Seems like sharp practice!

Took grandson too Huddersfield premises with a view to buying him a laptop for school use. Some items on display were marked as refurbished and some were not - so I naturally assumed that the ones not saying refurbished were new items. Looked at a lot of refurbished ones but he liked a well-priced HP laptop which was not marked as refurbished (assumed it to be brand new, therefore). After a very long wait to be served I indicated my wish to buy the HP Pavilion aw054sa machine priced at £309. After a check to confirm that in stock the salesman took me to the payment till. Only then did he mention that the laptop was refurbished and had only a 3 months guarantee. I was about to abort the sale and walk out of the premises in disgust at this treatement, when my grandson implored me to buy it as he liked it very much. Asked the salesman if he'd give me 12 months guarantee free of charge, but he could only offer this for a further £30. Managed to barter him down to £20 additional charge for 12 months guarantee and reluctantly agreed to buy it on that basis, purely to placate my grandson.
Expressed the opinion that firm guilty at very least of sharp practice in not correctly describing the displayed goods and said I would complain. Not salesman's fault but his company to blame.
