“Good experience”

★★★★☆

written by on 16/07/2023

It's quite sophisticated due to the use of the Canvas interface and the tutors are approachable and helpful. The assignments could be more like examination questions instead they are pretty basic and require a lot of self study to bridge the difficulty gap but overall if the program is followed diligently it will set a great conceptual foundation in the subject chosen.

“Excellent Education Provider”

★★★★★

written by KaylanA on 21/02/2023

Both my children were enrolled with Wolsey (Grade 9 and IGCSE) during the pandemic for two years. I can only speak highly of the professionalism and exceptional level of education and support Wolsey provided. The study material is very well structured and organised. Support manager and tutors are providing great help and are responding very fast. We were super impressed with everything! Thank you so much helping my children to succeed in their studies and gain valuable experience to be independent learners.

“Violated education guidelines and laws”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Yatesuc331 on 16/01/2023

Student progress manager violated guidelines and for no mistake of primary student canceled their admission. She basically wants parents who listen to all her unreasonable demands. She should be terminated foe violating the education laws "that under any circumstances admission cannot he denied or canceled as per right to education act. PRINCIPAL supported her wrong deeds. She sets also contradicts the rules of the school ,she pressurised parents and student with timetable, even though assignments say no due dates, also while it's a home schooling programme and final decision makers are parents on how to take through the course completion.

Why is our name necessary inorder to take action I can give you the student progress managers name, I have not given my name is because of avoiding any aggressive reactions from your student progress manager which according to me may be natural .

“Online learnin g with Wolsey Hall Oxford”

★★★★★

written by AngelaSalisbury on 04/10/2022

Excellent school! From the minute you inquire to the final assessments, they assist you professionally and in a very friendly manner throughout every step. At first we where unsure about online studying but after reading, researching and inquiring with various providers, we where most happy to proceed with enrollment with Wolsey Hall. I have found the teachers to be excellent, and very 'present' each time my child needed support, and all in all I think online studying has helped my child to become more organised with her studies, her time and above all her self-belief. I highly recommend studying with Wolsey Hall.

“A great experience”

Wolsey Hall is for us exactly what we needed to start schooling on our own with our daughter. We got all the help we needed, the tutor was always available for any inquiries, the lesson plans were on spot so it made it easy for us to be teachers and explain everything in a manner that our daughter understands. In all, a great experience if you want to try homeschooling.

“Mostly great classes and instructors”

★★★★☆

written by MaddoxBond on 18/07/2022

Due to the pandemic, we switched to online learning and have been mostly pleased with Wolsey Hall. Our children have been able to work at their own pace, move ahead in grade level and study the material that interests them. We are also able to travel full time now as we can do schooling remotely. We have experienced a mix of quality in the instructors and course materials. For the most part, teachers provide detailed and lengthy feedback, which is positive and constructive. In general, we have found the Lower Secondary Courses to be better organised and structured than the Upper Primary ones. Overall the courses are thorough and a quality education.

“Amazing Support from Experienced Teachers”

★★★★★

written by biswaketan on 01/06/2022

The pandemic has left behind uncountable stories, many negatives yet some positives. One one such positive note - Had the pandemic not hit us, I could not have shifted to online education for my daughter. Wolsey Hall Oxford is such an amazing experience for us. They have a proven system and processes, combined with very experienced and passionate teachers. My daughter enormously gained from 2 years of online studies with Wolsey Hall Oxford. She secured all A* in her IGCSE exams. I am more than happy to write positive reviews for Wolsey Hall Oxford so that other students can be benefitted.

“Excellent Homeschool”

★★★★★

written by Gallagherdn29 on 16/05/2022

This is our second year with Wolsey Hall. My children and I are really pleased with every aspect of the school. All the lessons are well-organized and you know exactly what you should be doing. Children work in real books and assignments are submitted to real qualified teachers who give very detailed feedback. My children's teachers have always been available to Skype or zoom when my children needed extra support. Everything is overseen by a student progress manager who makes sure everyone is staying on track. There are even clubs that hold monthly meetings and share projects. My children loved seeing the other Wolsey Hall students from around the world. In our country we have to have a portfolio review with the local education authority, they said they have seen a lot of different homeschool programs and this is one of the best and most rigorous they have seen. If you need to homeschool for whatever reason, I would highly recommend Wolsey Hall.

“Great UK curriculum and lovely teachers”

★★★★★

written by 242Bird on 01/04/2022

We started the Wolsey Hall programme in September and are very happy. We had individual Zooms with the subject teachers to meet them and they all seem lovely. Teacher responses via email and course coordinator contact is all very good. Replies are speedy and always with good information. The books and information packs were all sent out quickly once we had decided to enroll and it is clear that Wolsey Hall have thought carefully about their textbook choices. The textbooks are clear and easy to follow in chronological order. The easiest to use textbooks for Year 8, in our opinion, are French, History, English and Geography. The Science and mathematics ones are also clear but we sometimes add a few of our own videos or resources to boost alongside these. The Wolsey Hall website is very easy to navigate and the module resources and assignment tasks match up perfectly with the textbook topics. We do use some extra help at home but generally for our secondary age boy, this is a very straightforward curriculum to operate independently. We have compared the resources and objectives with other private schools and are very satisfied with what Wolsey Hall has created. It is certainly in line with British expectations and we have really been impressed with the content. Thank you to all the lovely teachers at Wolsey Hall that have made Year 8 so interesting. We have really enjoyed home-schooling using this system and think it is excellent value for money.

