I am really sorry to hear about all the problem horses sold by these guys but just had to write to tell you about my experience with them. I went looking for a cheap happy hacker and chose a mare called Cilla, now Blossom and paid £1600 for her. Bloss had only just been broken at 9, that was obvious, but as a relatively experienced rider that did not put me off. I have now had 3 years with my 'pocket rocket' who has turned out to be a brilliant pony with not a mean bone in her body. I am not connected in any way to Farrington's but thought I should put another side to the story. They are not all bad.

After a very bad personal experience dealing with these people I feet other people should be warned. I brought about two years ago what I was told a quiet happy hacker ideal for a novice getting back into riding. From the day it was delivered the nightmare started. The horse turned out to be the total opposite from when i trialed him at their yard. The horse was returned and i was promised a refund or a replacement, Neither of which materialised so i took them to the small claims court and won my case. I came into contact with other people who were also claiming their money back. After a lot of perseverance I have regained most of the money owed, but there is still money outstanding. If you are going through a similar situation with these people don't give up.

I think in all fairness

I too was ripped off by these people and it seems very funny that you have a lot to say on these dealers when you have no personal experience of them yourself. I wonder if one of the Farrington crew put you up to it or are you even one one of the Farringtons. Keep your bloody nose out out of situations you know nothing about.

I have just purchased my first little 13.2hh for my grand daughter who is totally delighted our mare is just as described the staff were so helpful and they didn't seem to mind the numerous visits and questions that we made. We feel that our purchase was just perfect and totally worth every penny as she is just as they described her an ideal family cob she passed her vetting with flying colours and was even reshoed upon purchase can't recommend highly enough.

i brought a horse from farringtons a few weeks ago was the best thing i ever did! I was told to go there by a friend who had also purchased her horse from there. the best family cob we could of hoped for and was exactly as decribed on the phone, the staff was very friendly and understood myself and my daughters needs to the letter. I would recommend anyone to go here I will definetly be visiting a second time!

Horses need to be worked with and generally handled to be assessed correctly and matched to the right owner. We bought what we thought was a nice placid easy to handle horse and tried to work with her but we could not win. The only way to pick her feet up to get the farrier to be able to trim them was with a vet to give 2 lots of shots before the farrier - who is excellent - could get near her rears. The advisor offered to take her back and 'exchange her' the only way to get him by phone is to keep ringing on a different phone each time as the original number shows who the caller is and he wont speak to you if he is aware of any issue...We were told a month ago that there were no sutable horses to exchange for ..... strange that! After reading other reviews I have sold the horse and for peanuts because of the on going problem, and have bought a lovely horse from elsewhere. If you are lucky enough to buy a horse from them with out problems, that's lucky!! This horse didn't just have a few problems she is dangerous and certainly should not be anywhere near young children. We considered court action because she was not 'fit for purpose' but I just wanted the whole sad story to end... So, Buyer beware and as for the 'yes you can exchange' - there wont be that option in reality which is odd when all they deal with is safe family cobs. My farrier and vet are appauled and the family are very unhappy. If you are thinking of buying a horse my advice has to be look elsewhere or be aware of the potential problems..... One very unhappy buyer - lucky to still have limbs in tact!

Buyer beware, i had a horse from Farrington's a while ago i had dealings with the owners who seemed nice enough people but turned out to be a pair of rip offs. Mt horse was totally unsuitable so phoned them at 1st they couldn't car less then eventually agreed to take it back and find me a new one, i water months and nothing no horse no money and it appears this is there pattern. I have been left with nothing but wish someone would give these people what they deserve anyone thinking if buying from these people STAY AWAY.

Hi, I purchased a horse of these people and it has turned out to be totally unsuitable. They are unwilling to discuss and have issue court proceeding to get my money back. Do not trust them or you will be in the same boat as me.

I to bought a horse from these people, it was ment to be suitable for a novice but that was far from the truth it bolted off with me leaving me on a busy road with a dislocated arm i just thank god i did not put my small children on this animal as that was what it was intended for a family horse. I contacted them and they couldn't care less so was forced to sell the horse at a loss to myself. I understand that him and his wife have separated she is selling horses to people that are also unsafe and he continues to screw people over buyers beware of both of them she runs under MTF horses and he still runs under Farringtons horses.

I can sympathize as we had a similar problem. I have lost alot of money and had a very difficult year with the horse that we were sold. They are unscrupulous people who are interested in a fast turnover of horses. They took a haflinger in as a part ex that was a nightmare, we had considered her as an 'exchange' horse to replace the mare sold to us but when we saw it in the yard it was obvious the previous owner had put it with them as it has problems-wouldn't take a bridle and bucked the stable hand off big time!!! We sold our difficult horse ourselves, for very little money, these folk do not take enough time to fully assess their horses they have one priority and thats MONEY. They are bad news.........

