Xc 60 Purchase 2014 !!! I Bought Two !!!
After several weeks of trailing auto trader for the right car, with no luck, we decided to take a trip to Ravenscroft. It opened our eyes to the full range they had available. We dealt with an adviser who explained the range to us in detail. Although we had not intended to purchase on the day, the sales pitch/banter was very relaxed with no pressure. We did try to haggle over the price which in fairness was lower than market value at the time. He explained that they check there prices constantly. No discount was given. We did buy on the day and where very happy with our XC 60.Unfortunally our XC60 was written off 4 weeks after our purchase. I contacted him to explain our situation, he was very helpful and wrote to our insurance company to help with the low offer they had made. They increased there offer by £1500. happy days !! So we returned to purchase another. Again very happy. Hopefully this one will last longer than the last one!
Extremely Helpful And A Pleasure To Deal With
In returning to view their xc60's for the third time and second time to test drive, we had short listed one of Ravenscroft Volvo's as a potential to buy and sought out some customer reviews. In doing some last minute research I was surprised to find a number of negative reviews in this review centre, as our experience of two of the staff has been really positive. The pricing policy of discounting vehicles if they didn't sell rather than haggling was explained, as was the £199 administration fee which is also on the home page of the web site. The details on the administration fee and all other costs for extras where displayed inside every vehicle we reviewed, either placed on the passenger or rear seat, so plain to see. The sales guys were helpful, not at all pushy, and very knowledgeable in the vehicles, and offering advice on selling our existing car privately to realise more than they could offer on a trade in. Whilst the vehicle we ideally wanted was a year younger, we decided to test the water to see if a deal could be done to reduce the price a little to take account of some minor deficiencies. Whilst they weren't prepared to reduce the price, they were prepared to address a couple of the issues and source an extra key at a much lower price than Volvo. Whilst we then viewed a newer vehicle at another dealer, and purchased that, we would have no hesitation in returning to Ravenscroft Volvo in the future or recommending them to others. Prices are competitive, vehicles are good quality and well presented, and the staff a credit to the independent used car industry.

No Frills Sales!
To be honest after reading some of the reviews I was slightly reticent about going to Ravenscroft volvo. However after speaking to one of the guys on the phone I felt more reassured. We purchased a Volvo XC 90 which we saw on Autotrader and were happy with the service. It's not at all pushy sales and if you go realising that there cars are fixed price and there is an administration fee I don't think you will be disappointed. We found them
to be honest and straightforward- as I say no frills or fancy coffee but we just wanted was to buy a good quality car. Thankfully ours had two keys and mats were given to us when we collected the car. We also felt we got a very fair price on our trade in!
Going back to the admin fee this is to cover HPI checks and a six month warranty. We were assured that if there was a problem our local garage could fix it and they will deal with the warranty company direct. Obviously haven't tested this hypothesis yet !
We are really pleased with our Volvo and would recommend Ravenscroft!
Like most of the other positive reviews, looks like coming from the same source
No Chance I Would Ever Go Back
We purchased a Ford S-Max from Ravenscroft from the owner.
On taking delivery there was only one key, a lack of manuals and a missing boot cover. Within two weeks we also had to replace a dead battery and discovered the air conditioning wasn't working so I don't trust their servicing.
The owner refused to talk to us and therefore we dealt with another person feeling that we were a part of a lousy good cop/bad cop routine.
The missing manuals and boot cover eventually came from another S-Max that had come in, creating the same problems for the next punter.
After fixing the issues and forking out for a new key the car wasn't any cheaper than we could have purchased from a main dealer and without the aggravation.

Terrible Dealer
Terrible dealer, worst we have ever seen. I totally agree with some o f the other reviewers here when they say the people there were extremely rude.
Located at a shady spot and you have to walk to another secluded spot to see the other stock that gets advertised on Autotrader etc.
No details of vehicles, when you ask about details and cost, I was rudely questioned "Why have you come here if you do not like the vehicle and price on internet"
Shady and slippery dealer with costs same as volvo dealers (even more if you have time to compare with reading and south Hampton dealers) but without any the same guarantee and on top of it you have to pay multiple other "hidden" fees which are "nicely" placed on the back seat of every car
Will never recommend them. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid
Part Ex Price
Offered me far less than market value for my wifes car yet they had a similar one for sale for over £4K more !!!! Dealt with Hilton motors in end who gave me £1500 more for wifes car against a very reasonabley priced V60. Go there instead....

Trustworthy And Good Value
I bought an XC90 from Ravenscroft at the start of May. The salesman I dealt with didn't try to pressure the sale, just offered open and honest advice over the differing specs which I appreciated and then encouraged me to test drive to make my own mind up. That's not to say he wasn't attentive he was. There was plenty of choice and all the vehicles were competitively priced compared with the market.
The purchase itself was faultless, and the car was ready as arranged. They offered drive away 7 day insurance which made picking the car up easy and a decent six month warranty.
The car itself came with all the manuals service records, two keys. Really could have been brand new, except it was three years old.
After a few days I got an "engine service caution" warning, this was quickly sorted (the next day) at the garage they use and there wasn't any ongoing problem.
As per some other reviews if you want a smarmy sales man and haggling over the price don't go. If you want open honest advice, and prices that are the price (but as stated very competitive) go to Ravencroft.
Ps- And if you are thinking of buying an XC90, they are lovely cars.

Efficient, Friendly And No Sales Games
We purchased a Volvo XC90 from the team at Ravenscroft. What I liked about it was there was no need to bargain as the price was aligned to the market and we were told from the outset "the prices are per the listings". Andy was helpful and friendly and when we had a very minor issue after the purchase and he sorted it no questions asked under the warranty. If you looking for the sales schmoozing, latte on arrival and the chance to barter on the price Ravenscroft may not be for you - but if you want a good car, no frills and good after sales service go and see these guys.
Good Cars Reasonably Priced But Need To Be. Watch
Good cars reasonably priced but need to be. Watch out for missing spare (2nd)key (essential and very expensive to buy)Offered 2nd hand one at a price but original mysteriously reappeared after doing some research ie I contacted previous owner for info; check original spec. and make sure everything that should be in the car is - our floor mats were missing which we were told had been removed by valet company because of wear and tear (from an otherwise immaculate car??) Again, expensive but essential to replace; check price on website against showroom price before buying, might save you a few hundred pounds; owner's manual missing, promised a replacement, asked several times but have never received one; any problems, be ready for defensive attitude from sales staff and owner himself.

Used Car
Do not buy a car from this uninterested salesman! He couldn't really get rid of us quickly enough after he wouldn't offer even a hint of discount even though we'd driven 120 miles to get there. It was a nice car, and the right car, but no real personal skills, how this guy has made a living selling cars for 20 years I don't know. Not even road tax, an extra £200 to pay for the warranty which we didn't want. Not even that is included in the sale price. Really I have nothing good to say about this company, google reviews seem to sing the same tune. If he had been up front and told us there was no discount at all, I could have made that decision on viewing the car or not, rather than him hoping on a wing and a prayer that I would buy it and wasting my time.
The above review is rubbish. I bought my car from this company in June 2012, and the service was 100%. They are honest, polite and could not do enough to help me. I travelled to Fleet by train to collect my car from them, and they even sent a car out to collect me from the station, now how much better could that service be. Why should they lower the price. Do you go into other shops and ask for discounts. I could not fault Keith's service and attention to his customers.
