Awful Money Grabbers With No Consideration For Students.
Where do I start? When I moved into Marybone Phase 2 in Liverpool the first thing i noticed was that when I arrived to collect my keys was a Man and his son where at Reception with the man complaining that there was dried vomit on the carpets of his sons room. Not a good start. I entered my flat and noticed that the shared kitchen area was extremely dirty with burnt food on the hob and breakfast bar, bare in mind I was the first to arrive in the flat. The television did not work either. My personal area, i.e. bedroom and en-suite, was also in a state not suitable to arrive at. The floors hadnt even been hooverd. The desk had chunks of the surface missing and the bathroom tiles, shower, toilet and sink all had mold and limescale. The carpet was also sprayed with paint from the walls and ceiling. I did not complain, however, and I cleaned the areas the best I could. It gets to winter and the rooms become rather cold of a night time due to how thin the walls are, I could hear people having telephone calls, and so for the first time I try the heating system, which is broken. I reported that it was broken but no body came to fix it, in the end I bought my own heater.
In December, I was cooking some sausages and the hallway firealarm was set off, not the kitchen one, the hallway. I was subsequently handed a £50 charge for "misuse of safety equipment". I appealed the charge and nothing else was heard of it until this summer.
In April I had decided to remain at Marybone 2 for the next year and so I put in a new booking through the website and organised with reception to remain for the duration of the summer holidays and also the two weeks from when my old tenancy ended to the beginning of the new one. In July I went on Holiday for 10 days after all the other students had returned home and when I returned I found litter and a ciggarette butt in my sink in the flat which was clearly not mine.
1 Week before the old tenancy was due to end, 20th August 2011, I received a Phone call from Cosmopolitan stating that the buildings where full and no rooms were available for me to stay. I had a week to get together £250 and find somewhere else to move into. Basically they were just kicking me out even if I could not find anywhere else.
Fast forward 4 Weeks to the return of my deposit from Cosmopolitan and I have received only £77 from my original £250. They have charged me £75 for the painting of the room, £20 for the removal of a mini fridge which was there when I moved in, £10 for the removal of 1 bag of rubbish from the communal area, which was completely clean when I left the place, £18 pound for the cleaning of the bathroom which they told me was filthy even though I had cleaned profusely to my own expense and on top of that was the waved £50 fire alarm charge. I urge all students to avoid cosmopolitan as they will do anything to get money out of you.

Be Very Wary Of Renting From Unite, Daughter Had S
Be very wary of renting from Unite, daughter had signed up in the april prior to uni. but hated the course and switched uni - although she spent a little over 2wks in the room we are being persued for the whole amount and threatened with court action as well as having to pay for accomodation in another uni. These are not helpful people if you can ever get to talk to a person that is!!
This is Unite not Cosmopolitan
This review is for unite not Cosmopolitan Student Homes.
