Rhayader, Riverside Lodge Guest House

We have just returned from a long weekend stay at Riverside lodge and had a fabulous time. The owners couldn't do enough but also left you alone to enjoy the stay. Breakfast was amazing and both work really hard as a team to serve. Our only fault was the heating system could do with a overhaul as radiators only got hot at the top but really it was not that big of an issue. Give this place a try if you enjoy being looked after. The setting is stunning with a free wildlife experience every morning at breakfast time watching the birds feeding. Thanks very much and we will be back again.

Riverside Lodge Guest House is set in a beautiful location, with charming hosts. It's Bird & Human Paradise. Excellent value for money from this great, friendly, family run guest house. Ooh! What fantastic food too.

My wife and I stayed with our two young children over Easter, and nothing was too much trouble, with them even assisting us with an Easter Egg hunt around the lodge and gardens. hey were also able to recommend restaurants and places of interest both locally and further afield, and they even went to the trouble of providing us with a map. I have no hesitation in recommending the Riverside Lodge Guest House in Rhayader, Wales to friends or others who can appreciate a quiet, relaxed and friendly atmosphere where your needs will be well catered for.

Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience staying at Riverside Lodge Guest House in Rhayader, Wales. The owners were unfriendly and suspicious of us. It is not advisable for young couples, but probably acceptable for older folk.

My family and I have stayed at the Riverside Lodge twice and have never had a bad experience.

Barry and Gill worked very hard to make our stays (in February 2005 and again in November 2005) enjoyable. I gather they took over the B & B after it had been rather neglected by the previous owners and have worked hard to re-establish their reputation.

This they have succeeded. We found them to be very friendly - even at the end of a long season - and went out of their way to point out and advise on areas of interest.

There was a wide selection for breakfast, and as I am a vegetarian, Gill went out of her way to accomodate my diet, buying in vegetarian options and going so far as to cook them seperately.

The view from the breakfast room is to die for, and very distracting! Even though we stayed in the breakfast room far longer after breakfast, enjoying the many birds in the garden and the lambs in the field across the river, this was no problem for Barry and Gill and they joined us bird-watching on one occasion, recommending Gigrins Farm for the Red Kite feeding station. Hardly unfriendly in our view!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stays and have no hesitation in recommending Riverside Lodge to anyone visiting the Elan Valley.

Riverside Lodge Guest House is an ideal location for anyone wishing to walk and bird watch in the Elan Valley area of mid Wales.

Nothing seems to much trouble for the proprietors Gill and Barry.

Plenty of birds to see from the lounge and breakfast room. Local pubs serve good evening meals
