Worst Letting Agency Ever
We moved in in march 2013, place was disgusting! Charged us £400 for processing the agreement that included credit search! Did not do any kind of search. These people are the most greedy and filthy animals. They are on front foot to take your money and as soon as they have it, they forget that you even exist!. They were taken over by similar firm. This new company is worse than Alan Harvey! Charged me £125 to extend the tenancy!. Our negotiations fell apart and we decided to not extend the tenancy. Its been 3 months, still waiting for the refund of £125!. Dishwasher stopped working, took 3 weeks to send a contractor for inspection and one more week to fix it!. My sincere advice, if you want peace of mind stay away from them.

New Owners, No Change In Attitude
I have noticed that Alan Harvey property 'services' was bought out in June 2012 by a set up called Countrywide. Given this information it is sad to see that if anything the standard of service did not improve, if anything it got worse.
Quite how this business carries on is beyond me.
There are other letting agents. Best to try them.

They Just Want Your Money.they Will Charge Ridicul
They just want your money.they will charge ridiculous amount of money for little things. They are nice when you go and view the property but as soon as you paid your deposit an rent an signed the agreement they pretend like they dont even know you. After the agreeement if you have any problem they will ignore you and get back to you after couple of days even if it is urgent for you.
Once my boiler was not working and when i called them they said its not an emergency so they will sort out after 3 days. I had no access to hot water for 3 days and due to that i had cold.
They charge ridiculous amount of money for small pity things like for one light bulb which costs 50 pence they charge £2:00.
All they want is your money and they never give the full deposit back.never!!!!
Every year they put the rent up.they charged me £50 a month for a parking space for which i did not have fully access. Its like first come first park.
I had a problem with the fob key which was not working properly, it would not open the door, i would have to wait for few mins outside untill it works so when i call them and told about the problem they said £50 for a new key.

Find Another Letting Agent
These people are only good for one thing - taking your money.
They have proved themselves to be sloppy and inefficient, rude and ungracious.
The latest insult thrown my way was a charge of £25 just to renew my tenancy. This one has just been invented, as it was not there the last time I renewed.
What did I like? Well the flat was nice, but that was not down to them.

Cleaning Fee Scam!
I paid these lot a "cleaning fee" as they referred to it when i first moved in.
The day I moved in the place wa disgusting! Dirt and dust everywhere, cooker oiled and toilet still had toilet paper in the loo and bin!!!
I emailed them to tell them this, they ignored me!
Checkout day came a year later and despite a deep clean being paid for by me, they sent me a bill of over £200 for cleaning.
"Dust on door frame", "Dust on wall sockets" - WHAT????
They are now trying to scam me out of £200 to cover this even though I paid a fee of £70 when I first moved in to a DIRTY FLAT!
Stay away from these lot, they have pulled this a few times if you look around this website for reviews on them.
The fee you paid when you moved in was a checkout fee not a cleaning fee . Once we had done a checkout and comparing to inventory which you signed you left the property in a condition much worse than when you moved in that is why you were charged for a clean

Terrible Humans Who Are Terrible At Their Jobs
They didn't do what they are paid to do, which is to act as an intermediary between a landlord and a prospective tenant. One of these clowns screwed up the move-in date, causing all sorts of unnecessary grief that could have been remedied if Clown A had read the contract. When we tried to get the admin fee back our plea didn't fall on deaf ears. It landed on someone who showed no contrition, no respect and just cared about money.
The point of the admin fee is that you correctly handled the administration. They didn't therefore you default the fee, right?
In a word: Avoid.

Excellent Customer Service!
I was looking for a new place just before the Olympics which was a terrible time for a tenant to move in & out.
Everyone was really friendly as soon as I visited them in their office. That was the 4th agent I had visited so far and they could't manage to find a flat within my preferences.
They provided me different alternatives within my budget. They responded really quickly whenever I called and/or emailed. They did the best negotiation on my behalf.
Finally I am living here for 3 months now without any surprises. I am really happy with my new "home" and with the service they provided to me.
Many thanks for finding this lovely home for me! Recommended for everyone...

Another High Street Charleton
First it was the lies to encourage the deposit. Then it was the fees. Next came the awful customer service, silly letters and greed. This agent typifies the kind of narrow-minded, egotistical and erratic agency which can spring up and make a quick buck. They are ignorant, arrogant and have some of the worst housing stock around. Avoid them, unless you want to lose your deposit and dignity, despite leaving the property cleaner and more presentable than when you moved in.
This is the exact same issue i am having with them too. I paid a cleaning fee when i first moved in and the property was disgusting. I then had it cleaned professionally when i left and they are trying to charge me another £200 cleaning fee stating "Dust on plug sockets". Stay well clear of them!
sorry to hear you were not happy with service if you could email me full account and the property address i will look into your complaints
sorry you fill so unhappy with the service you recieved please email me on [email protected] and i will be happy to look into your complaint if any

Wonderful, Excellent Service (not)
This is going back some time, but in summer 2003 I rented a ground floor flat in Roman Road (435B in case there's anyone in there, though I doubt it).
It was at the back of a shop, one of the many newsagent/grocers that line Roman Road. I thought the flat would be in a better condition, it was a little small but at the time it was handy for getting into London (Mile End and Bethnal Green not to far away), the local parks are nice (Victoria Park round the corner, Roman Road market nearby)....
You notice I've not said much about the property, well the least said the better. The Landlord didn't tell me about the damp, that actually gave me asthma due to the spores from mould growing on the walls (even some mildew grew on clothes I hung in my wardrobe). I couldn't get a TV or even mobile signal, and when the tenant in the flat above had a problem with a leaking pipe, that came through my ceiling, neither Alan Harvey nor the Landlord wanted to know.
The Landlord owned the carpet shop at the end of the road (actually on the same parade of shops I was on), but he refused to deal with the damp.
Russell Pearlman, the Lettings Agent said that Alan Harvey was just an 'introductory body' and it's down to me to deal with the Landlord myself.
In the end, I just stopped paying the rent, and moved out after putting the keys to the flat on thru the letterbox of Alan Harvey's Roman Road branch.
The first and last time I use a low rent (pardon the pun) Lettings Agent...
I thought higher up the food chain would be better (Winkworth) but in a few years time, I was to discover, they're all as bad as each other :(
Russell Pearlman was there in 2003?? What a waste of life
that was 10 years ago we no longer deal with that landlord
