“L3 GP Referral Review”

★★★★★

written by gavinlees on 13/04/2017

Initial contact with HFE was great - I had a person to contact in registrations/reception who had no problem in me referring back to her if I got stuck. My tutor I asked for weekly contact just to touch base. Every Monday I had a phone call to see how I was doing and, for me, this ensured I worked at least an hour a day studying as I wanted someone to report back to. So - I have felt very involved with HFE from day one. Course work notes were complete and detailed. Venue for assessment was fine as were the assessors. Exam venue and times suited me. I have booked another course and am asking for a pay rise from my gym now. I have used the knowledge from the HFE learning/course and already see the benefits for clients from my increased knowledge and also confidence in what services I am allowed to deliver. Great! If I had any areas of improvement or complaint I would have said. All good.

“This Pilates course is excellent, the best one to go for!”

★★★★★

written by KateHaynes1957 on 29/01/2017

So far I am have been working hard for this DIPLOMA since September on the theory. The tutor support is excellent from Monday-Friday 9-5.30 there is always somebody there to speak to, they read their emails daily and respond, and a land line number to dial rather than expensive 08 numbers. The course is well constructed using online and three very informative easy to follow manuals with good diagrams/photos etc. In this highly technical world we do not want to damage our bodies sitting at a computer all the time. An audio version for all the A&P study work is also provided for i-phones, MP3 players, i-pods, i-pads etc. You can do this DIPLOMA studying with a lap top or i-pad. The online content is clearly presented, easy to follow with various smartly dressed tutors that have motivated and clear voices to keep you focussed. A suggested study guide is provided in table format, which I found very useful. The forum is good to find out how other candidates are progressing and to support each other, but with my course for practical in April it does not seem to be used, hence I am communicating with other candidates in another part of north UK. I was recommended this course by a Pilates instructor at my Nuffield health and well being club. I am very glad that I took her advice. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to train as a health and fitness instructor. I think being a qualified yoga teacher has helped me a little with what I am going to achieve with this DIPLOMA. I look forward to seeing more training courses for instructors so we can promote fitness classes for senior citizens, less mobile and people with special needs, i.e. GOLDEN PILATES!!

“Level 3 Certificate in personal training”

★★★★★

written by AndreaBlackburn on 19/01/2017

Fantastic training and support throughout. On-line learning was new to me, and I opened the website and felt quite daunted BUT I contacted my support tutor who went through everything step by step with me, explaining it all and getting me to try things out until I was comfortable with it. Learning materials - website and textbooks. Variety of teaching methods meant that there was something to meet everyone's learning need, whether you prefer reading the textbook or the interactive website. Using both was great as one helped to cement the learning from the other. I really enjoyed the learning, and was self motivated and interested from the start. Regular calls from my support tutor were so valuable to raise anything I had questions about, consolidate my learning, and just to make me accountable, to make sure that I was keeping on track with the work. I couldn't have had better support, he was great, and I am so thankful. Practical sessions - These were thorough, intense and a fantastic grounding in the role of personal trainer. My tutor was once again fabulous, and was able to make sure that with any practical session, the theory was applied, bringing all aspects of the learning together. The learning was enjoyable, fun, varied and the group dynamic was great. The addition of the kettlebell and suspension training was an added bonus. I have had the most positive experience of learning and training through HFE to become a Personal Trainer, and I most definitely recommend the course to anyone planning this career path. Thank you HFE and in particular my 2 tutors.

“Excellent training and tutor support!”

★★★★★

written by Belinda.currie on 13/01/2017

I trained for my Level 3 Award in Nutrition in Physical activity. I chose to study from home with access to a tutor when needed. I found the reading material not only informative but very interesting and really enjoyed learning lots of new things. The course material provided over and above what was needed to pass the exam. I liked this as I wasn't studying to just pass an exam but to learn as much as I can for when I have to put my qualifications into practice. The tutor support was second to none. Not only did I have a great rapport with my tutor but they were supportive, encouraging, not afraid to push me on my knowledge and gave me a good kick when needed. Thank you, have really enjoyed studying for this course.

