Alibris doesn't tell you clearly before you place your order, that because of the way they ship, you cannot cancel your order. Under the Consumer Protection Distance Selling Regulations 2000, this is not even legal, as a company is not allowed to try and restrict your right to cancel, even 7 days after you've received it. The post-order confirmation you receive says (misleadingly) that "Refunds for any cancelled items will be issued to the same credit card." But right underneath that is a Q+A which says you can't actually cancel your order!
In addition, before I placed my order, I was advised it would arrive in 3-14 days, but after, I was told up to 45 days, and it might attract customs fees. After I asked about returns, I was told about a 15% restocking fee which was news as well. Upshot: it will cost me more to send this book airmail back to the US than the £47 I paid for it!

Hello Sarah, My apologies that we weren't able to stop this shipment. Your order was already in transit to you when the cancelation request was received. We have provided a UK address for the return of this item and issued a full refund. Please feel free to reply to my email if you have additional questions. Thanks!
