Payment sense approached me in February this year, we explained we did not want to start the contact until 1st July, however despite all being agreed in writing they started the contact immediately, and it was then we found all the hidden charges, we contacted payment sense to report the problems, it was then we were told that we had 'electronically signed' (which we had no knowledge of) their so called contract and we we're tied in for 5 years!!! We had never even seen the contact, the 'agreements' were completely different to the quote we had from them and the % rates had nearly doubled definatley not something any of us would have signed. We completely refused to pay them a penny, and after months of our letters being ignored, and them continuously demanding payment etc.... we finally have had a full refund and confirmation that we are no longer in any way associated with them. Their underhand business techniques of mis selling is disgusting and they hide behind legal jargan !! we managed to prove they had broken their own so called contract several times if any one else is suffering at the hands of this so called company then please feel free to contact us, we would love to help and not let them get away with underhand business!

Having been approached by the person I dealt with in my salon about cheaper card machine rates thrugh payment sense. I decided to follow up his offer and swap from Barclays to payment sense. big mistake, although the rates are cheaper the customer service is appalling, If you have any faults at all it is that you only responds to half of his emails. he told me the rental was £15 a month when actually its £21.60 he also didn't explain in would take 5 working days to reach the account... and if your business closes later than 6pm it goes onto the next day which makes it SIX WORKING DAYS before money is seen in the account, this really messed up my cash flow and when I asked for help they weren't interested. It is a 5 year contract aswell so be careful, I have spent hours on the phone trying to make sense of it all.And also beware all the hidden charges you sign up to that he doesn't mention when installing the machine. Things like till rolls, some sort of internet banking portal...all stuff you don'treally need but are in the contract and automatically givento you with no explanation. once you sign that contract their is no going back,so please read it FRONT TO BACK or take my advice and go with Barclays, they may be a few pence more expensive in their charges but the customer service is second to none. and they don't make you wait nearly a WEEK for your money. don't trust this man, do your research first.

Recently got these clowns to set me up merchant card services for the first of three shops that I am in the process of setting up. All zone-one retailing, high-footfall, discretionary spend-type shops (can't say the type of retail outlet as PS bought my silence by slipping me a bung and making sign a gagging clause). But just want any other SMEs considering using PS to Just. Don't. Do. It. Long boring story, but highlights were: 4.5 hours on the 'quick and easy' set up call; first appointment time and date for the salesman came and went - no show; (four days later) second appointment time and date for the salesman came and went - no show; (whole week later) third appointment time and date for the salesman came and went - no show/ Forth try he arrived. Salesman like the worse type of mobile phone shop inappropriately-familiar-scratch-the-surface-and-you'll-find-he's-full-off-rubbish piece of yuk you can imagine. I should have trusted my instincts then and there. Three day set-up? Two weeks into trading we were still clic-clacking on an old-fashioned credit-card imprint machine. Oh and when they finally got around to setting it up and did a couple of demo transactions for us, of course it worked....the first three times after they walked out the door. Then their stupid unit decided it was on strike and gave up the ghost. Clic-clacking again. Three days later, the brother of the mobile home shop guy poked his head in, took a look at what had been installed and told us that the unit had obviously been maliciously tampered with triggering all sorts of nasty terms in the lease agreement. One very nasty row later, and said payment unit in bits on street outside the shop, all connections severed, but decent cheque in hand. But can't let them win every time, can we?

I was looking for card machine company online and I found that the paymentsense were offering only £8.50 a month and i thought its a very good deal. And wanted join them by looking into their online advertisement. So I puted my phone number my business name and address for someone to contact me a few minutes time a guy called me he introduced himself as business development manager of paymentsense. so discussed more about the price and he assured me number of time there are no any other charge than a line rental of £9 a month and a commission on every card transaction which is 0.38% for any debt card and 0.98% for any other credit card. I asked him so many times to make sure that there are not any other service charge going to incurred or not. And every time he just simply said there is not any other hidden charges part from the commission on every transaction and the card machine line rental of £9 month and the contract length is only 18 months. So i believed what he said and agreed with his verbal communication. And he made it so quick like. He took all my details over the phone and filled up the application by himself and sent me the filled application just to sign electronically and sent it back to him. so I did the way he wanted me to do cause we were agreed the price over the telephone discussion. However, in few weeks time i have got a copy of contract form from FDMS and it says that the line rental for FDMS is £18.23 plus Vat. And the contract length is 60 months and also there is a another £5.95 per month for unlimited Till roll. Which he said it would be free of charge. When I saw this I could not control my anger and i phoned the gay right way to know why did he do this to me . now he just twist himself and saying that there is nothing to do with him i have to phoned to the customer service department to discussed about this. He denied everything and saying that the £9 a month line rental is would followed by a cash back offer after 4 moth you have joined which he never informed me at all. This is not the end of the story after few more weeks I have got an statement from FDMS which is another shocking. I have seen that there are three different Merchant ID has been opened and each of them charging me £12.95 a month which i am not aware at all and I have not been informed i have not had any sort of discussion over the phone about this Merchant ID charges and not been informed by that guy. So basically this guy put me in a contract and in different different charges without informed me. Today i Just looked at my online banking guess what i saw i saw there has been two monthly payments at the same date taken by paymentsese which is £89.66 and £84.58. so this is what they are doing to me they are taking my money . within two monthns time they took abour £354 from my account with four different direct debit.