“Yoga, Pilates, Pre-and Post Natal,Exercise Referral...”

★★★★★

written by PhoenixJordan335 on 11/01/2017

Both these courses were very complementary as the awareness of people's state of health is always a concern for an exercise professional. The yoga course was well-organised with lovely tutors who were very friendly but firm. Practical classes were fun and assessments were carried out with lots of great tips. The exercise referral courses was lead by an experienced tutor who carried out excellent assessments and was very good at picking up on essential points needed for the gym and dance studio. Overall, the courses were great and I am now near completion of Pilates and Pre-and Post Natal Level 3s. These have been great too. I would recommend them.

“Great support ”

★★★★★

written by on 25/12/2016

I have recently completed the Exercise Referral Level 3. The flexibility worked great for me as I am working full time in the industry. If you're motivated to work yourself at home then this is a great option. The support provided by HFE was very good. my contact always came back to me very quickly with any queries which I had and provided good feedback. The practical element of the course was delivered clearly and precisely. All in all I would recommend. Supportive team and cost effective way to gain qualifications.

written by YHaynes on 08/12/2016

Having recently passed the Health Referral Course at HFE I would definitely recommend it! My tutor has been incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout the course. I was very impressed with his knowledge and enthusiasm about the subject. My practical teacher also shared these qualities and really made the course enjoyable. The supporting course booklets are fantastic and will continue to be incredibly valuable to me. Overall my confidence and knowledge about the subject has grown tremendously. I believe that the quality of the course materials and tutoring contributed greatly to this.

“Excellent Level 3 GP Exercise Referral Course”

★★★★★

written by Seymourclearly on 22/11/2016

I was initially interested in Older Adult courses as this is a growing market, but when I spoke to the staff at HFE they were very helpful in explaining the difference between this course and the Older Adult course; this was much more appropriate for me and the participants in my classes as it covered health conditions (13 of them) in detail. I would recommend the course to anyone who is interested in teaching the older demographic. I teach group exercise but find more and more people with health conditions attending classes who need support and advice, this course enabled me to understand their needs and wants and to offer suitable modifications with confidence. It also enabled me to have greater empathy with participants with health issues which in turn makes them loyal advocates of the classes. It's also helpful on a personal level as I have friends and family with some of the health conditions in the course (and no doubt I'll be lucky if I don't get some of them myself). It's a challenging course, but if you read/study all the training materials, complete the online study and do some online study yourself (Youtube has great free info) you will pass. The course tutors are friendly, accessible and offer constructive feedback throughout. I highly recommend this course.

“Impressed from start to finish”

★★★★★

written by DianeFlorenceBaker on 04/11/2016

I have today received an email confirming that I am an HFE Accredited Instructor so I felt this was the time to put pen to paper and do my own assessment on training with HFE. What can I say, I have been impressed with them from day one. Their customer service is second to none, they have answered my queries, or dealt with any problems in record time, and get a gold star for helping me stay on track with my goals after an unexpected stint in hospital. Their on line learning is good - a couple of minor glitches but all in all an excellent learning aid, especially with the quiz questions at the end of each unit. The reading material is clear, understandable and set out in a logical order in line with the course. Now onto the trainers....in Manchester for my first weekend, thank you both for putting me at ease particularly over my age concerns (I am 60), you both played your part in boosting my confidence to carry on. To the lady, on my second weekend in York (Gym Instructor course) put us at ease and helped us through our exam weekend, thank you. Then the two people, (Personal Trainer Course) - brilliant instruction, clear, encouraging, patient and the reason we all feel good about our last weekend. To the man who stepped in for our last weekend to take us through our exams and assessment, we were daunted at having someone new but you made us feel at ease and prepared for our final day. Last but not least.... my on line tutor who has been brilliant throughout. I would have struggled without his weekly input and encouragement - to him: you have been fantastic, thank you. My advice for anyone considering HFE, just do it - you won't regret it.

