Europ Assistance Breakdown Cover

Just got home from one of those days!! My Laguna's cam belt went (I heard it snap, and all the engine warning lights came on) so it's a write off. Europe Assistance were recommended to me by my Dad, and they were great. When I told the operator that the cam belt had gone he didn't question it, just arranged for a recovery truck to come and get it. The man arrived (he was from a local garage paid by Europe assistance) and he was a decent, friendly guy. I was a bit cheeky and just asked him to drop the car at my garage and post the keys through the letterbox, so I could go on with my night with a friend. I gather my car is now at the garage, although I don't much care. The point I am making is that the service was good.

i took eu cover to drive to germany for an emergency as my neice died in a traffic accident,i explaind where and why i was going and bought the policey they advised me to.my 5yr old son and i set off as i had to take him being a single dad to my sisters house in germany but we broke down in the netherlands around lunch time.

the area was dangerous as some lorry drivers explaind as it was a spot for prostituion and drugs.i had to keep ringing the aa and they kept saying they will ring me back but never did!(over £100 in phone calls).

by this time it was evening and dark and they eventualy said i am not coverd!!

my son and i were left with no food or water and had to sleep in the car which could of been avoded for the sake of a 3 mile tow to a town!

luckily 2 danish lorry drivers protected us for the night and told us to lock the doors!they then helped us get to a garage the following day and am completely in there debt!

i compained when i got back and i got a letter saying i cant even get my policey money back and wasnt coverd so what did i pay for???????

i asked for coppies of all tape recordings and documents to take legal action and just keep being ignored!!they never call me back or any help what so ever and i dont think they relise how dagerous or scary the whole thing was and the fact of where we were trying to get to and why!

i still ring several time per week and get nowhere but there is no way i am going to leave it for putting my sons life in danger and some of the things he had to see where we were!

why do they withhold the recordins and details and more to the point why not come to our aid on cover we paid for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had oil leak on way to campsite in France ,got to campsite and phoned europ assistance,they quickly sent mechanic with recovery truck, couldn't repair on the spot ,so took it to nearest vw garage who did the work ,they then sent taxi to take me from campsite to garage..job done all in 2 days.

I had an accident in Canada and had to fight for 9 months before they paid out only a fraction of what I was covered for. What an uphill battle it was. Poor poor poor poor service.

Have arranged this cover for several years through the Caravan and Camping Club. Had to use the service for the first time after a tyre blowout. Very unimpressed, told me they couldnt arrange assistance because I was on a toll road (which I wasnt) and only the french police could provide/arrange a for a breakdown vehicle so I would have to call them myself. So i walked to the nearest petrol station who arranged for the local garage to come and help (who europe assist then paid).

I felt having to arrange for my own breakdown truck i wasnt getting a huge amount of benefit from Europe Assitance cover

PLEASE do yourself a huge favour and avoid this bunch of cowboys. The service is rubbish, they never return phone calls, they miss delivery deadlines for returning the vehicle, they're rude and unfriendly on the phone, and they never apologise - not even when you take them to the Financial Ombudsman and win as I did! The only thing that's genuine about them is the 'ASS' is Europ Assist!

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

I went to France for a skii trip and unfortunately I got ill. I called europ assistance in France and first of all they don't speak English. When I came back to the UK to make the claim they asked me to send all the receipts to the branch in the UK. 4 weeks after I sent all the receipts EA contacted me saying that I should send all the receipts and paperwork to the branch in France and that all the documents were sent to me but they never arrived. I called them back asking for the documents and they said they had sent the documents to the branch in France. When I call the branch in France they told me that they never received any documents for my case. So my documents were missing and they never refund me.

they left me in my wedding day on the road for 9 hrs.....

I spend 100£ of calls to chaise them

I have no words about this company, I ended up to a doctor cause I couldn't go to the toilet for so long and I had problems....

people, there are so many insurances, just choose anyone else!

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY.

THEY SENT A GUY OUT TO ME WHO BASICALLY JUMP STARTED THE CAR AND SAID LEAVE IT RUNNING FOR AN HOUR THEN TURN IT OFF AND YOU'LL BE FINE. SO THAT IS WHAT I DID AND AFTER THE HOUR WOULD THE CAR START? - NOT AT ALL. I RE-CONTACTED THEM AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO KNOW OR HELP IN ANYWAY. JUST LOG A COMPLAINT WHICH WILL TAKE 28 DAYS FOR A RESPONSE. NOT MUCH USE TO ME WHEN I NEED TO GET MY CAR STARTED. THE WOMAN WAS RUDE AND ARGUMENTATIVE. NO SERVICE AT ALL BUT VERY QUICK TO TAKE YOUR £70 DIRECT FOR PAYMENT TO ACHIEVE NOTHING. THESE PEOPLE DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS

I recently broke down in the snow, was expecting to wait a long time as i realised that i would not be the only one. Spoke to a lovely girl who was very sympathetic and took the time to talk to me and find out if i was ok. to my amazement, i was rescued in just under 40 minutes. i have recently spoken with a friend who is with the AA and she also broke down in the snowy weather and was given an pick up tme of 4 hours and 40 minutes! they also kept in contact and gave me a call later in the day to check that all was ok. very pleasant experiance.
