“Do not make the same mistake as us by using them.”

written by ElaineO'Donnell449 on 17/12/2015

Nothing but hidden charges and rude customer service staff since the day after we joined them. The latest scam is to charge a fuel rate for Diesel almost 12p a litre above the forecourt price. We were promised savings on diesel purchases by thier sales rep. I have just cancelled all my cards a month before they are up for renewal and they tell me they will be charging me for next years subscription anyway. That just about says it all!!!

“Hidden charges all of over the place!!!! AVOID!!!”

written by LAMofficefurniture on 19/10/2015

If you don't keep an eye on the price it just keeps rising. My MD did not check and we were paying 10p a litre above the pump price when I took over the running of the fuel accounts. Also we were charged £172 for fuel card that were never received. I questioned this and asked for a refund and it was point blank refused. Stay well clear! Go to BP or Shell direct, not the cheapest but no costly surprises waiting.

“Avoid this company”

written by Bradley49 on 02/10/2015

They are overpriced and add things to your account like ECO and Insurance without your say so. I have asked for these to be refunded but no answer so far. I will either claim though the banks direct debit guarantee or invoice them and if they refuse to pay let the small claims court decide. This rates as one of the worst companies I have dealt with. A star rating of terrible over rates this company.

“Terrible Company”

written by on 25/09/2015

I have been with this company only a short time - needed to change the DD mandate which was duly email to the Account Executive, a fortnight later this had not been action so the Fuelcard Company Charge me £90 for a return DD fee and well as being charged £35 from my old bank. Accepted there might have been a delay so paid with the Company Credit Cards. Next week came along and exactly the same happened - the DD mandate had still not been put on the system. Got very irate at this because the card were put on stop and this left some of my people stranded for fuel. The matter is still not resolved and the Fuelcard company refused to lift the fee's for bounced DD's and will not reactivate the cards and will not accept it's their fault. So not only have I had unfair charged from them, I have had to pay charges to my old bank and pay compensation to my employee's Stay well away from this company

“Wouldn't recommend to anyone.”

written by DonovanBeasley on 06/11/2014

This company is awful. They took the money out of the wrong account which resulted in bank charges which they have still not refunded. They charged me for insurance I was not offered or given the opportunity to decline. Their prices are higher than most pumps. Their customer service only contact you when they want something, and they don't follow up on complaints. I can think of no good reason to use this company.

“Cancellation Nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Norwooddv304 on 15/08/2014

Had been with the Fuelcard company a couple of years and after the initial good rates there wasn't much point in using the cards as we were better off just using the companies credit cards at the st and the number of stations that stopped using the cards etc also made it not worth our while. After several customer calls where we explained the poor rates etc and nothing changed we tried to cancel in Jan, they assured us they would get a better rate but again to no avail. In April we called to cancel and they said the would put a hold on the account no charges would be incurred. In Jun we received a invoice for new cards issued which we never requested or received! We called again and were told they need a written notification of cancelling, which we immediately sent through. In July another invoice received for "Eco Points"?! was sent to us. Further relentless calling into August and repeatedly forwarding our cancellation email to numerous advisers it was agreed the account was stopped an no further charges. However after more calls to the company they have agreed to refund the Eco Points but only half the card charges (for the cards we never received). Very poor service, never called back when they said they would, never going near these companies again, not worth the hassle!

“Fees not fair, customer service takes 3+ weeks to reply”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jaylynu246 on 20/03/2014

I cancelled my card with Fuelcard today. I had a written agreement with Fuelcard that our business would never be charged a 'non use charge' (£36 per quarter) because our business is seasonal. I was charged the non use charge in Feb. 2013 and Fuelcard refuse to stand by the written agreement. They say it was an agreement with a person at Fuelcard and their opinion and may not be the views of the company. The letter is written on Fuelcard letterhead, by a Senior Accounts Manager in 2010. On 25 Feb. , the day I received my invoice from Fuelcard with this NUC charge, I sent and email with the written agreement attached. On 17 March (21 days later) with no reply I sent another email and finally received a reply from customer service. In the meantime while I was waiting for customer service to respond a new card was issued and charged to my account £15. I have closed my account today because my business doesn't start up again until May and I would be charged another NUC £36 at the end of April. So, Fuelserve has just ripped me off for £50. I can also say that over the years customer service have been more and more difficult to deal with. Long delays are normal.

