Big Disapointment!
The Good points- Gemma (on maternity leave at the mo)
Im sorry thats really all I can think of.
I had so many problems with this shop from start to finish, if I could have bought my dress from somewhere else I would have done but could not find anywhere else locally who stocked the designer.
Where to begin...
1- Being left downstairs in the very cold fitting room in my underwear whilst the person dealing with me went upstairs to answer the door.
2- My size 16 bridesmaid being squeezed into a size 8 dress to "give me a feel of how it would look on her" - certainly did nothing for my bridesmaids confidence.
3- A waistcoat I ordered was ordered in the wrong size twice!
4- Being told the bridesmaids dresses had arrived, asking the girls to take time off work for fittings (as they only do these on mon & fri) to then be phoned a week later and told that infact only 2 had arrived!
5- Huge rudeness and unhelpfulness of the dress fitter- she is payed seperately from the shop but in my eyes its still down to them to ensure she is providing a good service.
6- Having a dress fitting with my bridesmaids and then another bride coming down to try her dresses on whilst we were all squeezed into the corner- luckily I didnt know her but could well have done.
I would never recommend this shop to any of my friends, and neither would my bridesmaids. I was dissapointed about how we were treated, I wanted to enjoy every moment of us having our fittings together and instead it was rushed and very upsetting, in the end I took all the dresses away about a month before the wedding because I was getting so stressed and worried everytime I visited the shop and took them to a dress fitter in basingstoke.
This was when we discovered that my dress was infact 8 inches too big for me (the dress fitter at amarylis said it fitted fine!) The dress fitter deems this to be amarylis's fault for ordering the wrong size but they blamed the designer for the wrong size chart.
Maybe I was just unlucky, but I would never want any bride to experience what I did there :-(
This seems really out of character for them. I've been in contact with them a lot while trying to find my dress and they've been nothing but fantastic. Much better than an awful experience I had with a different shop.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that we offer the very best customer service possible.
I would like to defend certain points that you have made.
At the time you came to us we had changing rooms on the lower ground level. Unfortunately if we have to receive deliveries of customer gowns then we may have to leave a bride unattended for a short moment while we signed for a delivery.
We have three changing rooms as at times we do have to use all of them. I am sorry that you felt cold as you were left unattended and that another bride was also in the shop.
We have since moved to larger premises that are on one floor. We now have all our fitting rooms fitted with air con. We will also be offering private evening appointments so that customers are not disturbed by other brides.
All of our stock gowns are ranging from sizes 10 - 32. We ware unfortunately not able to stock gowns in every size for brides/bridesmaids to try on. This is also the case for accessories. We are given sizing charts for each designer that we stock. Brides, Maids & Men for accessories are measured and the appropriate size is then ordered, this is discussed with all parties involved. We also take into account that customers do loose & gain weight and in that case we have three seamstresses that are on hand to help with any alterations that are needed.
I personally asked that we could see the gown on you as you claimed it was 6-8 inches too big at the bust and waist. I offered to open in the evening to see you and also return the gown to the designer for them to check the sizing and offer a replacement size if indeed it was incorrectly sized. This offer was declined.
Once again apologise for the problems that you experienced with us & Thank you again for pointing out areas of improvement.

The Girls At Amaryllis Couldnt Have Gone Out Of Th
The girls at Amaryllis couldnt have gone out of their way any more than they did! They made me feel so comfortable and made picking my dress such an enjoyable experience! I couldn't fault it in any way, it had been recommended to me by a friend and I would recommend it to anyone.
I had been to many bridal shops in and out of the area and this is by far the best.
The girls all went out of there way to make the whole experience so pleasurable.

I Popped In Not Thinking I'd Find A Dress As I Had
I popped in not thinking I'd find a dress as I had a very modest budget and I am a size 16.
When I arrived the lady went out of her way to ask questions as to what i was after but they had nothing in store for me. She said she'd look in their other store and call her manager. They would call me if anything came up. About an hour later I had a call to my mobile and they had a selection for me to try.
After a lot of helpful advice I decided on a beautiful gown which they sold at the price I was willing to go to.
I was very very happy.

At Amaryllis Bridalwear I experienced friendly, warm service. Lovely ladies.
Its a small boutique shop in a country town where I live. None of the large mass market stuff you get in large chains. This has been around for years and has a great reputation. Good selection of dresses and designers (one being sophia tolli my favourite!)
I felt at home and was no problems popping in when on lunch to have a nose and they sorted my dress and alterations, I got my accessories there and a tiara hand made from a referral. After the wedding they have a service where they will wash and box your dress so you can store it! Nice original yet quite modern traditional wedding shop.
