A Great Place To Go For A Relax For A Week, Taba I

A great place to go for a relax for a week, Taba is in the middle of nowhere and the airport is awful.

Not much to do in Taba, so if you want action go to Sharm.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Hyatt Regency Hotel In Taba Is Perfect For A R

The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Taba is perfect for a relaxing holiday. Make sure you get your Visa from the tour rep at the airport when you land if you plan to travel to Cairo - £10 plus £5 handling fee.

Do the 2 day Cairo trip through Longwood at the hotel for £105 each. It is really good. Although it is a 6 hour coach ride, which is a bit hard.

I'm planning to go again next March/April time as I enjoyed it so much!

I Was A Little Apprehensive About Going To Egypt P

I was a little apprehensive about going to Egypt prior to departing given the recent bombings in Dahab, but upon arrival I realised there was no need to have been worried. Security was excellent - lots of security checks on the way to the hotel and back to the airport again. The Hyatt Regency was a great hotel - the best in Taba from what we could see, and this was also the opinion of the the locals there. The accommodation and hotel staff were fantastic. Taba is about a 6 hour bus journey from Cairo, so we didn't see the pyramids and usual tourist attractions, but there were enough activities in Taba to keep us entertained for 2 weeks. The hotel is very spread out, so even at peak times it felt quiet and relaxed.

I would recommend it to anyone who asked, and a great time is guaranteed. This hotel would make me keen to stay at other Hyatt hotels in the future.

Just Returned From A Week At The Hyatt Regency Tab

Just returned from a week at the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights in Egypt. Had a great time and couldn't really fault anything. The location, the food, the cleanliness, the service - I could not believe that 1 man alone (the man who cleaned our room every day) could be so tidy!! He left everything perfectly in its place! Folded clothes, and made the beds to perfection. I also highly recommend anyone going there to apply for a Gold Hyatt Passport online beforehand, as this gives you lots of discounts which come in very useful when it comes to paying your bill at the end of your holiday, and also includes a room upgrade. We stayed in a Lagoon Room which was great, spacious, and with lovely views.

Hi. It is best to email the hotel (via the Hyatt website) & tell them your booking details & give them your Hyatt membership card no so they can arrange room upgrades (request a sea view or lagoon room in your email). Also we took a few $1 dollar (US) to give out as tips to staff. When you pay your bill at the end of your stay for extras it will show in US dollars ($), however we also took some bottles of wine & beer with us as wine there apparently tastes like vinegar! Have a great time!

paulinekay

Hello, I read your comments with interest. We are going to stay at the Hyatt in early June, I have been on to the internet and downloaded 3 Gold Cards (there will be three adults) How do we get a free room upgrade? Also what else can we get? Can you also tell me, if we book drinks/food etc. down to our rooms, what is the best by to pay for them ie credit card, sterling or euros, I have even heard that it could be best to take US dollars, can you help? Thanks

Gina Hughes

Hi, their website is:- http://taba.regency.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/

or if you look on Google website & enter Taba Heights Hyatt Regency it will direct you in that direction. Hope you have a great time! It really is a nice place.

paulinekay

Thanks for the review, we have had our accommodation changed and we are going there in 6 weeks time. Where will I find the Hyatt website? what do I do, I am not very PC literate. Can you help?

We Are Planning Our 4th Holiday In 3 Years At The

We are planning our 4th holiday in 3 years at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

We have no complaints about the staff of the hotel - however the tour operators did leave our luggage behind on our Ciaro excursion therefore we missed out on Khal-elkhaliki (Ancient Bazzar) - making the journey across the desert one which we would have rather done without, although the museum was interesting, it was a hurried tour and not worth the bother. (Best to book a seperate holiday destination and not combine)

The bedding and ALL our towels were changed DAILY. We found even the pool towels to be of good clean quality. The house teams were truly co-operative and faultless in their approach to cleanliness & tidiness. (Tho' good tips help)

Our requests were treated with the utmost respect. We were treated to VIP treatment including cocktails at the presidential suite. Our child who is now 9 was adored by all the staff, and clearly missed when we returned for a break for just the 2 of us 8 months later. (The Egyptians appear to have good memories)

The entertainment is mostly culterual but exciting. Karaokee is a good way to break the ice with other guests if you are that way inclined :-) The Beduin nights are a great experience and the beduin people are friendly and mostly leave you alone. The camel rides are fun. Diving school teams could brush up on their manners a bit.

The mountains reduce the amount of sunshine warmth from c.4pm in the winter months, but that's a good time to make use of the on site facilities.

The local wine (table) leaves much to be desired, and so best to stick with bottled water which is cheap to buy. We found it a good idea to take a bottle of scotch with us as one can not easily get spirits locally.

Snorkling is great and a good inspirational way to temp one into becoming a scuba diver.

If you are looking for a relaxing break away from hustle & bustle, then this is for you. The on site entertainment is largly what you make it, although the entertainments team will rope you into pool activities if you are not careful :-)

We certainly recommend this destination.

First Of All Before You Go Make Sure You Sign Up F

First of all before you go make sure you sign up for the HYATT GOLD PASSPORT on the Hyatt Regency Hotel Website.

Just returned from a week at the Hyatt. Had a truly fantastic time. Worries about moody staff, unclean rooms, cockroaches and ants proved totally unfounded. I wonder why people make this stuff up?! - I'm very well travelled and this is my 5th time in Egypt staying in the best hotels and this one is up there with the best of them. However not quite as good as the Hyatt in Sharm El Sheikh but is certainly comparable! - We went for a room upgrade as we didn't have the best of views with the first room they gave us. We paid $180US for an upgrade to a lagoon room and we had the best room in the hotel except for the Presidential Villa! Should anyone want to do the same as us make sure you get room G220! On one side you had a view of the lagoon and straight in front you had views right out over the sea. In fact the room made our holiday! And we thought it was cheap at the price we paid.

