Worst Experience Of My Life

Avoid this company at all costs!

to cut the long story short ( as the whole procedure took 3 years!) I have to say that they actually admitted that in order to minimise the cost for themselves they have actually accepted full liability without even informing me! and when I asked on what ground that was:

1) initially they told me they can support my " not at fault claim" as it was her word agains mine( and NO EVIDENCE ) so we should go for 50/50

2) when I said I understood that and said ok if you say so..... they said "well the other side rejected this but because for you it does not matter ( from the no claim discount etc) if its 50/50 or 100 and in order to minimise our own cost and just close the case we have agreen on 100 your fault!!!!"

needless to say that they never call to update you or even return your calls and just pushing to close it.

they just "kindly" wrote me a letter saying that they accepting my 100% at fault but if I am not happy I should call within 14 days and if I dont they assume I agree with the decision. When I called ( within 14!!!!days!!!) they said that the desicion is final and the letter was just to let me know!!!

I am now drafting legal prcedures agains then.

Try To Bully Me To Part With My Money!

My car insurance policy expired and Egg tried inviting me to renew by raising the premium(up £90)(some invitation!) I got a cheaper deal somewhere else. Three more friendly invitations came. Then came a threatening letter saying that I owed them £56. As I already paid for the new policy in full, I just ignored it. Then another threatening letter said that they would add recovery cost to the £56. I phoned the number provided under the signature, BUT NONE OF THE CHOICE ON THE MENU FITTED my category and I just keyed a number. The man listened to me for about 10 minutes and then said I had got the wrong department. He refused the pass on the message that I had already bought another policy somewhere else. Egg's attitude stank as they just wanted to bully you to pay and there was no other choice on the automated menu. I am pretty sure a lot of old, confused or mentally challenged might have been frightened and coughed up the money. Savage bully! I complained to the Financial Ombudsman who sent a letter on my behalf and Egg said they waived the money. I was extremely annoyed when another Financial Ombudsman woman phoned me and said a lot of motorists drove without valid insurance policies and she said that there was no way I would know if they had acted on my behalf unless I forced the data protection act on them! Charming and we are paying her wages! I want EGG to be fined for threatening me with fees, not providing a proper phone number with a proper choice and they should train their staff to pass on messages.

The Company That Refuses To Pay Valid Non-fault Claims

In May 2011 a van driver knocked off the folded-in, driver side wing mirror of my empty parked car. He also damaged another vehicle. He was caught by a builder who was working nearby and so had to give his details. When I phoned up his employer they admitted it and gave me their insurance policy number.

As I legally couldn't drive my car the glass in the wing mirrow was fixed the next day. I then contacted Egg to ensure the entire wing mirror could be fixed properly.

They seemed to be unhappy that:

1. I wasn't injured

2. Didn't want a hire car

3. Wanted to take it to my local VAT registered garage who could fix it within half a day cheaply.

In June I sent the receipts to them to be reimbursed by recorded signed for post.

I heard nothing from Egg so phoned them up in the middle of July. Egg claimed they received them a week after Royal Mail said they were delivered. I was told the receipts were at the engineers and the customer service guy would phone me back.

As he didn't I phoned up a week later and spoke to someone else.

In August after still not hearing from Egg I put in a formal complaint. Eventually at the end of September I received a reply to my formal complaint.

Egg had:

1. Lost all my receipts

2. Would send me the cheque for the accident repairs within 10 working days

3. Send me a cheque for £25 compensation.

In addition none of the customer services reps at Egg had promised to call me back.

In October I still hadn't received the cheque for the accident repairs so phoned them again. The rude lady promised I would receive a cheque within 5 days. After 7 days I phoned them up again stating I would contact the financial ombudsman service and Egg promised I would receive a cheque within 7 days.

As I knew no cheque would arrive I actually put in my complaint to the financial ombudsman service on the day I phoned them.

A week after the cheque should have been received by me Egg had the cheek to send me a renewal notice. As you can guess I will be taking my business elsewhere as if a company cannot be trusted to settle small claims I wouldn't like to deal with them for a major accident.

Egg policies are under written by UK Insurance and all their customer service staff seem to be British.

