Dear Baker Days Team Thank you very very very much for a lovely cake. I will admit I was nervous about ordering a cake online, especially as it was for Mum's birthday (65). But I read the reviews, saw the cost and thought, "why not - I've got nothing to lose and if it turns out bad, then mum will appreciate the thought anyway". Oh how I was to be pleasantly surprised. The cake arrived on Friday just as planned & looked even better than the web photos (watering can & lots of pink flowers & butterflies). Mum was delighted: even though the parcel was addressed to Dad, she made him open it! We have had the cake for Mum's birthday tea this evening (Saturday) and it was just delicious. I had chosen a plain & chocolate sponge mix and the cake was devine - that chocolate one especially so. All seven of us agreed, a lovely end to her birthday and everyone's been asking where the cake came from! So thank you for an easy ordering process, superb packaging & delivery and a lovely surprise for Mum on her birthday. Jules

Dear Kim & Everyone at Bakerdays, I am just writing to thank everyone concerned, for the beautiful cake, which I recently ordered online. As you know, it was for a very special occasion as it was for my dad's 80th birthday (23rd August 2013). Dad had been seriously ill since mid-December last year and we didn't think he would make it to his next birthday. His recovery (from 2 strokes, heart failure etc.) has been amazing. The cake actually made the day more amazing than he could have imagined. My brother travelled from Scotland to see him, along with one of his daughters so it was only a small affair. We went for a meal to Hassop Hall, near Bakewell (google it, it's very posh and totally gorgeous). The venue is the sort of place where you go to celebrate and as far as dad was concerned, that was the treat. He didn't want lots of presents or lots of fuss. He was just glad to be alive and with his remaining family members. We don't usually do parties and/or cakes, especially these days as we are all getting older but my word, this was the best surprise I ever planned and it could not have been more perfect. I searched a few websites, before coming across yours. I liked yours the best and decided to take the plunge. As I was unsure of what to order and a little nervous, I decided to ring you, rather than just order willy-nilly online. I am so glad I rang you. From the moment the conversation started, I felt at ease. I had no idea what design to do on the cake. I just knew I wanted something unique and personal to my dad, rather than a standard design. I listed a few of his hobbies: football, cricket, gardening, bowling and left it with you. The designer came back with a wonderful design of a cricketer (who I now believe to be called W.G. Grace or something similar).... but as I hate cricket myself, it was wasted on me and I politely declined the design. Even that was no bother to Kim, who was helping me, patiently on the phone. The designer didn't take offence either, to my relief. I did, however, love the background... footballs and cricket balls on a white background with light grey numbers....(I had also mentioned his former career as an accountant). I decided to keep the background and asked if I could put the slogans for my dad's favourite football team and another to represent cricket. Again, this was no problem anyone at Bakerdays and I was totally thrilled to be able to have so much input into the design and to receive such a professional, yet personal service. I even got a cake, which was half vanilla and half chocolate, with no jam in it! I will be honest, I thought at the time, that this would be two halves of a cake, with some grease-proof paper in between. One half chocolate and the other vanilla (with jam) but it was even better than that. It was 2 sponges basically. A vanilla one cut into 2 length-ways, with a chocolate sponge in between and some lovely chocolate butter icing, placed in between each layer. Totally yummy and scrumptious! Kim even went so far as printing out a lovely greetings cards, with my own words in it. By this time, I felt I could tell Kim my inner most thoughts and/or request anything! I asked for a couple of slogans on the cake and even got picky about the fonts etc.... Kim, you are a star. You're customer service is second to none, thank you. I was sent a 2nd picture of the cake, now that it had been redesigned and I loved it so then it was just a case of paying with my card and waiting for the cake to arrive! I was so excited all week. The only problem was I am staying at my dad's house so had to intercept the post, in order for my dad not to see it before his big day. As the courier was Interlink Express, I received notifications telling me that my parcel had been collected on the Wednesday (as promised) and then, the next day, they let me know what time to expect the delivery, within a one hour window. Hiding it from my dad was not even a problem as I knew when to expect it and sure enough, it came within the first half hour of the estimated hour quoted on the text message. The next morning, dad opened his presents and then in the evening, we went for the meal at the posh place.... At the end of the meal, we had coffee and then the waiter wheeled the cake out on a hostess trolley. It was sat regally on a massive, silver platter. It looked gorgeous. I had put 2 candles on it, spelling the number 80. Dad watched it being wheeled down the room but when the waiter stopped at our table, he actually told them they must have made a mistake and that they had got the wrong table. (Even though, it had the candles on it, saying 80!!) I had to get up out of my chair, look at the cake and tell him it was his. I told him it said Bolton Wanderers on it and so he said he'd better take a look at it then! I caught him sneakily reading the gift card - checking to see if it really, really was his cake! The next thing I knew he was telling the people at the next table that he had nearly died a few months earlier and they were taking photos for us and singing Happy Birthday to him! I can honestly say, the cake, (which, by the way, tasted gorgeous) actually made the day for him - and us! I heard dad on the phone, telling his friend, a few days after his birthday, that the cake had been a huge surprise. The way he was talking about it, it was definitely the highlight of his day and something he will never forget. For all these reasons, I just felt compelled to write and tell you from my heart, that you truly made an old man (and his family) very, very happy, with your wonderful service, gorgeous baking and fantastic design skills. Thank you so much. Oh, and before I forget. The icing on the cake was rather special too. I was so pleased it wasn't the usual sugar icing and seemed more of a fondant icing.... It was so yummy! (Sorry but I don't know the names of the different sorts of icing. All I know is this sort is lovely). Notice I am speaking about the cake in past tense. We ate it within a couple of days. Because I had bought quite a large one. (I think it was size Medium), we were able to share it with a few people who had helped with dad's recovery along the way. (Immediate neighbours etc.) It was the perfect way to say a little thank you. without causing any embarrassment. It was so nice to share and there was plenty to go around. It made everyone smile and everyone enjoyed it. Dad's 80th Birthday was totally awesome and perfect because of Bakerdays. That's the end of my gushing. A delicious and beautiful cake was provided for my daughter's adoption celebration day. I had been planning to make one myself and then I ran out of time so it definitely came to the rescue! I was a bit wary about a mail order cake but was very pleasantly surprised by how moist and tasty it was - as good as homemade! The decoration was perfect too and was certainly special enough for our special occasion. I would recommend them to anyone in need of an 'emergency' cake or any cake for a special event! We have a second celebration coming up for our second daughter and I will be happy (and relieved!) to use them again.

Amazing choice of cake designs. Ordered personalised medium butterfly one for my mum's 90t birthday. Packing brilliant. Cake looked fantastic and tasted really good too.

Thank you so much for the beautiful cake. The service and delivery were perfect. I was even supplied with a delivery time slot (very unusual) to assure there would be someone at home to receive the cake. I will certainly use this service again.
