Have Been Driving Rover 414 16v 1.4l 94' Rover For
Have been driving Rover 414 16v 1.4l 94' Rover for two years. It have never left me down. It is economical on 90 km/h it consumes 5,5 litres of fuel. Parts are also quite cheap for so reare car and I was surprised that it is no problem to get them in Latvia. Car is light and stearing is easy, gear change is precise. I am satisfied with this car! it is shame that there is no more Rover cars production.

I Got A 1.4 96 Rover 414si In December 2006 For &p
I got a 1.4 96 rover 414si in December 2006 for £700 inc vat. I needed a cheap car after returning from travelling and my dad got me it through a friend who owned a business and did not need it anymore. It had 66k on the clock, alloy wheels, electronic front windows and mirrors and power steering. The head gasket had been changed.
I have had it over 2 years and it is the best car I have owned. It is very spacious, quiet and does close to 44mpg on the motorway. The ride is excellent even compared to newer cars. I didn't know this at the time but the SI model was the best of the 414's. The car past its MOT the first time round. The second time the headlights were out and rear brakes but nothing fundementally wrong. The tracking was out at the back which wore out the back tyres. I was unware the rear wheels could be adjusted. The key fob went wrong, which cost me £80, but that could have happened to any Rover including a land rover.
It now has 86K on the clock. Due to the dimise of Rover the car isn't worth much at all and parts are expensive. The HG will go around 100k and at £600 it just isn't worth doing. The car nearly always starts and was fine in the snow when brand new cars were breaking down.
I didn't know the HG went on Rovers when I got it. I check the coolent regulary. The 1.4 engine is fine when there is just 2 people in the car. Add a 3rd or 4th and you notice it. The handling isn't great. The seats are not that comfortable after a few hours of driving. Apart from that a very good car indeed especially for the money I paid. Due to the depreciation I would never have bought one from new. It is sad this British car manufacturer went under.

Bought My Rover To Replace A Citroen Ax Gti, Regre
Bought my Rover to replace a Citroen AX GTI, regretted it quickly. Wanted something bigger and more mature, but I missed the quick, sporty little AX's handling. Good car for what it is, smooth on the motorway, quiet in town, but no fun on a back road, rolls about in the corners and the dead feeling steering doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I reckon sports shockers and poly bushes would help a bit, but I'm not really keen to spend much on it. Fancy a corrado now.

I Went From 98 Rover 200 To 96 Rover 414 16v 1.4l
I went from 98 rover 200 to 96 Rover 414 16v 1.4l and was supprised how good the car is, the 1.4l 16v engine is very good in a this size of car has same bhp [103bhp standard] of most 1.6l engines and even some 1.8l engines but suffers in torque and power band but can keep up with alot of other cars, I added a K&N air filter kit a rage back box and had a race with a 1.8l 8v golf gti and just about kept up with him until about 100mph, Handerling is good with quality tires but suspension is a little to soft, Inside their is plenty of room at the front and is ok in rear has a good size boot. K series engines are quite fast in 16v form but known to have gasket problems and clutches are known to have their problems but other wise very reliable. I would like to see more body kits for them and more mods the mods that are out are expensive, Thier are some very fast engines mods avalible as the k series engine is used in alot of club racing and the lotus elise uses same engine. I say fit the 2.0l turbo T series engine. Alot of people do not like Rovers but I say their not that bad.
Ps sorry to go on a bit [but i could go on and on].
Hi. I'm from Romania, and I want to change my engine because I can't understand where the problem is. Can you help me to find a 1.4 16V engine for a 1998 Rover 414i 16v? I have problems with the engine, and I think that it is better buying another engine than to repair the old one. Now I have 75 horse power, and I don't understand where the problem is. I also had a problem with the oil that entered the cooling system, the radiator...all the system. Now it's fixed, but I don't have enough power in the engine. Can anyone help me? Please contact me via the Review Centre forum.
Regards.