“Charging Fee's”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/01/2014

I have used the Fuelcard Company since November 2009, I had no Invoices for the first few weeks and had to check the online account to find out what I had used and when it was due out of the Bank, after a Direct Debit was returned for the 1st time due to their negligence, I was advised I need to put up a Bond of £500 in order to keep the account, I did this, i can't say there is anything wrong with the facility they offer, however you do pay more than you would at the pumps, they ask you to call each week when you receive your costing in order to renegoctiate a better deal, why? I don't know, if you challenge them on anything they always advise you to read our Terms & Conditions, which aren't really that straightf forward either I no longer require the Fuelcard and advised them of this, they cancelled the card immeadiatlely have advised I shall be liable for any charges incurred for the next 3 months, I cancelled the Direct Debit paid the Account in full and today I have anew Invoice with a charge of £95.00 for the Direct Debit being returned, as I owe nothing the Account is terminated why have I this charge? Well let's away the reply from Fuelcard Company......I would strongly recommend you have a look an alternative Company that make you aware of any Charge that would be applicable of any Account they offer.

“Honeymoon period over?”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/10/2013

We started using these cards from the Fuelcard Company mid July, so 3 months exactly. At first everything was absolutely fine. Texaco is generally more expensive then other companies so the 2p a litre off we were getting on diesel meant they were comparable with Esso, Shell etc. We liked that we could fill up the vans and then pay for both via one invoice 2 weeks later. No more hundreds of diesel receipts to sort out every month. So far so great. Then 11th October we get the weekly price notification email for the following week. Diesel is 120.89p per litre (plus VAT that becomes 145p). Texaco garages in our area are selling at around 140.9p. So WHY would we pay 4p a litre MORE for diesel despite the convenience of the cards? So, if we've filled up at a Texaco we've used our normal debit/credit cards. BUT I have just received the latest invoice and there is included an "underused account admin fee of £4.95 plus VAT!! Is that going to be charged fortnightly or once a month or what? I've emailed them to complain but it's too early to have received a reply yet, so watch this space. But it's beginning to look like a massive rip off to me.

“Watch the "rate" you are recieving”

★☆☆☆☆

written by fredfred445 on 15/08/2013

We started off with these people promising the world. The cards arrived, and then we realised the promises we had been made about keyfuels weren't quite true - see previous review. Once you get your head around how keyfuels work (find the HGV filling sites and learn how to hold the HGV nozzle to fill a car/van), then we got to grips with keyfuels. The first invoice arrived however, and we realised we were paying well above pump price (about 5p/litre. It was even more expensive than a motorway service station!) We then stopped using them, and shopped around. We applied to the fuelcard co again without realising it (they have a fake "comparison" website, where you dial in your details, and surprise surprise, the only people who they recommend are themselves!). They then said they could do us a better tariff, and put us on quite a good price (about 10p below average pump price). We were off and away. We even, about 3 months into it, raised the credit limit because we kept hitting our credit limit, which they happily accepted. This persisted for about 5 months, then suddenly, without warning, the price started creeping up again, over a period of 2-3 weeks I contacted them, was told price of diesel, you get it cheaper because it is a bunkered service, but that means it is more sensitive to price variations, etc, etc. Then I realised we had slowly been put back onto the stupid "over pump price" tariff. I contacted them again, and they denied it, until I pointed out that they are 4p/litre more expensive than the local M1 motorway services. It was at that point they claimed we had recieved an adverse report from Experian (despite nothing having changed). After a couple of weeks wasting time waiting for non-existent callbacks, I finally spoke to someone who suggested we leave a "deposit", so then they could put us back onto the better price. One to avoid. For reference - we have made £180k clear profit in the past 6 months, and have sent them accounts to back this up. We have never missed a payment with them, and our average weekly spend is around £500. I do not like being held to ransom without warning, being lied to about the cause of the price rise, then being treated like an idiot. They should perhaps remember that they are dealing with people who run a business, not some council estate tenants who are always running into debt. AVOID. I agree with all the comments on the previous review, although we were on a different product.

“Shocking company avoid at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ultimateappliances on 25/02/2013

Where do I start? thefuelcardcompanysupply our fuel cards and we have nothing but problems with them from start to finish. The Diesel Advance is the top up fuel card system which is great, on paper, for newer businesses. However, don't be fooled as thefuelcardcompany will soon start causing you problems. Here are the problems we face EVERY SINGLE DAY: - You cannot top up at all! I have tried 8 times whilst typing this due to their shoddy system! - Put £500 on the account and they take duplicate payments so you end up paying 2 lots, and they loose the second amount so its not applied to your account so you have lost £500 and have to have an investigation into the mess before eventually getting the money back! - The listed fuel card stations do not accept the card so once fueled up and the card is declined, as our drivers have found, be prepared to have threats for the police to be called, humiliation, ID taken so on so forth when trying to do a job. - Contact their support, what support? We have some useless toe rag called Luke who is yes you guessed it useless...... apparently nobody else has the above problems so they cannot see why we have them (is their attitude) oh wait I see the problem doh!! Useless. What good is the above when you are trying to top up at 22:30 at night - its now 22:54 and I am still trying!!!! Stay away from them and use a decent fuel card company!