Most companies now do sonmthieg called segmentation it means they have many more factors that they consider when giving someone a rate. used to be based on just a few things like gender, cost of the car, where you live etc. Now it is based on many more factors including your credit score, driving record, pay habits etc. So I'd advise you on two things:1. Shop around, no one company offers the best rate. There are literally (no exageration) some one billion different rates that one could get based on all of the factors that different companies use.2. I'll fully disclose that I work for an insurance company. I won't tell you which to go to specfically since you will think I'm just pushing my company. But please thing of these things;Ask what their A.M. Best rating is, the higher the more financially secure the company is. A.M Best has a web site you can access to understand the simple rating system.Stick to the larger companies, they tend to have the best claims service. Allstate, Geico, Nationwide, Progressive, State Farm. (I did that alphabetically so you won't think I'm pushing my company cause I'm not)Ask if they can offer you other insurance for you like life, homeowners/renters, etc. Always best to have your policies with one company cause they will give you discounts and they will be more tolerent of you if you have an accident.Lastly, don't just look at price. Most insurance policies are the same and no one likes to pay for insurance so often they go for the least price but remember you are buying a promise to be there in case of an accident. Don't trust that to the cheapest carrier. That is also another reason why you should go with a larger and more financially stable company.Sorry about the long answer but the decision is more important than most people think.

Worst Insurance Company Ever!!

I HAD A NON FAULT CRASH 8 MONTHS AGO. RANG EGG AND WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE PAPERS SENT OUT FOR ME TO SIGN AND TO WRITE DOWN DETAILS OF THE CRASH. THESE NEVER ARRIVED- EVEN AFTER SEVERAL PHONECALLS( EACH TELLING ME THEY WERE IN THE POST!) THERE HAS BEEN NO CORRESPONDENCE FROM THEM AT ALL- ITS ALWAYS ME CONTACTING THEM! NOBODY HAS BEEN OUT TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE ON MY CAR. THEN I RECEIVE A LETTER FROM THE 3RD PARTIES CAR HIRE COMPANY ASKING FOR MY INSURANCE DETAILS IN ORDER TO CLAIM BACK COSTS, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS AT FAULT! I RANG AND QUERIED THIS AND WAS TOLD THAT EGG HAD ADMITTED LIABILITY! EGG HAS NOT EVEN ASKED DETAILS OF THE CRASH, SO HOW COULD THEY POSSIBLY DO THIS?? THEY DODNT EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!! AND THEY HAD NOT EVEN INFORMED ME! ALSO, THE REASON THE HIRE COMPANY WAS WRITING TO ME NOT MY INSURANCE WAS BECAUSE WHEN THEY APPARENTLY RANG EGG I DID NOT EXIST! I HAVE SINCE CANCELLED MY POLICY AS I WAS STILL PAYING £50 A MONTH AND DID NOT SEE THE POINT IN PAYING FOR FULLY COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE WHEN THEY WERE SO IMCOMPETENT. THEY ARE NOW DEMANDING THE FULL YEARS PAYMENT. I HAVE SENT A COMPLAINT TO THE FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN AND AM AWAITING REPLY...STILL HAVE A CRASHED CAR 8 MONTHS LATER, WITH NO TALK OF GETTING IT FIXED!!!

Awful - Never Insure Your Car With Egg Insurance.

Awful - never insure your car with Egg insurance. Had someone reverse into my car - was a right off. My car was sent to a salvage yeard without me being told and without my permission. The tax disc was still in the car with 2 months tax left on. The salvage company decided to claim the remaining road tax without any communication with me. Only had a hire car for one week have been with out any transport for over 3 weeks now - am still off the road as I am trying to sort out the problem with DVLA & my tax disc. Never buy cheap car insurenace - it is not worth it.

Dont Ever Insure With Egg!! I Am Currently Claimin

DONT ever insure with EGG!! I am currently claiming after damaging my steering after skidding on Ice and hitting a kerb. Normal policy line..fine, claims dept AWFUL! They have answered 3 times with a different name, last one was Tesco?! The garage they referred me to offered me a Hyundai I10 (i drive a 2010 Ford diesta Titanium) normally wouldn't care but i am 5 months pregnant and this car as an really bad NCAP rating so really do not feel safe driving it. my insurance company said...Not our problem pay more next time to get like for like (was led to believe when took the polciy I had!) nothing to do with us, spoke to 2 different people who basically laughed down the phone at me! Glad they take safety as a joke! They really really do not acre, do not want to help and are possible the most unprofessional company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. intend on making a formal complaint against the staff I dealt with and changing my insurance to someone else immediately after my car is fixed.STAY AWAY!!! Wouldnt give them any stars but wouldn't let me click none!!!

Very Good Customer Service Once You've Listened To

Very good customer service once you've listened to 2 minutes of information after you've been connected. Dealt with the claim promptly and efficiently. Car already under repair and being tracked on the internet. One real gripe is provision of a courtesy car which won't be delivered for at least another 5 days! Also, the repair garage wasn't the closest approved one to our town. However, they are exceptional. I would recommend Egg above many other insurers I've been with over the years (so far!)
