We were not sure what to expect when we booked, it Our room did not resemble any of the pictures we saw on trip advisor. The room we stayed in was very tired, really small and you needed to be athletic to get into bed! We had to climb into bed from the foot end. Now you may think that we should have expected this as it is a railway carriage,.

Having spoken to the manager about the ill fitting curtains, I spent 45 minutes letting the curtains out as they did not fit the windows. They were also thread bare. We had to hang clothes and towels on the ends of the curtains rails as you could see in. People leaving the hotel could see us in bed. When we returned to the hotel at 23.00 the place was all closed down. Then discovered no tv controller so had to take the one from the bar.

The carpet was dirty, felt we needed slippers on our feet, the mattress was really lumpy with no mattress protector.

Shower had the previous occupants shower gel in, + mouldy grouting. I am not sure if the managers family were staying but there seemed to be random elderly ladies all over.

On a plus the water was hot, room was warm and the passing trains did not cause any problems. Watching them pass whilst eating breakfast was a novelty.

The breakfast was OK, day 2 was better. The breakfast waiter was attentive but on both days they were still setting up after 8am when guests were already waiting.

The last minute deal was a good price but would not stay here again unless it's had a face lift.
