Although The Panasonic Th-42pw4b Screens Are A Bit

Although the Panasonic TH-42PW4B screens are a bit old now we still use them 5 years on and they seem to last forever as they have lost no screen quality. You can pick them up on ebay now for around 3-400 pound (usually including wall bracket) which is about 3k less than they costObviously they are not HD but still a great buy second hand to use as a tv till HD is fully implemented. We have 3 that we use when we make stands for clients at exhibitions and hire from a shop if we need any extraOne point to mention is the side speakers can cost more than a second hand display. The amplifiers are built in so you can use any old speakers with them and control sound from your remote.Another good point is how hard it is to incure screen burn on these unitsOther older plasma makes are very prone to this problem and once that have it its very hard if not impossible to get rid of. Although if you act fast you can get rid of it.

After Being Put Off Getting A Plasma Screen By The

After being put off getting a plasma screen by the (slightly 'dubious') picture quality on some early models, seeing the Panasonic convinced me to take the plunge. It's easy to get hung up on all the technical specifications when looking at 'cutting edge' products but, at the end of the day, when the ultimate test of picture quality is applied to the Panasonic TH42PW4B plasma flat screen TV, the verdict is quite simply stunning. I've linked mine to my Hi-Fi for a complete home cinema experience.

Re replacement of components. I bought a Fujitsu PDS 4214 in 12/00 & within 9 months it showed a fault which 9 months later rendered the display completely unusable. Different product but buyer be warned. Eventually fixed free of charge but it took 5 months of wrangling!

Re the 10 year limit on the gas ... Is that 10 yrs of use (no problem at all) or 10 yrs from date of manufacture?

It seems to me that by then we'll all be wanting the new holographic tv's anyway so the gas breaking down ( / leaking out!) could be a useful excuse for the missus! ;-)

Hey baz the guy who was advising you, I think was talking about the legend that is the gas has to be recharged every 5 years- suffice to say this is total crud!, Plasma TV's can last up to 10 years so they say but you cannot recharge them once they're gone, they're gone!

I have bought this Plasma from 21stcenturyAV.co.uk for £2,940 all in , incl delivery & warranty . Looks like you guys were done !!

baz.

Recently i thought of buying a plasma sceen T.V but the sales assistant told me that arround every 5 yrs some component(thingy) within the screen has to be replaced at the cost of arround 500 quid-disadvantage??? Therefore i'm holding off buying one until technology gets over this glitch which i assume it will do quite soon??
