“Review of www.motolegends.com - Dishonest and Sleazy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RobLim on 06/11/2013

**Buyer Beware - Avoid motolegends if you Value Honesty** I am incredibly disappointed and disheartened with Motolegends as a business, which wrongly proclaims to be a business of the highest standards of ethics and service. On the contrary, Motolegends is like many dishonest and corrupt businesses today that proudly proclaim their admirable values, only to prove otherwise in their actions. I recently contacted Motolegends to request a price match, which is prominently advertised throughout the online store. 10 days later, I finally received an email notifying me that my request was rejected per the terms and conditions: "The result is that this price match request is not valid as we can only price match overseas for UK residents as stated in our terms and conditions which you can read in full athttp://www.motolegends.com/Info/price-beat.html" I am in fact very detail oriented and read the terms and conditions in full before submitting my request - I would not have submitted my request if I knew I were ineligible. It appears that Motolegends amended their terms and conditions for the specific purpose of invalidating my request, which explains why it took so long for them to respond. Thankfully, I'm no fool, and Google caches pages. At the time of my request, Term 6 of Motolegends price match program read: "Whilst we will only beat the pound Sterling prices of a UK based retailer, we are happy to send price matched goods to an overseas address, provided that the items in question can legally be supplied to that country and provided that overseas sales are not specifically precluded on our website. All overseas orders will be subject to our standard international despatch charges.” (See annotated screenshot here: bit.ly/Hz8SI0 - depending on your browser, you might have to click to enlarge photo) To my surprise, brought to my attention by the kind customer service associate, the site now reads: "Our price beat guarantee is not valid for customers living outside of the UK Mainland.” (How convenient, as I am a United States resident...) (See annotated screenshot here: bit.ly/17a9sYm - depending on your browser, you might have to click to enlarge photo) I find this behavior extremely disheartening and dishonest. I understand that Motolegends is a business and as such, must protect its interests. If my request prompted a reconsideration of the Price-Beat terms and conditions and it was determined to be too lenient and in need of amendment, this would be perfectly warranted and acceptable. But to communicate a promise to your customers only to renege (secretly) on a case-by-case basis when the fulfillment of a promise is not financially expedient (a blatant misrepresentation and false advertising) - this is deceitful and corrupt. An honest business with high ethical standards - the business that Motolegends wrongly claims to be - would honor its promise then amend the terms and conditions to prevent future loss. I have family and many friends who reside in the UK - if I were to ask that a friend or relative submit the same Price-Beat request on my behalf, what then? Would Motolegends find another strategy or amendment to invalidate the request? Apparently, I am not alone. Another consumer on www.reviewcentre.com recorded a strongly familiar complaint (http://www.reviewcentre.com/Online-Clothing-and-Accessory-Shops/Motolegends-www-motolegends-com-review_2215420): "Motolegends are not to be trusted, have tried 3 times to buy under their offer of 10% off if the products can be bought else where at a cheaper price. It has never happened.. there is always an excuse ie, the other seller isn't a proper dealer, printing error in the catalogue , typo on the website neither which gets altered when they are informed of these errors." You be the judge. If you value honest businesses, there are far more businesses out there who can do much better. I Motolegends chooses to address the above, I will update this review. ======== Further documentation: --------Initial Email Request Sent to Motolegends on 26 Oct. 2013-------- Hi there, I’m interested in getting a price match for the below item. Motolegends are not to be trusted, have tried 3 times to buy under their offer of 10% off if the products can be bought else where at a cheaper price. It has never happened.. there is always an excuse ie, the other seller isn't a proper dealer, printing error in the catalogue , typo on the website neither which gets altered when they are informed of these errors. The least they could do was to offer the garments we wanted at the price they quote on their website or catalogue. At the very least give the 10% off the order and thank us for informing them of the pricing errors I think this is a job for Trading Standards because they never honour their prices or seem to have respect for the customers

