The markup on the cheap imported cr*p they sell is ridiculous.
Their not competitively priced to start with compared to other similar retailers.

I've bought products from Maplin previously, and had to return on several occasions due to complete failure or quality. Also, on a few occasions i've had the suspicion that the goods were previously used - scratches, fingerprints, batteries already in remote controls etc.

I've submitted negative reviews on Maplin web site, and they were sent for 'review by staff before publishing'. Surprisingly, they never appeared on their site. Occasionally they will let a bad review through so as not to appear biased.

I have no issues with their staff who are generally helpful and have even on some occasions advised me not to buy certain products due to quality and the number of returns they've had.