“HFE - The Best Health & Fitness Provider!! ”

★★★★★

written by iscottbainbridge1 on 25/10/2016

I have been training as a student with HFE for around 10 months and working in the Health & Fitness industry for around 16 years (always at senior Director level). I decided to change my career direction and having a good knowledge of the UK main training providers I opted for HFE to complete my PT qualification. I was so impressed with the company I went on to complete an Exercise Referral and Low Back Pain qualification. The team have been exceptionally professional both at Head Office and 'field' based tutor level. The information, workbooks and subsequent weekend training and assessments have been of a very high quality and my Tutor, is a credit to the HFE team, always positive, professional and with a true caring attitude. I highly recommend to anyone contemplating coming into the Health & Fitness industry to complete your training with HFE - an outstanding company with an outstanding team!

“Excellent course delivery ”

★★★★★

written by Jalenp260 on 15/09/2016

I completed this course, going into it with little experience on Pilates, I've trained in lots of other qualification courses with other companies and this Pilates course by far had the best all round experience for me. The delivery by the tutor was excellent, and the online support from my dedicated tutor was fantastic, quick response times to emails and clear, concise delivery throughout with the help of some very helpful manuals enabled me to pass this course, with little stress. I've now added Pilates to my armoury and can't wait to get teaching :)

“Level 3 Mat Pilates Course - Fantastic”

★★★★★

written by Grosvenordaw on 11/08/2016

No experience of fitness training, just 8 years of attending Pilates classes, so I felt overwhelmed by the course and what was to come. However, I passed, through having support from online learning tutors, on the course in Birmingham. It's a tough course, and you'd expect it to be, a lot of paperwork, but it helps you to learn, I have learnt more than I could ever imagine. Everyone wants you to do well, there is support from everywhere, even fellow colleagues on the course were supportive...I made friends. Revising the anatomy was the toughest because at the age of 43 I had to re-train my mind to sit down and read, but it's worth it. Anyone thinking about a Pilates course should just do it, I can't recommend it enough..THANK YOU HFE X

“Really fantastic!!”

★★★★★

written by Sparrolette on 18/07/2016

Very high standard support and availability of support staff - couldn't rate them higher! The tutors on the learning days were outstanding. An excellent experience all round. The venue wasn't ideal- a bit stuffy but it was a hotel conference room and was absolutely fine and did the job more than adequately and very conveniently located. I will definitely be back for CPD's! Very good price, absolutely good value and very positive experience.

“HFE Absolutely Amazing ”

★★★★★

written by twPennington206 on 10/07/2016

I have completed my Gym Instructors Level 2 and Personal Trainers Level 3 with HFE and they have been absolutely amazing, I could not have wished to pick a better company to complete the qualifications with. Having just turned 40 I have decided I cannot go on with my boring day to day job for the next 25 years so I decided as I love Health and Fitness so much, why not make help people achieve their goals and at the same time get paid to do a job I love. From the start my assigned tutor was amazing, he understood I have not studied for the best part of over 20 years and I really struggled with retaining information. He and all the staff who answered the phone gave such great advice, they was second to the none, the staff are so knowledgeable and have fantastic memory tips to help you retain what you have learnt. The students manuals are off top quality, the online distance web is easy to navigate and full of all the information you need to complete the course. When you attend the days the staff that deliver the course content either in the class room or in a the gym environment are excellent and thoroughly explain everything. I had to retake the A&P level 3 numerous times and the staff never never gave up on me, they always encouraged me and I can finally say through my hard work with a massive amount of support (I wish I could write staff names so they can get the credit they deserve) I passed. I have never been more happy and hopefully I can know go on fulfil my dream and become a full time PT. I would highly recommend HFE, they have been the perfect choice for me.

