue.

bad service, no customer service number, today received an invoice on my credit card, seems dodgy I think their payment methode is not secure, be carful, I am terminating the service if I can get hold of someone

you haven't read the operating instructions...you dial the 18185 access number THEN dial the destination number, AFTER dialling the destination number YOU MUST NOT hit the green button on your mobile or you will be charged by both networks....this is clearly stated in the instructions..even the voice prompt instructions state 'dial the destination number...then press HASH key'
<br/> i've use 18186 from landline and esp mobile for years now and have had nothing but excellent service and had no reason to contact customer service....pls don't let this persons review puit you off, he simply didnt follow instructions

“I have used call 18185 and call 18866 since 2004 and I...”

I have used call 18185 and call 18866 since 2004 and I was really happy. My trouble with 18185 started on 27th July 2010 when 5 x invoices were sent to me varying from £36 to £73. The total invoices amounts to approx £300.00. I feared the worst and thought my account have been hacked and tried to log into my account but could not access it either therefore I reported it to my local Police. I tried in vain to contact 18185 but NO SOUL to speak to and my emails were bounced back to me UNDELIVERED. Before the end of the day I got an email from 18866 informing me that there has been a technical error therefore ignore the invoices sent to me earlier on.

Out of fear I have cancelled the direct debit (DDR)with my bank. After a week I got an email message from 18185 informing me that the DDR has been cancelled and offered me an alternative way of settling my account. In good faith I have therefore made a direct bank transfer from my bank for the amount being £50.56. Simultaneously reinstated the direct debit for 18185. I have then received an email from 18185 confirming receipt of my payment. Immediately they sent me another bill for £29.53 for the current month which is not really due for billing until the 24th of the month.

On 27th August I note that they have collected by direct debit £80.08 which meant a double payment of £50.56 from my account. Again I was in dilema trying to contact them by email using the email sent to when they acknowledged receipt of my payment. To date I am remain FRUSTRATED and FEARFULL in the fact that there is no one but one to speak to when things go wrong. Therefore my message to all users of 18185 / 18866 and 18899 is BEWARE!!!!!

Used to be an excellent service, but has gone massively downhill in the past few months. I use them to call abroad from my mobile, so have to dial a London number to get through first. In recent months the number is frequently engaged, or answers and gives me a silent line. Their customer service insist it must be down to my mobile provider, but it's not because I have the same problems from two networks and never have a problem calling anyone else - they clearly just don't have capacity and don't care. I used to spend £30 per month with them, now it's down to about £5. I will soon be switching to my mobile providers discounted international calls - I'd rather have a 5p/min reliable service with no echo on the line than a 1/p min service that only works about 1 in 3 times now. In summary, sign up for them, but don't rely on them and don't expect any help if it doesn't work. PS: If you regularly call abroad from home, try Vonage instead, much more reliable and they offer unlimited calls.

I have used the service for several years without any problems. However when my credit card was renewed I tried to log in to provide the new information but was unable to. There does not appear to be any way to communicate with the company to explain the problem so I may have to use another service in future.

Overall Call18185 just works in the background, you don't get spam and their itemised billing is good. I've been with Call18185 for a while now and have found them as reliable as using my line provider. Their online account works well and makes it easy to track call prices soon after making them.

Very low rates for Canada and Italy that I use a lot.Advertises 4p per min for Ecuador for months on end on rates list on website but this service has never been available, one is referred to another number which charges 8p a minute.
IMPOSSIBLE to contact customer services, "webpage unavailable" or endless loop to back where one started.
Reliable invoices I appreciate that a no frills service attempts to cut "Service" costs but I would like to make a serious complaint about advertised rates not existing in reality to Ecuador and I cannot email this to any form of Customer Service

My phone service was suspended this week, allegedly due to a 'failed payment'. My card company confirms they paid the invoice on the day 'demanded' and my cc statement also shows the bill as paid.. Have sent 2 emails to 18185, to 2 different on-website addresses...no reply.
Also, in the past, several times a connection fee has been charged when connection has failed. Also, calls are sometimes cut off after 1 hr (on chargeable calls) so that the number has to be redialled , with a new connection fee being charged. I have not pursued this due to the minimal costs and inability to find usable contact information for 18185. GW, Jan 29 2009.

Call 18185 UK. Cheap phone service, Customer service shocking, sent me an email saying couldn't take payment from my credit card account, told to set up new one. DID. Two days later another email still couldn't take payment. Sent payment through direct transfer from bank. I emailed them asking that they confirmed receipt of payment. Not a dicky bird!!! Just found out that they had taken payment from credit card after I'd transfered funds. No sign of payment showing on my account. Just tried emailing them and email returned to me unable to send to that email address.
If you receive an email from them saying payment not received , wait a few days to make sure before trying a different method of payment or you too could end up paying twice!!

Register your BT (and some others) landline with Call 18185.co.uk and anytime you want to make a call dial 18185 then the no. you want and it is so much cheaper ie uk calls are FREE, UK mobiles are 6ppm and calls to Aus are 1ppm..I use it all the time and don't know what that person complaining about insufficent funds is talking about about (prob a pre pay mobile customer who's a bit confused) you dial the no and you make the call..there are no charges other than the calls you make and if you don't like it don't go back because there is no contract..it is a brillant service..try it for yourself

I lodged a complaint about the 'insufficient funds' issue and Call 18185 UK responded promptly with 'my account is in good standing' and the issue is resolved. I haven't successfully made any calls since then to any mobiles, problem still exists. Must be a more reliable service somewhere, unless 18185 can explain I may just use another carrier!

I've been using 18185 for years and it's been great , "free" (there is a connection fee) calls to UK landlines 0.5p to USA etc. However lately it's started to let me down and I may see if there is another company with the same rates.

All. I have had no problems at all. Why didn't I find them before. They've saved me a small fortune. I love the 1p sms text function as well. None, they even accept my American express cash back card so it works out cheaper again. A sturdy and robust telephone call supply and have been able to cope with everything I can throw at it both home and overseas
