Saab 9-5 2.3t Se Saloon 1998 Manual
Fast, Stylish and Reliable.
I Own a 2.3T SE in Black with leather, cruise control, PAS, climate control, remote central locking, radio cd and tape player, heated seats, 4 electric windows. 156k Miles. Heated Mirrors.
This car has been amazing. Easy to drive, fast, and not as bad on fuel as I imagined it would be.
The only thing I think is a pain in the neck is you have to remove the front bumper to change the air filter.
Found a few of the buttons inside a little plastic feeling as I have accidently broken a couple of them and had to replace them like the hazard light switch.
Shame that SAAB is no longer making cars.
I will be keeping this one for a very long time and will be getting a newer one when it dies.
In my opinion BUY ONE if you are thinking about it as they are much better than you might think.
And the boots are huge.

If You're Tempted By Low Second Hand Prices - Bewa
If you're tempted by low second hand prices - beware, Saab 9-5 are low for a reason! My example of an Aero is a money-pit. In 35k miles it has needed replacement rear shocks, cat, DI (ignition) pack, computer display, turbo, gearbox rebuild x2, throttle body....the list goes on. Enthusiasts will tell you that they're not all like this but all you have to do is surf the web to see that they are fraught with common problems including all of the previously mentioned plus things like the oil pickup getting "sludged-up" and starving the engine of oil. Don't listen to the brand loyal enthusiasts who will tell you how reliable these cars are...they are not....just talk to anyone in the trade and they will wince if you tell them you own a 95.
If you're a company car driver they're worth the risk .......as a private owner avoid at all costs
In driving terms there is simply too much power for the crude chassis althought they are good motorway cars.
This is my first and last SAAB.

The Saab 9-5 Saloon 2.3t Is My Company Car, Arrang
The Saab 9-5 Saloon 2.3T is my company car, arranged through a rental company.
This Saab 9-5 Aero version is a power monster. The first two days I got it, I nearly hit the car in front a few times as I stepped on the acceleration pad too hard. I was driving a Nissan Cefiro 2.0 before. Besides the power, the car actually is very economical on fuel. I believe this is due to the very low RPM (about 2800 to 3300rpm) when my car is cruising at 140km/h on highway, the trip computer shows the fuel consumption as low as 7.9l/100km.
Road holding at high speed and cornering are excellent. It is extremely responsive and stays on line even on a very sharp bend.
However, the comfort is not as good as a typical Japanese sedan. Engine noise and road noise is visible and shock absorption is hard. The airconditioning also gives some kind of low hissing sound.
The car cabin is not as big as you imagine when looking at the exterior. It is at best the same size as a BMW 3 series, and smaller than my previous Nissan Cefiro 2.0.

The Saab 9-5 Saloon 2.3t Is A Cheap Family Car Whi
The Saab 9-5 Saloon 2.3T is a cheap family car which is quick and safe to drive according to ENCAP.
Pretty good build quality with the SE version being quite luxury.
Nice to own something a little different instead of the usual BMW's and such like.
Would of been better if it was rear wheel drive.
Dont worry about high mileage this car loves it but dont forget the service's.
On the whole a very good car which has a bit of go in it with out the sting from the insurance companies.