“Challenging but rewarding course”

★★★★★

written by lucye1975 on 06/07/2016

I had my reservations initially about distance learning and particularly doing a course like this. There are many providers out there offering Personal Trainer Level 3 diploma, but after careful research I picked HFE. I am so glad I did as the level of support I have received throughout has been faultless. Do not be fooled into thinking that this course will be quick and easy. There are no short cuts, you have to put the work in yourself. It covers every component of fitness, as well as anatomy and even health and safety. It makes you realise quite quickly that working in this industry is no easy thing to achieve and trainers are required to know a lot of information. You need to be prepared about the level of physiology and anatomy you need to learn, as this was quite a challenge. In fact, all the work and assessments were challenging. It was fantastic to do the weekend courses and meet like minded people and form a group that supported each other over the whole weekend course process. All the tutors were fabulous at delivering these weekends and made sure we all understand and executed everything correctly. My tutor has been a rock throughout. He has helped me enormously and has called and emailed regularly throughout. He has advised and steered me whenever I have needed. Also the online learning system that is available is also a huge help. It really does break things down in a manageable way and allows you to do mock tests to check your progress. All in all I cannot recommend this course highly enough through HFE. If you want professionalism then I would not hesitate to pickthem.

“Level 2 Gym Instructing Qualification”

★★★★★

written by deborahegan10 on 28/06/2016

Just completed my level 2 Gym Instructor Cert with HFE. From the first phone call I knew that HFE would be the company to choose. They have chosen their staff right from teachers to support and learning staff. I felt confident that I had all the support and resources I needed to complete this course to the best of my ability. Practical element were motivating, informative and supportive. Cath was a great teacher giving constructive feedback and her knowledge of the human body was brilliant. The online resource e-learning was good because it encompassed visual/audio/kinaesthetic learners. A few clichés with the e-learning not updating when you had completed a module however HFE are looking into why it was doing that. Overall a professional, supportive and motivating company to do courses with and I would highly recommend them.

“MAT PILATES LEVEL 3”

★★★★★

written by v1ctoria on 15/05/2016

I signed up for this course as I loved Pilates and not really knowing what to expect. When the A&P books arrived I was totally out of my depth. I need not have worried, kept me on track, had regular revision sessions and was always at the end of the phone, She encouraged me when I felt I couldn't do it and continually kept me positive and was with me all the way. I passed my A&P due to her continued support. The actual course was also very good, they were extremely supportive and helped and encouraged all the way. All the staff at HFE have been great, she has also been at the end of the phone helping and encouraging me, So a big thank you to the office and the course! I am now fully qualified and now teaching Pilates. THANK YOU.

“Exercise to Music, great course with great support. ”

★★★★★

written by avSmith410 on 05/05/2016

Having just completed the Level 2 Exercise to Music course with HFE I can definitely recommend both this company and the course. I rang to enquire about the course and had all the questions I had regarding the course answered in one call. I’d wanted to do the ETM course for years but had been put off by a few things, mainly the timings of the courses and also the cost but HFE ran a course which suited me on both fronts. Lots of ETM courses I’d looked at were are either for a few hours each week for the best part of a year (!) or for full weeks – which just isn’t possible if you work full time and your job is not in the exercise industry. Also the cost - some of the courses I looked at were 3 times the price for the same qualification!! The home study, I’ll be honest is not an easy option as you do have to commit to the programme but both of the study manuals (anatomy and physiology and principles of exercise) that you need are sent to you on enrolment. You are also sent a music CD that you can use for the practical part of the course. On enrolment you are assigned a course support tutor who you can call at any time. My support tutor was great. A few days after I enrolled she got in touch to say Hi and to organise our weekly catch up calls, which was lovely, as to be honest I thought that once I’d paid up I wouldn’t get much support as the course was ‘distance learning’. My tutor was available for advice both over the phone or via e-mail and offered to help with revision sessions. Although I didn’t ask for revision sessions I would recommend them as just prior to our exams the whole class had a quick recap session and some of the handy hints that we were given by my tutor were invaluable. The first study weekend is INTENSE – but enjoyable, everybody felt a little shell shocked after the first day - even the students who already worked in gyms! But the nice thing about the course was that there was a real mixture of students, we all came from different back grounds, were all ages and all had different plans for what we would like to do on achieving the ETM qualification BUT we were all in the same boat when it came to the course work and the practical assessment. I would say to anyone who fancies doing this course, give yourself enough time to study for the exams and remember everybody is nervous before the practical assessment. GOOD LUCK and Go for it – you won’t regret it!!!
