We visited Porto Skala mid July 2014. The hotel is a 20 min walk from the long sandy beach of Skala (there is also a free shuttle bus service offered by the hotel) but also offers a very nice pool and a small rocky beach in front of the hotel, taxi fare to the centre of town is 5 euros any time of day or night. We enjoyed the fresh Greek snacks(tosties & chips) at the pool bar, super large portions and loads of choice, but the evening meals became very repetitive, every thing is cooked and the put into loads of olive oil/sauce, all Greek traditional food with only plain pasta & bread chicken on the bone if you are fussy, breakfast was all you expect at any hotel, bacon egg sausage etc cold meat, toast cereals and cakes. amazing sea views from our room.free wifi in all the common areas of the hotel (including the pool). A big thank you to all the staff of the hotel who made our holiday wonderful with their smiles and politeness. we were AI loads of soft drink fruit juices coke fanta water beer ice cream, but the alcohol was a very limited choice, vodka, gin, brandy white rum etc over all its not 4* as they sell it at, 3 at the most but it is super clean, and every member of staff will go out of their way to help you, a fantastic location outside of town but it is on a hill and you will have to walk up steps to get to your room, the higher the room number the higher you have to climb (they take your luggage for you on a trolley), we never had any problems getting back from skala after a night out the taxi rank is on the beach front, average cost of a meal out: starters 2-6, mains 6-25, deserts 3-5, local wine carafe 6-8 beer from 2 1/2 euros .
