Poor Barrel Quality

I purchased a barrel and was exited until it arrived . The laser work on my name was very shallow and light . I filled it with water and waited for it to seal properly . I then put my Jack Daniels in the barrel and it basically absorbed most of the jack even after I sealed properly , pretty soon it had absorbed a whole bottle . The spike and plug are of poor quality as is the barrel . Not happy at all and do not recommend Barrelsonline.com unless your looking for a coin bank and even then the barrel gets dried out and falls apart .

Can't Be Much Worse.

Ok. Here is the situation.

I ordered and paid for a barrel. It arrived, I was excited. I filled it with water, sealed it. That took several days which I figured was normal. I emptied it, and used it as intended. After a very short while, one of the staves cracked. Now the barrel leaks.

I notified them by email, It took an amazingly long time to get responses to my emails. After some time they replaced the barrel. I was happy. I really appreciated the replacement.

I filled the replacement with water to begin the sealing process. Within hours, one of the staves split. Worse than the first barrel.

So...

I paid for, and want, one working quality barrel, but both barrels have failed. Response times have been slow and disappointing. I offered to return both barrels if they would send me shipping boxes and shipping labels. I want them to send me my money back, or send me a non-faulty barrel. I am not asking for anything unreasonable. I'm a nice guy. I do, however think I paid for a usable barrel, and I think I am owed either my money back, or a usable barrel. I am no longer getting a response.

Worst Customer Service Ever!!

Placed an order for a 5 liter barrel - finally arrived and when I opened the box found that it was missing the spigot and bung stopper for fill port. Notified them immediately and was told to check the package for a small bag taped to the stand. I informed the I did and they were not shipped. 3 days later after email each day trying to get a tracking # for my missing items, I finally get a response from them telling me they reviewed my order and agree they did not ship the missing items with the barrel and they will ship them today! So 1st they accuse the customer of lying, 2nd their mistake they should make up for it by expediting that missing items ASAP next day delivery for sure. Now still have not received the missing items and can't get ahold of them.

Home Brewer Here. Faulty Barrel!

Let me start by saying that I am an avid home brewer of nearly 10 years with 100+ batches under my belt, most brewed on my home-built HERMS system. The barrel I received was faulty. Unfortunately, I began to soak/swell my barrel after the 30 day time frame for returns expired. I did not have a batch ready at the time, so I did not want to prep the barrel until I was ready to rack beer to it. I ended up soaking the barrel for 12 days and it still wouldn't seal. I actually had to pour melted beeswax into the barrel to attempt to seal it. That helped, but did not cure the issue. I would definitely NOT recommend this company if you plan to actually use the barrel for liquid. I think I'll make a lamp out of mine...

What Gets Put In A Barrel Should Stay In A Barrel

My daughters purchased a 5 liter barrel from this company for me as a Christmas gift. Since December, I have been doing everything according to the manufacturer's procedures to establish a seal of the barrel. Initially, it leaked like a sieve but I just thought it was part of the process. I have continued to work on getting the barrel to seal including applying several generous coats of beeswax to the exterior. Nonetheless, the barrel still leaks. Last week I resigned myself to the fact that I had a faulty barrel and contacted the 'Barrelsonline Team' to ask for a replacement or refund. I was asked by the person I dealt with to provide photos as proof of the leaks which I promptly provided. In response, I received the following message:

"We found an order through Etsy not sure if it is correct but it shows the barrel as delivered on Dec 2, 2014.

Unfortunately if this is the order it was delivered over 3 months ago. If a barrel is left to dry without water for more than a month it will start to dry and shrink causing on some cases leaks that can no longer be sealed.

For this reason our warranty covers 30 days after delivery and not longer."

My response was to explain that I had been attempting to seal the barrel since December and at no time had the barrel been left empty for any length of time. I wanted to exhaust all possible corrective solutions prior to asking for a replacement or refund. Big mistake on my part! I asked that they reconsider their assumption that the barrel was left to dry out and work with me to resolve the issue.

Since I sent my response to her, I have heard absolutely nothing. I believe she and the entire 'Barrelsonline Team' have washed their hands of the entire issue and have moved onto their next victim. As others have written... "BUYER BEWARE" with this company.

As for me, I am a very disappointed and dissatisfied customer. Based on some of the other reviews, it appears that I am not alone. I plan to order another barrel through "Bluegrass Barrels" and hope to have a much more positive experience. What choice do I have but to purchase something elsewhere... after all, Barrelsonline "Had me over a barrel."

All six of my barrels' hoops have slipped off completely, leaving me with a large pile of unusable junk. The worst piece of junk I've ever seen.

Horrible product. Even worse service.

Avoid at all costs!!

Purchased two barrels for Christmas gifts. I don't know if the barrels leak, we haven't tested that part. However, the personalization on both barrels was of very poor quality. Even though I viewed and approved the proofs, the barrels themselves are illegible. I contacted to company was told that the online disclaimer about personalization said this could happen. The online disclaimer was only about the coloring (light or dark). I think it is crazy that the company hides behind this disclaimer when the wording on the barrels isn't even legible. Barrels are of such poor quality, I cannot give as gifts. I was very disappointed, we had planned on purchasing additional for other family members for St. Patrick's Day.

Very Happy With My Purchase!

Needed two barrels for school project and needed them fast. I ordered two 3 liter barrels with no special shipping request, this was late Tuesday night. Early next morning decided to change order to 5 liter barrels and requested overnight shipment. Changes were made through email requests. Customer service was prompt and courteous. I was furnished with tracking numbers which helped correct a glitch in shipping. My package arrived on Friday just after noon. (Shipped from West coast to East coast.) The barrels are perfect! Good quality! Love them and happy with the customer service! Did not give 5 stars because I was not able to talk by phone to anyone. But my emails were answered promptly.