This company is a joke. The sales rep is a complete liar. Left me with no terminal for days. The customer services put me on hold for hours and hours. I lOST SO MUCH MONEY !!! They then tried to say I was in a 48 months contract and didn't have a way of getting out I it. Stay away if you care about your buisness. I have reported this company to trading standards!!
written by lee86 on 08/09/2017
their rep sold them as a company to help you, we will give you value for money, no price increases, and if your not happy you can leave with no charges. what they dont quote you for is exspensive , if you have any issues then they dont care , had enough after 2 years of poor service and being overcharged, and complaints falling on death ears,on giving notice ive been givien a leaving bill of £938.00, dont trust them !!!

If I could give PaymentSense minus stars I would. Every single area of this "business" is an absolute sham. The sales person who spoke to me did not explain ANY of the various charges that would be applied to my account, in fact told me they would not take a single penny for the first six months and after that it would ONLY be the cost of the machine rental. He also did not inform me a third party "acquiring bank" would be taking payments from my account- First Data. There is a total lack of communication between the two parties resulting in many mistakes and frustrations for the customer. He also insisted I make the penny transaction over the phone immediately or I would lose my terminal- I never asked for my terminal to be sent to me next day as I haven't even begun trading yet. He also NEVER explained to me this was effectively beginning my contract- just that it was to test the machine was working properly. They've taken over £300 from my account when I haven't even switched the machine on since that phone call. Some of these are mistakes such as apparently believing I had two terminals when I only signed up for one. Some are charges which have legitimate reasons, none of which were explained over the phone. In fact, I had to go through the formal complaints system with them after several weeks of trying to correct basic information like name, email etc. Even after this formal complaint some departments still had incorrect information on my account. This is because the salesperson inputted the information without any care- and at every stage of trying to resolve this issue I was met with incompetency. Of course he took my bank details down correctly HA! During this formal complaints process the person assigned to my case, actually SOLD me a compliance service (£42) without mentioning my account would be charged. This is clearly a conflict of interests, if the complaints department is still trying to sell you services. So now I've been pursuing them for the past 3 months. It began with a grossly misleading sales pitch, has been filled with hours and hours of timewasting and hassle(including arguing with the specialist team who, have clearly specialised in telling you to eff off)and has ended with my crippled cash-flow. The idea they wish to help small businesses is a JOKE. If you have a similar situation with PaymentSense DO NOT GIVE UP! This is what they want. Keep records, communicate in writing, know your rights. If nothing comes of dealing with them, They report to the Financial Services Authority. I cannot recommend strongly enough NOT using PaymentSense. I've had to pay them several hundred pounds to NOT process a single transaction, get all the information on my account wrong AND to overcharge me. Disgusting businesses with disgusting practices.

I will expand fully below, but in summary they purposefully opened an account knowing that the way he was going to do it would mean the account would fail with acquirer FDMS... BUT made sure he got paid first by carrying out a test transaction before the account could be declined. This is either extremely amateur as a competent person would have got the account opened, or intentional because he is lazy and wanted a quick buck. We used to like this company as we already did business with them and had friends that work there, but my advice now is AVOID based on the deception or incompetence, neither of which is good. I contacted Paymentsense via the telephone and they answered the call. Initially very helpful and following up. I explained that an opportunity had presented itself and we needed an online payment gateway ASAP. I got the forms in good time and response to initial queries was good. THEN when we got to the test transaction stage, contact increased until we had done what we needed to do in order for him to be able to conduct "test transactions". For those unfamiliar, THIS IS WHAT HE HAS TO DO TO GET PAID. Then SILENCE...... Email followup... SILENCE.... We receive a letter through the post to our business stating, "account declined". We were confused as you need an account to carry out test transactions right?... WRONG. Confused I sent an email directly to them... SILENCE... Called his office and spoke to a colleague who would ask him to call us back... SILENCE Contacted Customer service who couldn't explain further on what was going on... and currently due to this amateur scenario... we are in limbo and with a declined account on our perfect record thanks to them. The cherry on top - We cant apply to the same acquirer for 6 MONTHS again... EVEN THOUGH WE ALREADY HAVE ANOTHER ACCOUNT WITH THEM!! Thanks Paymentsense

How and why these guys are aloud to trade is just beyond us. On our third account manager and one year later still being over charged again and again. The sale team lied all the way to the bank taking our cash with them. Anyone thinking about using PAYMENT SENSE then THINK THINK AND THINK AGAIN!!!!! Stay well away. Any one working for payment sense..... Well how you sleep at night or walk down the street. You should be ashamed.

