Unprofessional, Rude And Incompetent
I have had several policies with Lancaster over the years and tend to buy on prices, that is probably were I am going wrong. I have had problems with each policy. First policy was for a classic car, I had paid in full and there was two weeks to run when I sold the car, Lancaster wanted £53 to cancel the policy, I complained and had the case passed to a Manager, we will waive the 53p this time, 53p! The call staff didn't bat an eyelid when I pointed out we had been arguing about £53 for the last 30 minutes. Second policy and Lancaster never sent my proof of no claims, even after four calls, oh yes sir its in the post. Third, my last insurance had come to end of cover, heard nothing from Lancaster and I never renew but shop around, cancelled my payment. A week later, you owe us £196! for a policy they have never sent and I have not requested, they won't pass on my no claims. I feel that automatic renewal is unethical and harks back to the bad days of pyramid selling. By not saying no you automatically mean yes, can't be right. Some say " it makes it so much easier, I don't have to worry about not being covered" Muppets! You get charged a fortune and the Insurers hope you don't check. Estate Agents, Bankers and Insurance Companies, nicer world without them?

I needed to transfer my policy to my new car this was achived with minimum fuss and little time .The original price was also very competitive.
Appalling Company Do Not Use
Stay away from this company and if you are already with them and having issues contact the financial ombudsmen as we have successfully got our money back. We paid up front for 12 months insurance. We provided all the paperwork they required but despite this they cancelled our policy and tried to charge us for them to do so. We said we owed them nothing and that in fact they owed us as we had only had 3 months insurance from a 12 month policy. They wrote to us in an aggressive manner threatening us with legal action if we did not pay. We spoke to them on the phone and again their manner was aggressive and threatening. My husband asked the girl if the conversations were recorded to which she said yes. We made a complaint to the financial ombudsmen who contacted Lancaster and the underwriter aegas. Aegas soon distanced themselves from Lancaster and the FO said they would undertake a full investigation and put a hold on our account. Despite this Lancaster continued to send us threatening letters whic we again reported to to FO. It has taken almost 3 months but thanks to the FO we have been reimbursed by Lancaster. Do not let Lancaster bully you.
Auto Renewal Rip Off
My policy was coming up for renewel with sureterm direct, i never received any correspondance from my insurance company leading up to my renewal date informing me of the cost of any new policies offered for my next term of insurance and subsequently not given the chance to cancel the auto renewal process, after my renewal date had lapsed i got numerous letters from a company called lancaster insurance who i had never heard of informing me they had taken out an insurance policy on my behalf, i contacted them and explained that i did not know who lancaster insurance was and that i did not receive any correspondence from them leading up to my renewal date with my original insurer sureterm which they informed that they were indeed the same company , i explained that i was not happy with new policy they had implemented and that i was never given the opportunity to speak about any new policies in sufficient time , i explained on countless occasions the problem i had encountered ! but to cut a long and tireless story short they were not prepared to waver the cancellation of a new policy costs , in my view the auto renewal process is a system that deceives people out of money , if you have not got a good memory or the postman does not deliver your mail or your mail gets lost in transit lancaster insurance could not careless , i would avoid this company like the plague, they have no compassion for customers when genuine errors occur and by making myself pay this cancellation fee they have missed out on me taking out any policies with them in the future, i was with sureterm ( lancaster insurance )for 4 years , they have lost any future business with myself and further damaged the reputation of the insurance industry .

My husband and I have been insured with Lancaster Insurance for the past 5 years and have been pleased with the price and service we have received. The staff we have spoken to are always willing to answer any questions we have had and the process is always hassle free. Our only comment would be about all the paperwork we receive but I guess its all necessary. Have recommended to our friends and family over the years too.

When Discussing The Policy Over The Phone With The
When discussing the policy over the phone with their sales team, i asked twice whether the policy covered all european countries and was told it did, however when my poliy documents were not received by email i had to chase, and when asked the same question again was told the european countries i was to travel to were not covered, i was misold the policy and wasted alot of time, and they have tried to charge me a cancellation fee of the policy when it was there fault i was canceeling in the first place, stay clear of them they are very poor indeed.
