Innocent Customer Mistake Not Helped - Buyer Beware

My review concerns the customer service I received from Quoteline Direct rather than the breakdown companies they use. Basically I had a problem and they have refused to accept any blame in the mix-up nor help reimburse me any of the money I am out of pocket(about £50) despite speaking on the phone with one of their staff and their manager for nearly an hour and a half!

This is the third year I have been with them and did not need them until recently. I renewed the cover late in December 2013 with the good price highlighted in large print. They took the money quickly and efficiently. However I had not noticed in their renewal letter in the smaller print that they had changed the breakdown company they use. Nowhere was it flagged up that their breakdown number would therefor also change. They say this info was in the policy docs but I did not receive these and forgot to chase for them due to the hectic Christmas and water problems at home we had to get sorted urgently at the time. I broke down on a bank holiday and rang the "Quoteline Direct Break down cover" number they had previously provided me and was told my cover was expired and I would have to pay for a call out. I insisted I had renewed my cover but had to pay never the less. Turns out this was not Quoteline I was speaking to but their old breakdown company. Quoteline are closed outside normal office hours and cannot help with any problems like this. So I paid up and now Quoteline won't accept any fault nor help me with even a partial reimbursement/good will gesture. I have been treated politely but legalistically. They say they are sympathetic but actions would speak louder than words in this department! This company seems to have little material good will available for their customers and I urge others to think hard before they hand their money over to them nor trust them to come to their rescue in their time of need...

Happy For Money I Paid

Bought European breakdown cover for 59 quid. Got 13 year old minivan. On way back from the Czech Republic my car developed engine problem - ceased belt tensioner, later i was told even water pump leak and air conditioning compressor bearing damaged. I promptly parked at the nearest service station and called assistance number i was given.Within about 30 mins i received call from local towing company and after another 30 - 40 mins tow truck arrived. As i didn't required replacement car or hotel accommodation (passing friend gave me a lift to friend's house) the vehicle was hoisted and taken to agreed local service. After i collected it (took about 3 days to sort as the breakdown happened Saturday night) i received one more call from QuoteLine asking if everything was all right and when i returned home to England they send me a form for my expenses reimbursement (in my case train ticket and public transport i needed to use to get back to my car). In another week or two the check arrived.

Overall the experience (apart from breaking down part and 300 i had to pay for parts and work) was very pleasant. Never thought such a cheap policy would work but it does. I'm definitely going to renew and i already recommended it to my friends going abroad.

I Have Had Quoteline Direct's Breakdown Cover For

I have had Quoteline Direct's breakdown cover for about 9 years now. I have had to use them 3 times for the same car within a relatively short space of time (don't ask!). On all 3 occasions the recovery vehicle arrived in under 45 minutes which I thought was more than reasonable for a policy costing only £59.

My colleague also uses their cover and when his car broke down they were true to their word and transported it 30 miles to the garage of his choice.

I opted for the Quoteline Direct policy because I do need the European cover every year. At £59 it's incredible value for money. I've just checked and it looks as though their website has been updated. The old version was a bit out of date, but this one looks really easy to use. The cover is now with Britannia Rescue and the only difference I can see is that they cover vehicles of any age now.

I'll be renewing my breakdown cover with Quoteline Direct later this year and would not hesitate to recommend them to a friend.

This Is A Very Misleading Company In General - Mak

This is a very misleading company in general - make sure you read the fine print and don't trust what the sales person tell you to get your signature. As far as the breakdown cover...I wish I had a pack lunch to keep me company!

I Have Used Quoteline Direct Breakdown Cover 4 Tim

I have used Quoteline Direct Breakdown Cover 4 times with my old Rover, Average response time was about 30 minutes, even they claim it is 20. Europassistance is the break down recovery company they cooperate with. It is very good and they managed to fix my car by the road, even the problems had more than average dificulty. In one case the time exceeded the one hour limit but they fixed my car at no extra cost. I would suggest it to everybody especially people that drive abroad.
