Took 9 days to test the phone then offered a fraction of the price then said if we wanted the phone back it would cost us 29 pounds.Do not use this company and the relevant people will be informed so they can stop this.

Please please do not buy from these people. They give you a price and then once they get your handset they half the price stating something is wrong with the phone. They also ask you to post and then do not refund postal charges. Police, press, watchdog etc all involved. They will be shut down soon. Do not use these people. Check out the reviews on Facebook, Twitter etc.

do not use this company. Sent 2 phones in perfect order. They made up faults and tried to offer £33. Original offer was £90. Now want £20 to return. Have reported to watchdog. Police, trading standards and action fraud. Awful company. Ignore emails. ...nice way to do business

I used this company to sell my I-Phone 5S because they made me a good initial offer and I accepted their Trust Pilot accreditation at face value. If only I had read their reviews. My phone was immaculate as it had always had a screen cover and protective case. It was unblemished and looked like new. They e-mailed me to say they were reducing the offer as my phone was scratched and I had misrepresented the condition. I told them they were mistaken and asked them to check the phone and honour the original offer. They continued to claim it was scratched and would only offer me £15 instead of £25 first offered. If I didn't accept the revised offer, I would be charged £20 for the return of my phone! Do not use this company.

Unfortunately I was sucked into the initial offer on this site. I was selling my wife's galaxy 9 plus. This was less than 2years old and had, from the moment of being unpacked, been kept in a Samsung wallet style case. It had no damage to the screen or case. I marked this condition as good and was offered £251. This in hindsight should have rung alarm bells as the next highest offer was £185. I arranged a pick up (which did not happen on the stated day and had to be rearranged) and waited for our money. I then received an email saying that there were two scratches on the bottom of the case and the loudspeaker was of low volume, the counter offer was now £155. It also stated that I would have to pay £20 if I wanted the phone back. I reluctantly accepted the money, but emailed to ask for proof of the scratches (as they did not exist when I packed the phone) and that the speaker function was working fine for my wife when she received call. Sadly this email have not been responded to. I can only conclude that the initial offer was an amount to convince me into sending them the phone which they never intended to honour. I find this practice disgraceful. With the warning from Trust pilot regarding fake reviews, it would seem that my impression of the trading practices is true.

The worst service and customer service I have ever come across, please stay away from dealing with this company, they offer a high price for your item then value it at less than a 3rd of the price then still charge you £20 to get your property back, they have had my phone for over 2 weeks and there is no way to contact them direct to find out what’s going on, they have taken advantage of this covid19 situation and are preying on people who need money, they have caused me so much stress and anxiety, these last two weeks have been horrendous

Quoted me the best price out there fir my iPhone 7 Plus £180 - It was fully working & in excellent condition - no issues at all. I paid £8 to special delivery it to them - treycwmailed wuth a long list of totally made up issues £ offered £60??? I immediately declined & asked for it to be returned to me - they demanded I pay them £20 to return it. This company should be closed down - I am reporting them - looking at reviews now this is their standard practice

This company quotes a high price for your old mobile phone and then offers a very low price when they receive it, quoting fictitious faults, including saying the phone is locked even when it's Sim Free. They will not reply to complaints and only send pre-scripted emails of a "take it or leave it" format. If you don't accept their lower offer, they want another £20 to send back a phone that might not even be yours judging by the way they assess the phones. Avoid at all cost.

They offer high money and then make up issues with your phone/device when they get it so to offer a price far far lower. Then try to charge you to return your own property.

Agree. Was offered £34 for an iPod that was in perfect working order with no defects. I accepted the low amount as I no longer used the device. When they received it they offered £6. If I wanted the item returned it would cost me £20??

