Tellers At Various Locations Are Always Friendly.
Tellers at various locations are always friendly. They allow a couple overdrafts per year without charging you fees. Never had a problem with any incorrect charges or "suprises" that sometimes you get with banks. Tellers dont try to sell you any new products either and that is the reason I left Wells Fargo!
My Card Number Has Been Compromised 3 Times In 3 Y
My card number has been compromised 3 times in 3 years, each time with the card in my possession--not lost or stolen. It just happened again and I have not used my debit card in a year. (I go into a branch once a week and withdraw enough cash for the week so I never have to use the card--just to try to prevent this exact thing.) I am closing my account and will never bank with Washington Mutual again. PS: I've had both a checking and savings account there for 11 years. Sadly, I don't think they will even miss me as a customer or care that they are losing my business.
I Started Off Thinking That Washington Mutual Was
I started off thinking that Washington Mutual was a wonderful bank, until I actually had a problem. It began when my debit card was compromised. I found out that my card was compromised when I tried to pay for a dinner that I was having with friends and my card came back invalid. I called Washington Mutual and they said that they did not know what happened, but it looked like a banker had cancelled my card. I called back later and after a lot of prodding I was told that my card was compromised, but that they were going to send me a new one. I asked why they hadn't called me to tell me that my card was compromised and they said that that was not their policy. When a card is compromised, their policy is to send out a letter by bulk mail which should be received in 5-7 business days (not including weekends). Fourteen days later I still do not have my debit card and they have told me that it might be another 15 days before I will be able to have access to my card. I haven't even received a notification by mail that the card was compromised. I called the help center to see if they could help me and they said that they would cancel the card being sent and send a new one by bulk mail. I asked if it could be sent any sooner and they said that they could not send it any sooner as it would be against bank policy. They also said that I would not be able to use my card when I received it in the mail because it would have a new pin which would be sent in the mail 9-12 days after I received the debit card. So basically I will be at least a month without use of my card. Washington Mutual prides itself on its personal service, but each time I called the help center I was referred to a different person. When I asked to speak to a service manager, they told me that one would be calling me back. They asked for specific times to call me, which I provided. Instead of calling at that time, they called at a time nowhere near the one I provided. The message told me to call a specific manager at a certain extension. I called back, tried the extension, was transferred over 7 times and finally they told me the extension was not valid. So much for personal service. I will be switching to a new bank.
