Sony Bravia KDL-32EX523

I wanted a mid-market 32" TV, which for me means I wanted an LED TV with a few features, e.g. Internet access and viewing/streaming of my audio & pictures from other devices, but I didn't want 3D or top-end quality or advanced features. There was plenty to choose from and lots of reviews saying conflicting things.

I chose the Sony because all reviews spoke highly of its interface and online services, most said it has a good picture and finally because it has the smallest size of all the 32" TVs I looked at. I have been very pleased with the TV. The picture quality is excellent, with realistic colours and none of the motion problems I have seen on LCD TVs in the past. Sound quality is fine through the built-in speakers but I listen to it through my hi-fi which makes the sound excellent. The good range of output connections help that and there are all the HDMI, scart, digital and analogue inputs/outputs I could want; some TVs only had digital audio out but the Sony has an analogue output in addition to its digital output.

The user interface has been very easy to use and I have almost never had to refer to the manual because everything is intuitive and easy to fine. The online services work very well even though we have a mediocre (3MB) broadband speed. BBC iPlayer works faultlessly and I look forward to trying the other services. We have also been exploring the DNLA services and this is proving a great way to view our digital photographs and listen to music. The range of formats supported isn't huge but then there are lots of free DNLA servers than will dynamically convert formats on the fly and without any apparent loss of quality.

At the price we paid (£435, June 2011) I would have been very happy to have a LED TV at this size (it is really surprising how much less space it takes up than our old CRT TV, so is much less dominating in the room) and quality. The additional online and media features really make this a fantastic TV and one I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who wants a mid-price LED TV.
