Avoid this company

As this company knows where I live, for obvious reasons I shan’t give too much detail to identify myself - but I’m happy to stand in a court of law and repeat this.

Firstly - I’ll point out that  the owner of this company, has been the subject of Watchdog’s Rogue Traders (Google it). He’s been investigated by Trading Standards twice for taking money from people’s accounts without their permission and was made to sign an undertaking that if he did it again he’d receive a suspended prison sentence. This information was discovered after my experience.

He’s still at it.

He visited my property and gave me a quote for some work. There was a £25 call out charge and he asked for my credit card number over the phone to pay for it. I didn’t end up proceeding with the work, but a couple of days later I saw a number of fraudulent credit card purchases had been made on my card. A credit account for a retailer had also been set up in my name, along with purchases - which I only discovered as the retailer sent me a letter to confirm the account.

I called the retailer, who informed me the contact email address used on the account was GardenLine’s… I have other evidence, which I will withhold as to not hinder a police investigation.

By chance, a friend experienced credit card fraud some months later. When they told me, I shared I had been a victim of GardenLine. Coincidentally, they had instructed GardenLine too and the purchases on their card happened a day after giving their credit card details over the phone for the call out fee. They cancelled the job, but GardenLine still took the money for it later without permission.

The standard response from GardenLine for negative reviews left on public sites is to say “you’ve never been our customer” or “you’re being vindictive”, or simply accuse the reviewer of lying and claim they're abusive in communications, by way of trying to discredit the review.

I urge you not to ignore the countless other victims and his past Trading Standards investigations.