They quoted a total of £450 for my 2 phones, an iphone 8 plus 256GB and an iphone 8 64GB. Both were less than 2 years old and were in excellent condition. iphone 8 plus had one small scratch on the casing otherwise no cosmetic damages nor any software damages. But when the phones were sent, i was given a revised quote of £205 in total stating crackling earpiece, scratches on screen, charging port being loose, etc. and none of these existed until the day i sent my phones over to them. Was asked to pay £20 to return the phones as apparently i mis-stated the conditions of phones when i applied for an online quote. As stupid as I'm, I went online to check their reviews which is when their scheme dawned on me. I should have done this even before sending my phones over. I wanted my phones back asap as i was concerned my phones would never be returned or in damaged condition, which is when another nightmare occured. I realised there is no contact number for them, only an email which wasn't responded to quickly. I was starting to panic at this stage and i found out their phone number from one of the other reviews which had a screenshot of their previous webpage with a phone number on. Someone answered and when i asked if it's handsetrecycle, they said yes and stated i will receive an email with instructions of making the £20 payment. And indeed i received an email with a paypal email addresses to which i made the payment and again, there was no further comms. I called the same number the next day and the person that attended the call said they are not handsetrecycle (even though it was the same voice that answered the previous day). I challenged that i spoke with them the previous day and it was indeed handsetrecyce, he said they help handsetrecycle with deliveries, not actual repairs. He then checked the status of my phone and said they were dispatched the previous day. I asked for a tracking number to which he responded emailing them back. I did receive my phone in 2 days and there were scratches on my iphone 8 screen which werent there before. They didnt give the money they quoted and on top of it, have damaged my phone. I have went on to sell both my phones for £500 in total via FB marketplace. I will now reach out to paypal to receive a refund of my £20. Beware there are a number of red flags (which a cautious person as myself missed, huge money does it!): 1) No contact number 2) Their T&Cs state a charge of £20 for returning phones where as a no. of other companies state they will return for free 3) they offered the highest price of all, even higher than mazuma or musicmagpie AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!

PLEASE I urge you to not bother with them sent them a perfect iPhone 7 tried counter offering me a ridiculously low offer then because I declined made me pay £20 to return my own phone to me when it only cost £4.55 to return ( no mention of this at the start), I asked for a contact number or address to speak to someone direct, just got blatantly ignored this company is extremely rude please avoid these at all costs they’ve done it to lots of people and it’s not on they need stopping

Sent a fully working phone. Got a very low ‘counter offer’ and they expect you to pay £20 to get your phone back. Use another more trustworthy service.

Still have my phone since December. Avoid at all costs. Trade under various names & as seen on BBC Watchdog called Elite Computers in November. Tried & complained to Trust Pilot but they allow this company to continue to post fake reviews. Suggest if you have been scammed do the same as me. Complain to TrustPilot, Salford Trading Standards & BBC Watchdog as I have done. The usual story. You send your phone because they offer the best price. Then they claim faults that don't exist. I got scammed as I thought they were a big company. Not a small shop on the High St in Manchester.

I had a similar awful experience to others. I sent them a perfect iPhone SE and had an email to tell me that the phone was damaged and made me a much lower counter offer or said they would send me phone back for a £20 fee. I asked for photo evidence of the condition of the phone when they received it and was told initially they'd get back to me and then when I chased them they said they don't visually record the condition of items. So I'm stuck. They are complete cowboys,do not go anywhere near them. I am in the process of seeing if I can report them to Trading Standards to avoid this happening to others.

Yea! They’ve just done the exact same to me!! Sent them a phone I’m perfect condition took loads off it claiming wasn’t good condition . Then the £20 fee!!! And ask for a contact number and just get ignored complete joke this company is I really would HIGHLY advise against using them.

