Tried to juice apples and carrots. Within 3 weeks the motor had burnt out. Brought this from Argos and exchanged it as it was within the 30 days refund 2 more times this happened to different machines. So in all 3 machines all burnt out waste of money. Looking for a different brand that can juice carrots and apples without making my house smell of burnt electrical goods :(

I bought PHILIPS HR1869/30 Avance Juicer product in white earlier this year, used it approximately 10 times and then the motor burnt out. Smoke came pouring out the bottom of the juicer and my kitchen smelt awful for about an hour. I bought it directly from Philips online because I thought they were a large reputable company that would be easier to deal with if I had any problems than an online store. So I called Philips informed them of my problem, they arranged for it to be picked up under the warranty and fixed. A week after it was picked up their operations centre called me to tell me it couldn't be fixed (they had received quite a lot back recently that also couldn't be fixed) and that they couldn't offer me a replacement because they didn't have any and didn't know when they would get any in. At this point I called Philip and agreed to get a refund. From this point to receiving the refund it took just over two months and several phone calls of me chasing them to finally get my money back. Looking on their facebook page and other review sites, I am not the only person to go through this. The product is faulty - so don't waste your money. Buy a cheaper juicer they are much better and a lot less risk.
