“Great service from Autoreisen!”

Hired a car from Autoreisen in Fuerteventura last month and couldn't fault their service. Having had some major problems with the big car hire companies (Budget in particular) in recent years I decided to try this relatively small company on the basis of an excellent review from Which. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend them. They were pretty cheap and the car was in good condition. My wife was added as a second driver for free. They have fair fuel and insurance policies and don't try to push extras onto you. The person at the airport desk was friendly. I had a problem one morning when the car wouldn't start. I phoned the number given to me at the airport and within about 40 minutes a transporter arrived at my hotel with a new car and took away the old one without a quibble. Autoreisen were cheap, efficient, friendly, helpful, transparent and fair - what more can you ask? - pity some other car hire companies wouldn't take a leaf out of their book.

“Cheap, but for a reason”

I hired a Hyundai H1 9 seater for 7 days for a fee of €276, almost €100 cheaper than the nearest rival. Naturally, I was concerned by such a low price, so checked out reviews on reviewcentre and tripadvisor, with most saying the vehicles are a little more used but perfectly usable and represent excellent value for money. We arrived at just after 8pm and after charging my credit card, headed out to collect the minibus. Things didn't start so well when the minibus refused to start, owing to a flat battery. I headed back to the office and reported the issue, for the girl to come out with the key and try to start it herself - same result. She told me their cars are 'very well checked' and it's 'very surprising' that it wouldn't start. 5 minutes later we were brought an identical replacement which started without issue. After driving the minibus for a week, I noticed several issues. On full left lock, the right hand suspension made a concerning clunk - assumedly the slightly twitchy steering was related to this. The clutch and gearbox had character, often denying me reverse unless I resorted to brute force. Brakes weren't the best. That said, it was reliable - starting every day and we covered just under 600kms over the 3 days we used it - visiting mount teide on one of them. The one thing that did annoy me was the dropping off of the vehicle - I parked it outside the same office I'd collected it from and the rather rude desk lady looked very put out at me having done this - no thank you nor a goodbye. As it stands, I'm uncertain if I'd use autoreisen again - the saving we made on the car was attractive, but I'm not sure I could put up with another temperamental herbie car.

“Slow service, unhelpful staff”

Just used Autoreisen in Lanzarote for a week. Here's my experience. Picked up the car at the airport but had a long wait to do so with very slow service at the counter. Had requested a Ford Focus which was a driver as to why I went with this company. Turns out they don't have any Ford Focus cars and most are Citreons, which are not to my taste. The car was sold to me with 3/4 tank of fuel but in fact only had 1/4 of a tank. That's a difference of 35 euros if I hadn't seen it. The car also had dents on it front and back. None of the scratches/dents were marked on the sheet and no one showed me to the car or showed me around. I just got a set of keys and made my way to a numbered bay where I picked up the car. Luckily my girlfriend was well on the ball and we got all of our paperwork flagged with all the points we noticed. Overall I cannot recommend this lot. The only saving grace was the fact that on return to the airport after my holiday there was no fuss and no charges were added so they did stick to the price quoted. There are plenty of other choices for car hire in Lanzarote. Shop around.

I did the same once then it was pointed out to me there is nothing to pay on the insurance and no deposit on your card that's why they don't bother marking down any bumps scratches etc nobody is held responsible.

“LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE”

On arrival at Tenerife North airport we were upgraded to a BMW car but given very minimal information on controls on how to start the car using a fob instead of key ignition. It was dark and pouring of rain, outside parking, no lighting and great reluctance to assist even though my husband and I are in our 70's and he is disabled. I have written to Autoreisen three times and have not received any acknowledgement of my complaint or apology for bad service. The price is right but at the cost of service.

“Excellent car hire company”

We recently used this company for car hire in Gran Canarias. As stated there were no hidden costs. No attempt to charge more for insurance or for additional drivers. The fuel deal is that the car is one quarter full when you pick it up and you take it back one quarter full so no hidden fuel charge. The pick up and drop off were easy at the airport.To top it all we accidentally left our camera in the car when we took it back. We phoned Top Car Autoreisen when we returned to the UK. They contacted the people who had taken the car out the same day and the camera was returned to their office the next day by the new clients. Thanks to those kind folks who took time out to do that!. We organised pick up the camera at the Top Car Autoreisen office and we have since had the camera back. The office staff even packaged it for us. So thanks the staff of Top Car Autoreisen at Gran Canaria airport!!!we will certainly use this company again.

“Excellent car hire”

We booked our car hire on line and collected the car from Fuerteventura Airport. The car was a Fiat Panda. We had it for the whole week and it was great. We only paid 89 euros for the whole week plus we bought 40 euros of petrol during our travels. We dropped it off at the airport on our return and handed back the keys. Very inexpensive and simple car hire. Would definitely do it again. The cost of trips, taxis and buses would far outweigh the cost of the car hire as we were staying in a quiet location, and you have the convenience of the car being just outside.

“financial issue with fuel..be careful !!”

Car was ok and very cheap, but they charged me incorrectly for extra fuel. Got the car with +3/4 tank and returned full. That was a profit for them, but after returning home my account was charged with 9 euros. After sending email they stated that there was not enough fuel in tank! They claim not to earn money with fuel, but this seems to me proving the opposite.

Decent cars, generally get an upgrade and also most importantly they includes excess damage waiver along with collision damage waiver (unlike most other companies). One to avoid - argus car hire!