I traded my iphone x for £360 and sent it well packaged with box charging lead & plug and headphone adapter ( have photos of this and its condition ) i received an email saying that it was not in good condition and not as described. they offered me £150 for the phone saying it had scratches and a faulty lcd board, ( it was in perfect condition ), also as i am not a fool i had the phone tested by a very reputable phone dealer and it came back 100% ok. so why would they say it had faultys and not as described ?????. well i tell you why most people with the threat of paying £20 for the return of there phone would just except the lower offer as they think most people will take the money and except it. i did email them and complain and sent them photos of how it was packed and good detail photos but no reply, just an email saying send us £20 if you want the phone back, that was it. i did send £20 and they sent my phone back wrapped in a black plastic bag and a bit of bubble wrap, when i opened the bag ( and it did not take long ) the box had a big label on it with there codes and had blood on the box ( not how i sent ) and the phone was dirty and greasy and the headphone adapter was missing and the box had a dent in it ?????? So it would have been very hard to sell to someone else. avoid, avoid do not have anything to do with these people at any cost you have been warned please check there reviews here not just the good ones look at the bad ones too as most people are having the same issues as myself, i just looked at the good ones. ( bad mistake ) please, please don"t have anything to do with this company.

I sent off two tablets and a phone, not new but in ok condition, based on the website I was expecting £42 the have just offered me £10 for the lot or pay £20 to get them returned. No where does it say about £20 to get them back. Never trust them and never sent them any devices

I arranged for my Samsung galaxy s8 to be sent and sold to handset recycle, at first the communication was brilliant and staff couldn't be anymore helpful until they received the device. I was quoted £100.00 in total after stating the phone was smashed however was in perfect working order. They confirmed the item was actually recieved and was going to be tested that day however this was the last I heard from the team, I emailed them on several occasions and even involved an online fraud team and the police as they were not responding to my emails which were sent daily for 1 week, I eventually after many many failed attempts got hold of a lady who worked for the organisation, she reassured me that the device was still with them and that I was still due the quoted price of £100.00 and had said their systems had been down hense the breakdown in communication. She said the team would be in touch to confirm payment, this took 2 more further days and at this point they threw a counter offer in of £20.00 for the device and not the quoted amount of 100.00 and said if i didn't accept the offer they would expect me to pay £20.00 to return the device they claimed the phone was beyond repair, I refused the offer to start with and demanded to speak with management about it to only be told they only communicate via email, the lady that had reassured me previously took my call and said it would be re evaluated and they would be in touch again with new offer, I explained that if they would not give me the quoted price that I expected them to return my phone free of charge as they hadn't even followed their own terms and conditions let alone the poor service given throughout, it took 24 hours for the company to contact me back and this was to state payment had been made through PayPal even though I had declined the offer in the first place, so now i am left with no Samsung galaxy, a minimal 20.00 payment which I did not agree too and a l Broken link that does not work that offered me the chance to review on their site. I would strongly advise nobody uses handsetrecycle, I will be keeping the fraud team up to date with this and I hope they are discovered to be what they are!

Beware - Do not use them I always look after my phones, and other than general wear and tear, they are never cracked or scratched. I, via Handset Recycle website, entered details of 5 separate phones. I got a good price, UPS collected the phones and I awaited payment. I received an email saying all the phones had been received and checked, and payment would follow. I had to chase for payment several times and when it did eventually arrive, it was less than half the original offer. When l queried this, Handset Recycle said all the phones were badly scratched and in poor condition and the money was a counter offer, for all 5 phones. This was not made clear at all to me, and I know the phones were in good condition. I would definitely not recommend this company at all, and strongly advice contacting them. They just offer you good original offers, then when they have the phones, send a token payment and tell stories about the phone condition. Do not ever use this company !!

Quoted £70 for my mint condition iPad 3rd Gen. The item was in “as new” condition with completely unblemished case and screen. After 4 days of “inspection” they counter offered £40 saying that there were scratches on the case hence reduced price. Alternative was to decline and pay £20 to have it sent back. In my case and I suspect in most cases they invent some issue with the item to reduce their offer price. I took photos of my iPad before sending it off and there are no scratches at all. I have sent theses photos to them as proof with a complaint but as expected have had no response. Suspect that this company is no different to many of these online recycling sites. My advice is to steer well clear and try high street places such as Cash converters or CEX where you can just walk away with your item if you don’ t like the quote. Just wish I’d read a few reviews before selling mine!
