I Own A -06 Ducati 999 And Theres No Bike That Han

I own a -06 Ducati 999 and theres no bike that handles the way this bike does. With this bike you turn heads and get thumbs up all the time. This is a bike you love to ride on the track.

There has been none reliability issues. Guess they fixed them to the -05 model. So if you're about to buy 999, buy -05 or -06 model.

I Bought My Ducati 999r 2003 Off Ebay At An Afford

I bought my Ducati 999r 2003 off ebay at an affordable price, the first owner took the lions share of the depreciation and only did 2,800 miles! Ive had it since december 2007, (6 months) and doubled the mileage! What is it with these Ducati owners, they never ride 'em. I am addicted to it. I also have a 748 which I now use for track days.I agree with one of the other reviewers than when you put the 748/916 and 999 together the 748 looks very dated by comparison. The 999 just feels nicer lighter and more agile when abord its narrow frame. Its like riding a push bike with 140bhp! Fantastic. The low down grunt is wicked, it pulls from nothing getting stronger and stronger all the way up to top speed what-ever that is . Apparently the speedo goes off at 174 and you just get 3 dashes - - - Some one told me that happened and they werent even in top gear! So its got to be 180++ at least. I do think the gearing is a little tall for the road, though I guess its pretty easy to swap the cogs for even better accelleration. Also I think a fatter spark wouldnt go amiss. I have had a few starting issues where it refused to start in sub zero conditions or who can blame it. Also, recently it has been misfiring badly, I cleaned the plugs and those funny stick coil things and it has done the trick, but it looks like that could be a weak point. The only other issue is the noise , they sound crap, i think, on tick over and revving in nuetral, but when its pulling at 6000 revs its sounds like a raving banshee! The devil incarnate, or at least I think it probably does, when your on it you dont really hear it do you, so the main benefit there is for spectators!

Joking aside, I am absolutely thrillied with my 999r I will keep it forever and run it and run it , hopefully it will be the highest mileage 999 in really nice condition possible. Thats the plan anyway. cheers, Happy biking!

If You Can Afford A Ducati 999 ....do It. I Just L

If you can afford a Ducati 999 ....do it. I just love the fact that out of every 500-10000 bikes I see are not like mine. It's quirky, it's beautiful, it's an anomaly, and of course it's Italian!

Biking Since I Was 12 And Ridden/owned Most Option

Biking since I was 12 and ridden/owned most options including Triumph 955 (disaster). Only previous twin was Aprilia Mille which was ok but not in the same league as the Ducati 999. I change bikes at least once a year but having owned my 999 since March 05 have no desire for anything else. Awesome and full of character, a much better road bike than most would believe and a lot more fun than the Jap fours. Comfort is as good as anything Superbike wise. I know the 999 has come in for more than a little criticism for it's design and I also know that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' but what planet are these people on who knock a design like this. For Christs sake, we know the 916 was special and iconic but the 999 has moved the game on in so many ways. Just put the 2 bikes side by side and see how dated the 916 looks.

And no, I don't work for Ducati?

When I First Got My Bike Licence I Thought Japanes

When I first got my bike licence I thought Japanese bikes were the be all and end all. That's until I rode a friends Ducati... Trust me, Japanese bikes are good, but they have nothing on the Italians. They don't have nearly half the character and street credibility, and that throaty V-Twin sound... WOW! Although his Ducati 900SS was nowhere near as fast as my GSX-R1000, I would have happily traded it in for a Ducati. So I did and bought the 2005 999. It's probably the best thing I ever did. I don't think I could ever go back to another Japanese superbike. The 999 could easily out handle them. Just throw it into a corner and accelerate out, and it does it much faster than my old GSX-R1000 ever could. Even R1 riders were having a hard time keeping up with me through twisty roads. That's where all the fun is. Going ultra fast on a long straight road gets boring too quickly.

A lot of my friends thought I wasted my money until they took her for a spin. It's just a shame they can't afford one just yet... but they are saving their pennies.

I found this review helpful because...I've just bought 06 one and it sounds like I've made the right decision.

Review For Ducati 999 This Is The Fourth Duca

Review for Ducati 999

This is the fourth Ducati I've owned, and to be honest, it's a pile of doggy doo doos.

If you have the money then don't spend it on an 03 999. There are a lot of reliability issues with this bike - plug packs failing (coils), fuel pump, flaking paint, and on a few - cracked fairings.

About the best thing about owning the Duke is the warranty. If the bikes out of warranty don't touch it with a bargepole.

Touch wood ( and I am ) I've had mine 2 years and apart from the indicators falling apart (made in Austria) I still love mine.

Just thought I'd add after review comment,

I bought the bike from new and from day one (yes, on the very same day I rode it away from the shop) the engine management light came on. This should have warned me it was gonna be bad.

To date (and I now no longer have the bike):

plug packs - 4

ecu - 1

right side fairing - 1

headlamp assembly - 1

complete fuel system - 1

satisfied customer - 0

A little tip, if you buy a Ducati from new in the UK - make sure you have the e-mail address of all of the Ducati UK directors, customer service managers, and just about anyone in their headquarters. Then when your bike goes pop for the third or fourth time - hit each of the contacts with an e-mail a day, and then throw a couple of mails over to Bologna for good measure. The sooner Ducati UK realise that they have to actually do something in customer service department to earn the respect of their customers, the better.

I've got a friend who has similar problems as you do. But in his case he treats his Ducati like **** and doesn't look after it properly. If you bought it second hand then it's probably likely that the previous owner/s never looked after it. You must think fairly highly of Ducati's if it's your forth one. Maybe it's just a lemon.

The Ducati 999 Is The Best Bike I've Owned Having

The Ducati 999 is the best bike I've owned having had all sorts before. This Sports bike has unbeatable character and sound from tergi and engine desmos. Handling was vastly improved by changing rear tyre to 180 down from 190 (same as 749).

There's nothing that comes close to the character of a ducati twin - just owning one is great.

There are faster bikes but few as satisfying to be on at the speed limit. People who own inline fours don't know what character is...
