What a useless Company.Staff training is non-existent, promises of contact are not full filled, nobody knows what each hand is doing.Had a letter from them saying "we cannot contact you" I'm not surprised they were ringing someone else's number? How crackers is that - I've given up and cancelled my contract.

written by on 09/09/2010

I'm so disgusted with this service I've cancelled my Talk Mobile contract after just 2 weeks! I was billed £25 in hidden charges, leaving my bill almost 3 times as high as it should be.

The advertised free minutes and texts on the sim only contract don't start upon purchase, only when Talk Mobile decides a month begins. While this is outlined in the small print, a sales assistant did not make me aware of this at the time of buying. It was assumed I would check the small print and what little of my advertised minutes would be available to me 'pro-rata' before the month begins.

Upon asking for any kind of redemption from my £40 bill because of this, I was told I didn't read the small print carefully and nothing can be done. The staff were apathetic about this and unable to admit the scheme was intentionally malicious. They themselves didn't know how the scheme works and said I was expected to ring customer and check myself. I wasn't even told this at the time of purchasing.

I cancelled my contract immediately and adamantly recommend avoiding Talk Mobile. If you're looking for a cheaper option, you proabably won't get it.

This company is shocking and i dont recommend any one to go with them. I went with them for my mob, with unlim Internet, no mention of fair usage policy on Internet, and they charge £1 per mb if you go over 500mb, which isnt much as they gave me a dongle to use on my computer for normal unlimited fast broadband. On checking up and its hard to find their fair us policy, complain and got people who cant speak english, then next thing I know they have taken over my home number and my broadband with out my permission, canceled and they tried to charge me, so put it through to ofcom who canceled it for me, then next thing you know they send me a laptop out, I asked why and its a free gift for the broadband and phone order, then they wanted me to send it back at my own cost. Told them its here for them to pick it up and Im charging them storage at £10 a day, 6 month later not herd a squeak from them so free laptop!!! But my god dont go with this company ever

joined talktalk then within 2 days all services went down without any explination,after numerous phones calls to talktalk they assured me I would be up and running soon as they were taking over the phone lines from BT. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for 6 months, finally I called them to cancel the services they apologised for my inconvenience and offered me my £49 instllation fee back now i've been hit with a threatening letter from bcw for £207 can they do this.

They have very bad customer service with only Indian call centres. Not happy with the service, yet value for money and signal coverage is good.

“TTalk HOLD GOOD CUSTOMERS TO RANSOM: ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by soffpro on 15/05/2010

TTalk HOLD GOOD CUSTOMERS TO RANSOM:

Hi - I have had appalling connection and service from Talktalk and now i've found I CANNOT SWITCH PROVIDER WITHOUT HEAVY FINANCIAL PENALTY
Talktalk want to impose a £70 cancellation fee and replacement of their line will cost £110 to a BT line

COST OF SWITCHING FROM TALKTALK = £180

i want to switch to Orange, but because TALKTALK now OWN the line into my house that used to be BT, in order to change to a post-office 30day contract to switch, they HAVE TO INSTALL A COMPLETE NEW LINE at the cost of £110 even though my physical telephone line is perfect.

i would bet that no talktalk members are aware of this when they sign up and i consider this UNFAIR TRADING PRACTICE.
___

talktalk have still not answered my questions since i reported a problem on 20th April 2010.

they have admitted they left my computer unprotected for six months even though i paid for Online Premium security, for which i was overcharged.

they have accepted to refund me a paltry £20.

they refused to answer a single specific queston about my concerns and even though my simple requests were in plain English, the english technician used the excuse he was "confused"

only when i told them i had posted the details of my complaint to WATCHDOG did someone respond to my request for a MAC code (which they say i don;t need).

their practice and service has been abysmal, extremely evasive and msileading and i regret signing their contract for a second term. only after insisting they let me out of the contract and not charge me a £70 cancellation fee, did they acceed to crediting me the £70 when the change-over has been completed.

written by tincap on 08/05/2010

initially, changed from orange as ws cheaper. Says on site will handle all changes with orange, found i was still being charged by orange 6 months later as well as talktalk. Phoning talktalk got me nowhere, an email to orange resulted in a nice letter saying they would refund me even though it wasn't their fault. Talktalk service was ok for while had a few problems with the line which were resolved by an english call centre. This was when they were with carphone warehouse. Last few months, when they left carphone very crackly line, like talking to someone through a waterfall, and internet constantly dropping and or unavailable. Got fed up and called talktalk (may 2010). Folk from india that i could hardly understand, and had to keep repeating what i meant that the problem was. Turns out phone is line 1 and broadband is line 2 so has to be dealt with by another department and here is a phone number. Told that crackly line is probably an internal wiring fault and I MUST phone a local phone company to PAY FOR it to be fixed myself. Why should i pay for their faulty equipment to be fixed? Hope the gas company doesn't take the same outlook. Next phoned broadband(line 2) department. Explained several times that broadband cuts out, is unavailable, and can't connect because a box says not configured. Asked what modem i'm using. Speedtouch, the one you supplied me with in the connection bundle. Oh it is out of date and is possibly the cause of the problem. That will be £30 for a new onne from us. I asked that surely they should replace it as isn't that what i am paying for monthly? No, you can pay us for one or renew your contract, which is due to end in 6 months time. I'm not sure i want to renew my contract with this provider, so decline. I am left paying for a service that i can't comnnect to because the supplier won't provide the means to do so unless i commit further and a crackly phone line because i don't have the cash to get another company to fix talktalks equipment. Currently searching other providers for a better deal.

