If you are the type who likes to regularly haggle for the best deals or demands a call centre in your country, Three is probably not for you. If on the other hand you are pretty low-maintenance and just don't want to get ripped off, Three is absolutely fine. I have been with Three for 8 years now and I honestly don't understand the negative reviews. I have consistently managed to get coverage where friends on more expensive networks haven't. The deals are great. Only issue is where you need to really engage with the customer service. The sales team is UK based, but for anything else you are going to a call centre in India. The workers are unfailingly, in my experience, polite and helpful. But they are there to sell sell sell. The only bad experience I had was when I was mis-sold a "free" sim card. When I called up to complain they were polite and helpful but I was passed from pillar to post. Eventually I got someone who could listen to my recording and refund me, but it took ages because you are talking to a massive international call centre with the ridiculous division of labour that involves. Now, I know what I want before I call and I don't let them distract me. And am happy.
