I was expecting this to be a lengthy complicated process, but was absolutely delighted with how easy, straightforward and quick it was. The online form was really quick to fill in, I emailed a query about my personal circumstances and was amazed to be answered about an hour later, made a second query & once again got an almost immediate response, in a very friendly and easy to understand email! The official forms were with me, by post, just 2 days later, and as soon as they are signed & witnessed they are legal - so not even a wait for sending off, processing or confirmation. And all for under £20!!
The peace of mind I now have with the name being legal, not just a 'known as' is tremendous, and to think I put it off for so long worrying about how involved the process would be!