“Subject TALK TALK: Unfortunately i did not read the...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SYLANE on 03/05/2010

Subject TALK TALK: Unfortunately i did not read the reviews that were in the Review Centre. Hopefully my experience will be informative for any potential new customers who are looking to move to a new broadband and telephone provider. I cannot stress clearly enough that you must ensure that you do not under any circumstances join Talktalk.

PLEASE BE WARNED DO NOT SIGN UP OR JOIN TALK TALK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AS THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY THAT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFETIME FOR EXTREMELY NON EXISTENT AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DELIVERY OF THE PRODUCT THAT THE CHARGE YOU FOR. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY DYSFUNCTIONAL,USELESS, FRAGMENTED AND A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT.

I will now give you more specific actual details, which does not make good reading especially if you are thinking of joining Taltalk. I decided to join TT in February 2010 as i initially believed all the hype and PR that they may deliver a good service. All i required was a reliable broadband up to 10mb and a reliable land line telephone service. You can always judge a good company not by its rhetoric and PR but very simply when things go wrong or breakdown how quickly and efficiently they spring into action to fix the issue or problem. In this case here is my story. Having joined Talk talk in February 2010 my broadband and telephone began to go wrong in March 2010. My telephone line was consistently very crackly and it was at times impossible to have any conversation and i had to speak to people on my own mobile phone. At the same time my broadband complete stopped working and froze as soon as i received a call or if i used the telephone. My broadband SPEED according to TT was estimated to deliver 5.5 MB yet when i used Talk talks own speed test i was only getting about 300 to 400 mps. Of course this was only when it was working as the broadband was disconnecting and dropping the line constantly, which made it impossible to use the broadband as it was too frustrating as it was disconnected more than connected. I then decided to swap the filter, change the internal telephone cable from the BT box and my cable to the computer. But all to no avail. To me it appeared to be almost certain that the problem was external that is between Taltalk and my house. I also use a WI FI laptop as it is wireless and my broadband was still slow and disconnecting.

In March I then decided to call TT customer support..what a shambles .. the 1st thing you are asked to do after listening to loads of rubbish is to input your telephone number and eventually after waiting for ages you are then asked for your number again when you get through. I then asked why you have to give then the number twice and none of Talk TALK STAFF actually know why ! After getting through it turned out to be the most dysfunctional, fragmented useless company that i ever encountered in my life time. You call one broadband technical number and they fob you off after getting you to spend up to 2 hours plugging and unplugging all types of telephone and broadband wires in your house. Then the tell you your broadband is working OK even though they now have your test confirmation results available on their screen proving that it is only delivering about 300 mps when working. Talktalk think that 300mps is acceptable even though i was disconnected while on the phone to them. They then gave me a different number and told me to call the telephone customer support. When i call CS they take me through all the same type of tests again and even though they can hear the crackling on the line they tell me the problem is the broadband. So you can see immediately what i mean by dysfunctional as there is absolutely no team work and when you speak to their CS you quickly get the impression that they are all completely separate entities who do not help or communicate with one another. What i have discovered is that their most important priority is to close the call even though your problem is not fixed as soon as they have given you a another telephone number. When you eventually get through the talk Talk support have great difficultly understanding and comprehending English, which is false economy by not having a dedicated UK support.

The above is just a small fragment of my experience and what what i encountered on my initial telephone calls with Talk Talk customer support and you may be forgiven for thinking that over 6 weeks later yes 42 days that i can use my telephone and broadband! The answer is absolutely not the latest broadband speed test on TT own site is still about 330 mps when it works and my telephone still crackling.

There is not enough space or time for me to document consistently without boring you. So far i have literally spent hours and hours, which probably add up to days and i have lost count of the number of telephone calls that i am completely frustrated that in order to save money TT use foreign support staff who in my opinion and actual experience are absolutely useless and a waste of time and money. During the last 6 weeks plus i was informed even by a Manager that talk talk would send out an Engineer within 48 hour..guess what..you are correct Engineer never arrived and i did not receive any communication either by telephone or by email from talk talk and this is from a company who is supposed to deliver communications..what a let down . Since the start i have been promised 3 Engineers at different times as some staff concluded my problem was external telephone problems..guess what none of them ever arrived and when i asked why i was not informed that someone at Talk talk decided to cancel i was told " THAT IT WAS NOT DEEMED NECESSARY TO SEND AN ENGINEER OUT" in other words TALK TALK DID NOT WANT TO SPEND ANY MONEY IN ORDER TO RECTIFYING MY LONG STANDING ISSUES.