Motolegends's Response to bikerchick13's Review

Written on: 11/10/2013

I am responding to the entry from bikerchick13 that has recently been brought to my attention.
I run Motolegends and was disappointed to hear about this particular experience, of which I was completely unaware.
What I would say is that there are some terms and conditions that need to be accepted if somebody wants us to beat another company’s pricing by 10%.
These we try to make very clear, but the principles are quite simple and straightforward.
First, we will only beat a price if it represents a discount on the RRP. This we define as a price that is £5.00 less than our price, as we always market our gear at the official recommended prices.
The second major term or condition is that we will only beat the price of an official stocklist for the item or range in question. So we won’t beat the price of somebody selling gear that has fallen off the back of a lorry, operating a business from their back bedroom. In other words, the competing seller must be in a position to offer the same manufacturer’s warranty and service back-up as us. If this isn’t the case, we’re not really selling the same “product”, in our view.
Finally, we will not beat the prices of overseas companies. Again, these companies won’t be able to offer the same warranty as us, and prices in other markets may vary in accordance with currency exchange rates which, of course, we cannot control. We will, though, always match any overseas price.
Quite simply, our guarantee has been designed to allow us to take business away from official retailers of motorcycle clothing who decide to discount products to gain a competitive advantage.
If any UK company does this, our aim is to beat them at their own game.
If bikerchick13 is confused, or wishes to contact me directly at Motolegends to discuss her disappointment, I would be happy to talk with her.
We are not weasels. We do not make excuses. We stand by our guarantee even if that means, as it often does, that we actually lose money on a sale.
It is, I believe, our commitment on this that results in several dozen successful “price-beats” every single week of the year.

Roblim's Response to bikerchick13's Review

I concur completely with your sentiments. Motolegends.com is dishonest and corrupt. I recently submitted a Price Beat request and they had the nerve to change their Terms and Conditions represented on their website - the amendment of course invalidated my initial request.

Luckily, Google and Bing saves caches of pages and I was able to take screenshots of the cached page with the original Terms and Conditions that were represented to me at the time of my request.

I have submitted my thorough review with documentation to reviewcentre.com and am awaiting their moderation.

My husband and I have spoken to many other bikers and we all come to the same conclusion about MOTOLEGENDS. After dealing with them on the telephone and their obvious lies excuses contempt and disrespect for their customers The best thing we can all do is to vote with our feet.
I take my helmet off to you for taking these people on and I hope you win

“Motolegends Online Motorcycle Clothing Store”

★★★★★

written by m00ts on 16/03/2013

First off I would like to say just how happy I am with the service provided by motolegends. I discovered the website while looking for a new helmet for my motorbike. The helmet in question was a Shark S700S which, from having a quick look online, discovered that everywhere seemed to be selling it for the same price (£149.99). After looking a little further on Google, I discovered motolegends which displays a large banner at the top of their homepage stating that they will beat competitors prices by 10% (email application). After a further read of the terms and conditions, I read that for this to be valid, you must find the same product on a competitors website for more than £5 less than on their website. I managed to find the helmet on another website for 144.99, exactly £5 less than on theirs. I decided to send them the email anyway which stated the website where I found the cheaper product and the price found. The next day I got an email from motolegends telling me that I was eligible for 10% discount. The email contained a discount voucher which worked perfectly. However I hit a snag after selection to pay via paypal caused the web page to refresh, losing my discount. After attempting to re-apply the update, the website informed me that it had already been applied and could not be used again. I then decided to send an email to the customer service centre who were fast to respond and very helpful. They promptly set up and order for me and emailed a paypal invoice. I paid and the helmet was despatched the following day using city link next day delivery. They also offer a free returns policy for 14 days if you are not happy with the product or it doesn't fit etc. so another bonus! Overall I was extremely happy with the website and the customer service that was offered. I would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend and will definitely be using their service again.

BIKERCHICK13 IN REPLY TO MOTOLEGENDS

I was surprised to read you weren't aware of my problems especially when I had to ring Motolegends twice, as a promised call from you didn't materialise. The person I spoke to claimed they were the top man, sounds like Motolegends is a case of too many chiefs and not enough indians?

Secondly, My husband and I have been riding bikes and buying bike gear for 80 years between us and are now quite experienced when dealing with dodgy people and businesses. At the time of the first phone call I gave Motolegends a prime example of another genuine company selling the exact item at a lower price. You said that you were going to check it out and get back to me which again, you never did. So I can assume I was correct and you didn't want to honour your offer. So I rang back and asked to speak to the manager. If you claim it is the first you know of this then whoever I spoke to was making out he was management when he was not.

That phone call turned out to be a joke. I asked if one of the suits was as waterproof as Gortex and I was told that Gortex wasn't 100% waterproof, to which I replied I thought it was and that it carried a 100% waterproof guaurantee, to which Motolegends replies "so if you jumped into the river you would come out totally dry " now that was just plain stupid and not exactly what an educated, intelligent person would say. Is it any wonder Motolegends was a standing joke when we asked if anyone had actually got a 10% discount at the ACE Cafe.
