I have used the Watch Battery Fitting Company twice now to replace a battery in my Tag Heuer watch. They offer a well-priced service and it is very efficient - however, when I queried why condensation is building up under the screen after the second use, I received very defensive, rude emails and no realistic way of getting resolution without accepting unknown costs. Based on my first experience in August 2009, I was very happy - the battery didn't last as long (3 years) as the original or first replacement I had (5 years each), but the service was quick and relatively cheap (£18.95 plus the cost insured postage to the company). The price included re-sealing the watch to maintain its waterproof quality and this worked, so I felt comfortable using the company again in January 2013. When I received my watch back on the second occasion, it seemed okay until I noticed that condensation forms on the inside of the glass face when outside in cold weather - this had never happened during the previous 14 years. I queried this with the company for their opinion on whether it could be related to the battery fitting and whether they could fix it - the reply I received told me "you will have to send it back to the manufactures , to find out the prob" and "there is not much we can say. It may be a glass seal cracked". When I questioned whether the fault could have arisen during the battery fitting I received the blunt response "send it to us and we will have a look". Given that their first message stated that it would have to be sent back to the manufacturer, I asked for their thoughts on what might be wrong and the likely repair cost before paying the cost of insured postage to the company again. Their final response was unprofessional and, I thought, rude: "sorry cant go on with this ................either send it to us and we will have a look or not ...........................cant tell you anything without seeing it do not assume it is our fault without an assessment, our our offer is as said ............................return it to us or not" After this, I didn't feel I could trust the company with my watch, especially without knowing how much they would charge me for looking at it or any repairs. So now I have paid about £25 for a battery replacement that, in my opinion, has left me with a watch that is possibly no longer waterproof, but certainly in need of repair. I recommend finding a more trustworthy battery-fitter for any valued watch.