I bought a horse from Farringtons last year, it was stated in the description she was a confidence giver etc, but unfortunately turned out to be a bucking bronco!, so we sent her back. We also realised she had had a foal recently weaned off her shortly before buying which our vet confirms, although we were told she had had a foal they failed to inform us exactly when despite being asked several times - we never got a straight answer and that remains a fact to this day. 9 months on we're still waiting for a suitable horse, phone calls, texts and emails are ignored by them, even when we do get through on the rare occasion there's always an excuse, changing phone contracts, phone broken, not working etc, amongst other things. we originally bought this horse as suitable for our children,( none older than 9), they were happy to state she was safe and a confidence giver, after her bucking bronco episode we couldn't allow our children near her. I'm only writing this to inform people this company cannot be trusted and to think twice before purchasing from them. We're not saying do not buy from them but be very careful and check everything thoroughly. We are now so fed up we are pressing ahead with the next step, they can't ignore the courts.

hi.
There are a number of people that have now successfully taken these people to court and won. This is the only way to deal with these people. If you need any advice then feel free to contact me and ill help.

Hi, Thanks for your offer of advice, these people are quite unbelievable, they knew this was a present for our kids and still they act in this disgraceful manner ,I've sent them a letter by stating if nothing is resolved within 28 days we're taking them to court.
I would strongly advise people to think twice before dealing with these people

Hi,
Please ensure that you list all the people involved in running Farringtons Coloured Horses as this will increase your chance of getting payment. Also depending when you purchased your problem horse it may be worth adding the ltd company down that he has opened......

At least those of us in the 'We have problems' camp are now speaking up - time will catch up with them and their reputation is spreading. Just hope no more people get hurt. Please let us know the result of your case

I paid a deposit and the horse I agreed to buy failed it's 2 stage vetting due to lameness. That was 10 days ago and still no sign of the money, I have made formal demand on them so I hope that I don[t gave to take them to the small claims court and report them to Trading Standards, We shall see.

How did you get on? I have been trying to get a hold of them for ages now to get my money back.

I have had a number of problems with this company since purchasing my horse. I would recommend finding another dealer as these people can not be trusted and mis-describe their horses.
Written on: 10/08/2013
I agree with you I would recommend people to go else where. It sound we have had the same problems with this company. The worst thing about it they knew the pony was for a kid... I could go on and on but it makes me feel sick how they can get away with it.

I went to farringtons coloured cobs as a rider who had lost my nerve and needed something rock steady and bomb proof to try and regain some of it. The staff there, particularly [name removed], were so helpful and kind and made completely sure that I bought the right cob for me. They also give you a guarantee where you can return the horse within a suitable time limit if it turns out to be not what they say, however, I was astonished to read that someone is 'taking them to the small claims court' but didn't explain why. All of their cobs are rideen out on the main road and under the railway bridge and are more or less bomb proof - you only need to read the many happy 'testimonials' on their web site. I have recommended Farringtons to many of my horsey friends and those who have ourchased have also been delighted with the horse purchased and the warm welcome and openness of [name removed] and her team. I did not pay a fortune for my cob, however she is worth a fortune to me and compared with other web sites all of their horses are well priced.

Farringtons do not give a guarantee at all. Check out there website it clearly stated its your problem if the horse if not what we said. I would not trust them as far as i could throw them.
Written on: 19/03/2013
There are no guarantees with anything in life and know that they do exchange if the horse is not what they say. I had a horse from them a year ago and he has proved to be a real gentle, loving cob. I think with all animals it takes time for horses to settle and for you to bond with your horse some people expect this to happen overnight. I have had a good experience with Farrington's and would not hesitate to recommend them. All companies have good and bad feed back my advice is make your own mind up.
Written on: 05/10/2013
I also agree that it take time for horses to settle in but you only have to read the reviews on this site and a number of others, the people who have good horses which you could count on one hand got lucky the rest of the people that got a rubbish deal and left with horses that have been bought from a sale and broken quickly then sold as confidence givers are no so lucky. This dealer should not be selling horses they dont care for them and they dont care who gets them children, grannies people with nervous issues they just want your money. Good luck to who ever buys one you gonna need it.

This company will carry on ripping people of like myself even thou i won my court case they still owe me money which is looking like i will never get back. Just hope that no one gets seriously hurt or even worst killed from being sold a totally unsuitable horse or pony . I have also spoken to trading standards as these people need to be stopped!

sorry about that, but in the good old days, we went and rode the the horse, vet, checked it, and did everything else, to assure a safe horse. who in there right mind is gonna "order a horse' WITHOUT RIDING IT, SEEING IT, ETC..that is plain ignorance or your part. You don't jus take the word of someone else and buy something without a test drive. maybe next time you people want a horse, you will do your homework and make sure the hose is something that your daughter can handle or that she can't. not everyone is at the same riding level. Yes, they may have decieived you, but you fell fo it. When I buy a horse, I ty and get a video first, if possible, study the video, send it ouit to a professional of that breed, and go from there. Hell, thre is a horse I want in Selah, but you think im jus gonna order it and have it elivered to me without driving all the way there and riding it myself. I don't think so. WAKE UP!!

In response to your comment i did drive all the way and look and ride the horse myself as the horse was for me as i don't have any children. I certainly would never "order a horse" as you put it. So how you can say thats "plain ignorance on my part" when you know nothing apart from the comment i left. Am not quite sure what your agenda is. Yes the dealer did deceive me but i wasn't the only person they deceived.
