Cbr 900 Rrx Fireblade Blue, White And Gold 1999 Model

I bought my Rrx brand new on sept 99, it's the best money I have ever spent, bought at the time when Honda lowered prices due to all the grey imports paid £6850 brand new from cusworth bikes at Doncaster. Excellent bike fantastic power delivery (compared to the gsxr 750l I owned previously) handles great. Still own this bike it has 3750 miles on it still looks fantastic and turns heads wherever I take it. My mate owns a cbr 600rr on an 05 plate fuel injected model and considering the 6 year gap in technology my old standard fireblade wipes the floor with it. Anybody thinking of buying one of these bikes should stop thinking and get buying as you won't regret it. Considering buying a cbr1000 rr7 or rr9 at the moment but rest assured that even if I buy one there will always be a space in my garage for my Rrx.

I Have The 1998 Rrw Which Is The Same Except For T

I have the 1998 RRW which is the same except for the paint schemes. It is indeed an excellent motorcycle. Fast, smooth, excellent handling, reliable, cheap to run - it's nigh on perfect! There are a few well-documented issues but all are easy to fix:

- reg/rec - failures are fairly common, but it's simple to replace and fairly cheap - the replacements have better cooling fins.

- cam chain tensioner - known to fail, but again pretty cheap and easy to replace.

- Clutch rattle - a common Honda characteristic. Replacing the clutch basket will cure it temporarily, but it will probably return. It does no harm to ignore it.

My bike is coming up to 40,000 miles and just gets better and better. The 16" front wheel causes me no handling issues, and there are enough tyres available not to be concerned with it.

An amazing bike, I have no plans to replace it for a long time.

I personally loved every minute of my 8 years with the RR-W. It really is a top quality bike. It'll tour Europe, race to Devil's Bridge and totter to the shops. Utterly perfect!

The Blade Rrx Is An Amazing Peace Of Machinery,i'v

the blade rrx is an amazing peace of machinery,i've had 6 blades all together the newest being on a 08 plate and with in a 3 months of owning the bike it was sold and i was back on the 1999 rrx model,it all started for me in 1994 on the famous urbun tiger which was hell of bike and for that time a world class superbike untouchable to the rest of the motorcycle challengers and the rrx is not that much different, alot lighter i feel than the earler models, and still in a class of its own, much better than the r1 infact, yes ok you have extra bhp but not the comfort or the fact that you can feel that your on big growling beast capable of ripping yr eyes out there sockets while in the twistys the rrx can feel very tame until you unleash the beast out of the next bend.all in all you can pick these babys for £1500 with 16000 miles on the clocks and i know because i've just got my mate one and he's well impressed,he went from a gsxr750cc-cbr900rrx and said its alot easier to ride and more comfortable.i would recommend these bikes to anyone,

I agree completely, brilliant bike last of the 16" inchers and carbs. Fast, light, comfortable. Eeasy to work on for a reasonably competent home mechanic. Even has a rear compartment to keep your pies in!!

The Hondafireblade Cbr 900 Rrx Is A True Classic I

The Hondafireblade CBR 900 RRX is a true classic in the making! As the very last model to carry the non-injection flag you could be mistaken for thinking that a bike manufactured in 1999 would be a slow old animal with no manners and no real appeal......yet you couldnt be further from the truth! The 1999 Blade is still one hell of a motorbike and I can not say enough good things about it! Physically a much larger bike than the blades of today, the RRX offers great sporting bike character and speed with a more relaxed and spacious riding position compared to newer blades. Thats not saying that the RRX blade is a touring bike, more it is less likely to cripple you with in 15 miles that newer models. Power is enough for anyone other than professional racers or professional racer wanabeess!!! I Bought My Honda Cbr900rrx (1999 Model) In Decemb

I bought my honda cbr900rrx (1999 model) in December 1998, it became available a couple of months early due to Honda changing very little to it from the 1998 model. As far as I know the only changes were colour schemes and a different spring rate on the rear shock.

The first thing I noticed was how light it felt, and I remarked at the first set of traffic lights we stopped at that it felt like a ridiculously powerful 250cc bike not a 918cc bike.

Despite what others may have said about the long stretch around the tank to reach the 'bars, I find the postion of 'bars to seat to be perfect, and I'm only about 5'7".

The performance is really quite stunning and I cannot see the point of considerably more power than this bike has. Though like most people I could'nt help myself from making a few minor modifications (K&N air filter, Dynojet kit & Race Can) releasing 124.5 bhp at the rear wheel and smoothing out the power curve in the process.

It has been used for fairly long rides (250-300 miles in a day) and short blasts around the local twisties, and has proven to be excellent at everything I have thrown at it.

Nothing has gone wrong with it in the 5+ years that I have owned it, and the 23000 miles that it has done. That is of course except for the time I dropped it while getting my knee down, but then I can't blame the bike for that.

In short, I would highly recommend a 1998 or 1999 model CBR900 to anyone looking for high performance thrills in a comfortable package at a reasonable price.

Have Had A Fireblade 18 Months Now,dont Know What

Have had a fireblade 18 months now, dont know what on earth made me buy it.

I'm 5ft 6 tall with a short upper, found myself stuck to the top of the tank mostly. Well had to do something about that, so I thought I would slightly street fighter it, bit of a waste really seing that it is immaculate. Took the fairing off added some drill on bar holders, twin headlights etc.

Much better now the only other thing I had to contend with was my butt slipping to the rear on hard acceleration or trying to wheelie,(in a safe enviroment),so I made a bit of a seat extension to the back pad, roughly 3 inches and now its a perfect fit.

Had 170 from it,what the hell are they made for.

Absolutely diabolicle for riding around town, sedately, probably due to my build and height.

Most every thing not protected by the elements are starting to corrode, why they dont use stainless steel for things like fasteners I dont know. Think I got a bit ripped off as 4 months later I found that the right hand brake disc was bent, probably due to someone forgetting to un-hitch a disc lock. Went to honda they said £250 + vat,I said "dont bother!". I got one for £165 eventually inc vat from a nice bloke called Dave. Genuine honda. As the bike has only done 6500 miles it does not notice.
