I have subscribed to Findmypast for several years and was impressed by its simple and effective search system NO MORE. It has been "improved" into something that is frustrating, hard to use, cumbersome, time-consuming, complicated, and above all, for all intents and purposes useless and ineffective. As far as I am aware, there was no consultation about this with customers and no warning. I renewed my subscription just before this happened. Had it happened before I renewed, I never would have renewed and I certainly shan't ever renew again unless the changes are scrapped and we get back what I actually paid for - searches of the records I want to to search without having to go through endless filters to try and get there and that I can trust the results of. In my opinion, the integrity of Findmypast has been completely destroyed by this ill-conceived changes.

FMP - HAS GONE FROM BEING A MUCH LOVED GENEALOGY USER FRIENDLY SITE TO OBLIVION WITHIN DAYS.

IT IS OBVIOUS TO ALL THAT THE NEW DATA PLATFORM IS A DISASTER AND UNFIT FOR PUPOSE..

IT CAN'T HAVE BEEN TESTED ADEQUATELY PRIOR TO IT BEING INFLICTED UPON US ALL

AND THE IRONY IS THAT FMP WANT THE SUBSCRIBERS TO ADVISE OF GLITCHES AND ISSUES AND ALSO TELL THEM WHAT TO PUT BACK THAT THEY STUPIDLY REMOVED.,YOU COULDN'T MAKE IT UP.

TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY - HIGHLY CRITICAL POSTS ARE DELETED WITHIN MINUTES FROM FMP FACEBOOK PAGE ,AND THE PERSON WHO POSTS IT BLOCKED FROM FURTHER COMMENTS.

THE DEMAND FOR REFUNDS ARE IGNORED AND THE OFFER IS THEN 2 MONTHS ADDITIONAL SUBSCRIPTION FREE,SO THE AGONY GOES ON.

FMP - ARE IN A POSITION WHERE THEY HAVE ALIENATED THEIR SUBSCRIBERS AND THIS WILL COST THEM DEARLY.

IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT GENEALOGY AVOID FMP - FOR THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE.

I find this site near to absolutely useless. Most of the time when I do find a relevant piece of family information they ask me to pay more. Total waste of my money joining find my past should be renamed 'grabmymoney.'

I have been using FMP for more years than I can remember, before it was FMP! What I like is that you can pay 'per view' or by 'subscription', so if you just want to test the water you don't have to dive in with a full 'subscription'. When I first started out I kept searching the same records, but then I found the section on 'my searches' and it has been a great help, plus you can print it out so you can see where you have been and what next to search. The hints are also helpful, if you spend the time to read them - if like me you are too eager to get searching, but they are worth a read. I would certainly recommend this site for those interested in genealogy or family history.