Obviously at this juncture i am left with no other alternative but to change my supplier even though I am theoretically contracted with TT for 18 months, however effectively talk talk have broken the contract by continually failing to deliver the contracted service that they promised especially as i have given them over 6 weeks to solve the issues, but they are not too concerned and do not acre. They will eventually when other TT customer move to new and more reliable providers who will actually value their customers and provide the service that the customer is paying for.

To sum up only a blind and deaf fool would even consider joining Talk Talk never mind actually joining particular after my experience which i have only documented a tiny fragment of my actual experience of the past 42+ days. You would reasonably think that when you as a customer encounters a problem with a service that you would only have to make one call to that company and if that company was any good its support and engineering staff would work together as a team to resolve your problems and issues as soon as possible. Not with Talk Talk. You would reasonably expect that you would at least have received one call from TT just to find out if you still had a problem and if you are satisfied..not with talk talk you wont as they don't care so long as you are still paying the monthly charge and they have closed the call and passed the buck to another section.

So be warned you cannot now say that you were not aware or forewarned that Talk Talk service and support is in my opinion, experience and honestly held experiences are the worlds worst provider of broadband and telephone line services in every respect.

Avoid like the Plague.
Was with Tiscali (also bad service initally) but was Ok for about a year. Talk Talk took over my Tiscali account and hiked up the prices by £4.00 per month. To save any hassle I decided to give Talk Talk a go. However as soon as the switch over took place Talk Talk cut me off!! Rang "customer services" and was informed that I would need to ring another number (and expensive 0871 no. Have been reconnected, but broadband keeps cutting out.

Again avoid Talk Talk. Dont do it unless you are lonely and like spending time on the phone (at great expense) speaking to someone who does not have a clue what he/she is doing. NB Had to click on the stars to post review. In fact I give Talk Talk no stars.

TalkTalk broadband is shocking, I'm 9 months in and still getting disgustingly slow speeds and the connection drops off every 5 minutes or so. it's been doing this for 9 months (the last 3 of which I've been waiting for their engineer to come and have a look at the exchange.

I disagree with this review because...
<br/>
<br/>it is possibly the easiest network to dissconnect from.
<br/>
<br/>simply go to www.talkmobile.co.uk
<br/>
<br/>on the homepage there is a big bar on bottom right that says simple dissconnections.
<br/>
<br/>thats it.
<br/>
<br/>In regards to costing a fortune. they are &pound;6 a month. that's hardly a fortune.

I've got my home phone and internet with talk talk, its cheap, better than BT, customer services are good (if you get through) so I put my daughter on talk mobile, she gets her credit each month, were happy, she wants more, maybe when she starts doing the dishes, but she can ring us for free and we can ring her for free, so if you've got children, it's the best, if there all on talk talk, plus family and friends, everyone rings each other for free, beat that!

I have just transferred to Talk Talk, as they give free broadband for as long as you stay with them.

I have been trying to contact Customer Service for THREE DAYS!! When I did get through I talked to a manager regarding my landline and broadband, and without consulting me they have put me on "Keep your Number private" so any call I make to someone with Caller ID, my call is blocked. The manager informed me that it will take THREE DAYS to change!! Also regarding broadband, I was advised that Talk Talk would arrange cancellation of my existing supplier. The manager told me I would have to obtain a Migration Authorization Code, but this only applies if I had broadband with BT, which I don't.

I was told by Talk Talk that there was good coverage in my area, so I went ahead and ordered the Sim card, registered and put £10 on it, but I have not been able to use it. Carphone Warehouse reckon my phone's at fault, even though it works perfectly with O2, Orange and Vodafone. I think they want me to buy another phone, which I don't intend to do. I will switch back to Orange or O2. I'm cross because I won't be able to get my £10 back.

written by PoohsMate on 24/03/2006

Talk Talk is owned by The Carphone Warehouse, as such it is being promoted by them. Talk Talk is only available as a pay-as-you-go with a minimum monthly payment of £10 (even if you use less). Any "credits" roll forward for one month then are lost, but you must pay the £10 eitherway.

Yes you can keep your old number you have to tell them beforehand that you want to keep it
Report this content BryanH1N1 Written on: 14/03/2014
Yes, Just request a PAC code (porting authorisation code) from Tesco telling them you wish to transfer your old mobile number to your new handset from TalkTalk and then let TalkTalk know that this is how you want the SIM set up. TalkTalk will ask you for your PAC code which Tesco provide you with. Just make sure the PAC code (usually valid for 1 month around time of transfer) is eligible to be used when you get your estimated "go live" date from TalkTalk.( this is the time when the new handset can be switched on and registered with TalkTalk's network provider for mobile services, it happens that Vodafone provide the cellular network coverage for Talkmobile so coverage is usually very good). If all goes well you'll be a very happy Bunny just like I was.(And also a bit richer every month)

All mobile providers have the facility to transfer a customers number to another network. Best for you to check you do not have any commitments to fulfill on Tesco mobile (if you have a contract) before making the move. Most will transfer your number in 3 to 5 days. Also use up any remaining minutes on Tesco mobile as this will not be transferred. Just need a PAC code from Tesco mobile to do the transfer.