I am very very disappointed in payment sense. Beware as they are not true to their word. Throwing in internet payments and telephone payment for free is a JOKE. The deals look good but certainly aren't. As a small NEW business we contacted payment sense to provide our terminal. Big mistake. Over 2 months we've taken less than £650 via the terminal and their fees taken via direct debit were in excess of that amount, putting us into financial difficulty. Unable to pay staff and necessary bills. The sales teams harass you to sign quickly to get the deals. Saying you just need to sign this etc. Sending reams & reams of contracts & T&Cs consequently unable to read and understand fully. The jargon is also difficult to understand. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY.

Be careful of payment sense, they sell in an underhanded way. Full merchant charges are not clearly laid out regardless of what they say. Make sure you fully read all the contract details before signing. Very poor sales practice

In 17 years of trading never have I been ripped off and blatantly lied to by an Area Manager coming into my shop selling me a merchant service - PaymentSense. I was quite happy with World Pay Merchant services but a sales rep from Payment Sense came into my store and told me I could save over £700 if I switched to them. She said she would go away and come back with the figure I would be saving and bring in the Area Manager with her. She came back with a piece of paper showing I could save over £760.52 a year with them. I asked the Area Manager several times that there were no more additional payments and it would be just the hire of the terminal and then the card rate charges. I was assured there were no other charges and that they would even deal with the switch of my two merchant accounts from World Pay. They then said they do the contract electronically and it all appeared on my computer at the shop while they were there and I was pointed where to click for my signature and stupidly did not read the contracts as they both appeared so trustworthy and I took their word that there were no additional charges as I had asked several times . One of them told me she came from a banking background. The long and short of it I was charged a £50 cancellation protection charge and 2 x switcher pack charges of £10 each. I am also charged an extra £25.70 a month in ongoing charges for the merchant accounts which I was NOT told about from the Area Manager when I asked about any other charges. Then also View My Local Charge of 2 x £24.95 a quarter for the last 2 years of the contract. This amounts to £308.40 a year extra payment. Years 2 and 3 there will be an extra £199.60 a year charges on top of the £308.40 a year totaling £508.00 a year in charges. As soon as my contract ends I will be terminating it as I have never dealt with such an unethical Company in all my 17 years of trading. Customer service do not want to know. I am just warning others who may get taken in by the sales patter of their Reps.

This company is simply dreadful. You have to deal with 3 different outfits to try to get any sense and even then it's hard. We have had nothing but terminal troubles since we made the mistake of joining them. You get locked into a long contract and have to use an appaling website to attempt to get infomation. STAY AWAY !!

The salespeople are on commission only and will tell you anything to get higher commissions. There are hidden charges and they don't care Some of them are prepared to say anything I would, recommend that anyone who needs merchant services should read ALL the small print snf don't sign anything until you have taken legal advice,

Giving this company 1 star is far too kind! They dupe you into thinking you are getting a good deal, free 7 month hire of the terminal, no hidden charges etc - all lies! The numerous charges coming out of our bank account is astonishing and whenever we attempt to call them and talk through our issues, we are met with ignorance and rude call takers. As for being able to contact our 'account manager' to discuss our issues - he was great before he signed us up - now nowhere to be seen! I would be very disappointed if any of my customers had the opinion of our company as we do with PaymentSense! The good reviews on here are very dubious! Please steer clear - learn from the mistakes of all the other poor reviews!

Please don't use this company, BDM will lie through his teeth, start new Direct Debits without your knowledge, before you know it several hundred pound is missing from your bank account and surprise surprise the BDM who harassed you for days or weeks on end can't help you as he no longer has access to your account, isn't that right Dur-n Gr-nt. You probably have less chance of losing money by investing in property in Aleppo, or buying BHS shares.

All 5-star reviews are false. I've had all the problems of everybody on here and more. I hope this message reaches other people before they get snared by them. Please, Please, Please stay away.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use this company. Sell you a cheap solution, then get stung with a huge bill of hidden charges on first payment. Make no mention of term of agreement, make no effort to help you for months after the complaint (support are either clueless or don't care one bit) Seriously - stick to a reputable firm like a main bank because they are just not worth the hassle.

The salesman miss sold me the package 4 years ago. I have got a file full of issues that I have had with them from extras on my statements to prices going up and up even though I have got literature that says fixed prices but no one wants to know and they say you can terminate your contract but the Terms & conditions that I didn't get until a month after signing say if I do I have to pay termination charges of £200 plus the rest of the 5 year card machine charges. Horrible company!!

Hi, we are a small business and have signed a 5 year contract with them when we verbally agreed an 18 month contract. Also we have been charged a lot of hidden fees which we were told nothing about. We would like to get out of this contract as it was completely mis-sold to us. If you can please give us any advice on how to go about this we would be very grateful. Thanks

Hi we are a small business and we have never even used their terminal as soon as we realised that they charges coming from our bank we realised that this was miss-sold to us, immediately we cancelled all direct debits, guessed we should have know something shady when the guy who was supposed to come and check we were a company and take photos asked us to instead take them and send to his mobile. Weve been battling with them ever since, even though on the phone they admitted it sounded like we had been miss-sold they now want us to pay 179 GBP to get out, I am tempted to pay just to end it but them on the other hand annoyed that they can get away with this, and want to see what they will do if we just tell them no. Any information of did you deal direct with company or did you hire a lawyer? Would be great, thank you.