Sure, the food could have done with a little more variety, but what there was was cooked well and even if you didn't like the main restaurant there was others to choose from.

The staff were excellent, all were friendly in fact some of them overly so! - Didn't bother with most of the reception staff but should you find yourself needing one of them, make sure you choose Mohammed.

I do however have two gripes! Prices of drinks and food were expensive, We found ourselves going into the casino and playing blackjack just to get cheap drinks! The second was the entertainment, was pretty dire and boring! However, overall, if your looking for a peaceful week, with fantastic weather, good food and your in already in good company there is nowhere better.

Hi, we are going to the Hyatt in 6 weeks time, Airtours cancelled our original hotel Grand Azure LTI in Sharm all inclusive, with no reason for doing it except they are no longer dealing with the Grand LTI!! We could only get in at the Hyatt for half board. What do you mean by expensive food and drinks? As we are not only half board, is it going to cost us an arm and leg to have a few (or even more than a few) Also is the snorkling good? How far is the walk to the beach? Please anything you can tell us will help. We are a little bit anxious as we nothing about Taba, is it as good as good as the other resorts? Please help, any advise will be much appreciated

Taba, Hyatt Regency Hotel - This Hotel Is Really D

Taba, Hyatt Regency Hotel - This hotel is really disappointing. I would not return here either for business or pleasure.

I would not recommend it - irrespective of how little you may have paid - and there really are some cheap offers available for this hotel! I conclude the cheap deals are in part because of the terrorist incident at the Hilton Taba last year, and in part because the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights is truly appalling!

The 'Hyatt' brand, highly regarded the world over, is seriously let down by this poor quality and inferior service at this hotel.

The hotel claims to be 5 star. Having personally travelled extensively on business and pleasure I am well versed with the variations that exist in ratings from one country to another. Having stayed at both the Hyatt Regency in Sharm and the Ritz Carlton in Sharm within the last 12 months I feel adequately qualified to say that the 5 star rating for the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights is a mistake. It should not be rated above 3 stars!

The food was so poor that we and several other guests, during our stay this last week (June 2005), choose to eat at the nearby Marriott! The hotel management at the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights - especially the front desk manager tended towards 'hostile' and 'unhelpful'. Certainly not what one would expect.

If you have not yet booked to stay at the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights please consider the following and then make an informed choice:

The rooms, whilst large(ish) are not clean. The furniture is so inferior that grade school children can manufacture better quality fittings. There were streams of ants, in part because room-service trays sat deposited outside the rooms - sometimes for days, before being cleared. The beds are so soft that within three days we resorted to putting the mattress on the floor for a better night's sleep. The food in the restaurant is so poor (if you like canteen style and quality food - you will be fine). If your expectations are more than pizza or salad - I am afraid that like ourselves you will come away hungry and having lost weight! You simply cannot get a gin and tonic delivered to your room - you are the guest, yet are told to walk up to the bar!!! Their towels (for the truly dreadful sunbeds) do not look like they have ever been washed. Grey is not a particularly attractive colour for towels or bedding! Some staff were truly grumpy. It is difficult to keep motivated, I would imagine, when you are working in such hot conditions and for such low wages - but when you find one (or two) staff who are smiling, cheerful and who genuinely want to help, you realise that the communication skills and customer care skills of the vast majority at this hotel are truly POOR - especially so the management! Twice we ran out of toilet paper - an oversight maybe - but in a five star hotel? And let's just hope that you do not want marmalade with your breakfast - the hotel had 'none' - apparently - until we said that we would buy some from the Marriott or the Sofitel - then miracles occured - we had marmalade the next morning!

As I believe is appropriate - if you are unhappy about something (and for that matter if you are happy about something) you should make the management aware. I did make the management aware of my concerns and disappointment - as did a significant number of others (apparently). Nothing changed - and in fact the front desk manager was so particularly unfriendly when I checked out (to both me and other guests) that I will be letting the Gold Passport scheme managers know of this issue too!

On the plus side: there are numerous pools - and lots of space for laying out in a different spot everyday - if you wish. And the air conditioning was effective in the rooms. And that is all I could find to say on a positive side.

I am a Hyatt Gold Passport member (frequent user scheme) and will NOT recommend this hotel to friends, colleagues or clients. Do heed my advice and AVOID THIS ONE!!!

I really do not agree with this, must have improved a hell of a lot since you have been. Wonderful place, yes their was a few ants but what do you expect in a 40+ degree dessert?

ahowlett

Look the author of this review (rodaway) said that this hotel was no good, and so do I. Great you have a different opinion! Point made.

J2daLeigh

Yes, quite right - the purpose of the sight is to put an honest opinion across so people can make the best choice for their holiday in the future. That is exactly why I have responded to your quite negative review - so that people have another opinion. It must have improved since your visit.

ahowlett

The purpose of this site is to share reviews and experiences good and bad - NOT to simply pass judgement on other's opinions.

The hotel was, in our opinion, overall poor. The food was not 5 star, the service was disappointing and the hotel generally unclean.

J2daLeigh

Totally disagree with your review. We have just come back from a fortnight at the Hyatt Regency in Taba (June 2006) and had a wonderful time. The hotel staff were top notch and whilst I agree that the food was perhaps not 5 star (but definetly no less than 3.5 star) the accomodation was immaculate and exceptionally clean. The sun loungers were great, and pool towels so clean you could smell the washing powder. A wonderful all round experience.