“Check the Tyres on Your AutoReisen Hire Car”

After reading several positive reviews of AutoReisen, I was shocked by the worn and damaged state of tyres of the first car hire we picked up at Las Palmas Airport. We had to spent the first morning of our holiday driving to the AutoReisen office to pick up another car. Guess what, it also had worn and damaged tyres. I can't believe that tyres like this is are legal in Spain. We certainly didn't feel safe driving on tyres like that. I was unhappy that although I requested to pay in the Euro, this request was ignored and I was charged in UK pounds. As my credit card has no overseas transactions fees I am better off paying in Euro. I also thought that the Toyota Yaris we were given was a smaller car than an equivalent to a Citreon C3

I have used this company 4 times whilst visiting Lanzarote and Grand Canary. Hire rates are very reasonable and the quality of car is very good. They do not hassle you with extra insurance. There is no rip off on fuel policy. The staff are always very helpful. It is a pity that they only operate in the Canarys. Very quick and efficient check ins.

We used Autoreisen for a two-week rental from Tenerife South airport in October, very good value, no upfront charges, collection and return within 5 minutes. Fuel was about a quarter and we left the same. The car was exactly as booked, a Ford Focus. Older model with over 160,00km on the clock so some scratches and scrapes but immaculately clean inside and out and an excellent drive. No attempt to charge us for anything extra. Well done, Autoreisen, will definitely use them again.

“Very Good But - Oh so slow”

Rent a car regularly from Arrecife airport. The cars are good, the prices are excellent but very slow service. Just had the worst of all my visits, went to the desk on 2/9/13 at 11am, two clients in front of me, it took exactly in hour to complete and get the keys. Returned at 11am on 2/9/13, there was a queue to collect keys. I tried to leave my returned keys on the desk, assistant kept saying "you wait". After 15 minutes I realised I may be late for my flight and just had to leave the keys on the desk and walk off. The system at Cabrera Medina is much more efficient. AutoReisen please get your admin system sorted out or you will lose valuable custom.

“Autoreisen Lanzarote Airport - PERFECT!”

Paid just £275 all in for 17 days car hire with AR - this is in the peak summer season of 2013. We collected the car from ACE airport and AR had upgraded our car from a Seat Ibiza to a Citroen C3 Picasso - it was brand new..only 7 KM's on the clock! For the price and also the free child seats they have this firm is unbeatable. Only one slight criticism i would have is that their office at the airport is closed from 00.00 hrs to 0700...if, like us, we were returning the car before 7am(we were leaving the car back at the airport early for a 5am check-in). Personally i wasn't happy about leaving the car without having anyone to check it over. Altho' i new there was no damage not even a scratch on the car, we've all heard horror stories about rental companies charging customers Huge fees for 'Damage' apparently done to rental vehicles. This minor point aside, we were delighted with the car, the price paid, and the ease of booking on their website.

“Excellent- simple, quick and easy”

Booked a week in Gran Canaria in June 2013. Booked a car from airport/return to airport with Top Car Autoreisen on internet a couple of months in advance. Very simple, no deposit to pay, confirmed booking by email. Arrived at airport terminal, found check-in desk, check-in very simple and quick, no queues, very polite helpful assistant, was given keys and went to car park to find vehicle. When I found it I realised it was too large for just 2 of us (my mistake) so I went back to check-in where the girl happily found a smaller car which I was happy with and refunded £60 to me without any issues. Absolutely no problems with car during week. It was young, low mileage, comfortable and didn't drink petrol. After enjoyable week returned to airport and dropped off they keys and it was all done. No fuss, no problems, no waiting. A pleasure. Would definitely use them again.

Just returned from 3 week break in Fuerteventura, had previously booked the hire car, went to the desk in the arrivals hall immediately on arrival and had the keys before the luggage had arrived, (very pleasant quick service) 5 minute walk to the car, and away. Car was a Citreon 4 door, we had 3 large bags (3 people) lower half the rear seat for the bags again no problem. Returned at holidays end after fuelling the car back to the level when collected no problems at all. Again a very friendly pleasant service. I have used other hire companys before (off site) and I now see where I had been going wrong, with these companies they were off site, you wait for the minibus transport and then wait a long time waiting in a queue behind other passengers, (long delays)I was then having to pay extra monies for insurances etc that were not mentioned on my initial quotation. Also I was told my car had a full tank of petrol which again I paid for only to notice immediately that it was only half full. I fully recommend Top Car Autoreisen, YOU GET WHAT I SAYS ON THE TIN I paid approx 250 GBP for 3 weeeks no extras, no problems. Do not hesitate, very satisfied customer.

jumped off the plain at lanzarote on 13/6/13 collected our bags and in 5 minutes i was driving out of the airport! i ordered a twingo but they gave me a bigger 4 door car at no extra cost, just bring the car back with the same fuel that was in the tank, it cost me £98 for 14 days car hire so i cancelled my transfers from thomas cook which were £40 so it cost me less that £60 happy days!!

no you dont pay a penny untill after you bring the car back, they just take a card number when you pick it up

Would like to rent a car on the 29th May have a Ryanair flight FR3489 doesn't land till 22.50, but l see they close at 23.00 is it possible for someone to wait for us at the office? I would be grateful for a quick response as l need to book soon. Regards

Thanks! Autoreisen have said they want 100 euro deposit if paying for car hire with a debit card......have you heard of a company called Cicar that are based on tenerife?? They too have said they will take debit card or cash for car hire with no credit card nor deposit.....wondered if they were an ok company??