“Best Homeschooling ever!”

★★★★★

written by AlexiaVieira on 30/03/2022

My 3 daughters are students at Wolsey Hall and have had the opportunity to fit in perfectly with the educational system. Wolsey is a flexible and very caring school. Every person involved in the enrollment and education process has a high level of friendliness. The class system is designed organically. Everything is related to each other. The content and format are ideal for my daughters, each one of them is different, and yet they are perfectly comfortable in their learning process. I recommend Wolsey Hall to families who are looking for love in their children's educational process, creativity, flexibility and yet excellence and self-responsibility.

“Not value for money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Annoymus15 on 01/12/2021

No structure as you have to do it yourself. I did year 8 and the maths was even easier than south african CAPS currclum. Aim of choosing WH was to cover the gaps but my gaps were not covered up. Either my grandma would work on an assignment with me or I would do the work with premade ressources and youtube, not enough support. The french course was even worse as there were no youtube videos or material supporting the book. The teachers only marked your assignment and gave limited feedback, I would like to know why you call yourself online when there are no lessons at all. No tests or exams to check your progress, towards july after failing on shakespeare which you guessed it was not taught, I relised that i couldnt work on my own without being monitered and an enviornment that felt like school. My new school also uses canvas. you guys just brag about your environment when other schools use the same technology too. Enough said you are not a proper school you are distance learning. our mistake for beliving that you would give good online quality like brick and motor schools. even worse than a public/ private mainstream school!

Thank you for your feedback.

I’m sorry to hear that the Wolsey Hall system of supported, independent learning was not suitable for you. You are correct in saying there are no online classes- this is made very clear on our website and throughout the enrolment process. Our courses are designed specifically for home schooling students and draw upon a wealth of resources: textbooks, videos, interactive activities, and worksheets. The French course uses several additional resources including Kerboodle, with self-marking activities so students can check their progress, and Language Nut to enable students to develop their language competencies. When it comes to our tutors, I would have to disagree with you. Feedback is always detailed, encouraging and received in a timely manner. Tutors will highlight what the student has done well in addition to providing areas for improvement that students can work on for their next assignment. Tutors are also always available to answer specific questions via email at any point during the course.

Our system of Homeschooling works extremely well for the vast majority of students but it’s clear, in this instance, that it did not work as well for you.

“Highly Recommended!”

written by BevDupont on 11/10/2021

I live in South Africa and my daughter started her IGCSEs with Wolsey Hall in October 2020 after enjoying online learning with her high school during the Covid-19 lockdown. So far, she has sat 5 of her 6 IGCSE subjects in May/June 2021 and did very well gaining 5 A*s. She has also now started her A Levels with Wolsey Hall. We have both been very impressed with Wolsey Hall: the quality of resources available on Canvas (WH's online platform), and the tutor feedback and support have been excellent. I would highly recommend Wolsey Hall to a student who is responsible and hardworking. Doing homeschooling requires lots of motivation and self-discipline, but if you have this, then Wolsey Hall would be a fantastic choice!

written by Thalia205 on 07/10/2021

Wolsey Hall is one of the best online schools that I came across. Not only are my two younger children doing their studies with Wolsey now, but It was the place I did my IGCSE English 11yrs ago! The lessons are well planned and are easy to follow. After each assignment feedback is given so to check where improvements can be made. The teachers are very helpful and available to answer any difficult questions. Both my children are enjoying and thriving. We sure are going all the way with Wolsey Hall.

“quite satisfied until the results day ”

★★★☆☆

written by Stel.L on 14/09/2021

I would have put more stars last years as my daughter was so happy with Wolsey. She left her previous independent school for home study as she loves learning by herself and she wanted to study some subjects that wasn't offered to her there. She likes the Canvas online environment and her progress manager was very professional . As suggested by Wolsey, She sat early three of her IGCSEs to have less the second year. Unfortunately, our exams in England were cancelled . My daughter opted for deferred the exams since, she sat in November 2020 three of her IGCSs and achieved great grades 9,8,8 . My daughter is a conscientious student who is very academic and hardworking she had worked so hard for these grades ,she felt pleased and so proud of herself . For the five other IGCSEs that she was supposed to sit in June 2021, she had two options: sit online exams using her webcam with the centre she was registered with or sit her end of year exam with Wolsey and use her tutor grades. My Mistake was to trust the school. Unfortunately as a family, we feel that her efforts have been compromised due to the misjudgement of her tutors and those involved in the moderation of academics. Having not missed a single assignment, nor opportunity to improve her grades, the school has not exercised good judgement, nor put the best interests of my daughter at the forefront of their assigning of grades. We have been told using different reasoning that my daughter’s end of year assignment was not an accurate reflection of her ability in History, however in the opinion of the tutor, a one off lower mark from her consistent average is. Concerns ranging from *unfounded* plagiarism to not being in her best interests have been used to justify this, and this was told to me by the exam Centre after talking of the possibility of an appeal (never admitted by the school) .Not only does this call into question our academic integrity in monitoring her performance, it is confusing and unfair to my daughter to not have a consistent and correct justification. For a child who has had to perform in difficult circumstances, this is unfair and frankly appalling on the part of the school. We are extremely angry and frustrated. She Has covered all the curriculum by herself the tutors only review the assignments and can answer questions. I would never imagine that a "homeschool" institute could have such a low esteem of their students. I do believe she had proven her ability to progress and to achieve however, her results days in 2021 was a nightmare. We have thought about the possibility of an appeal sadly that would be worthless as the school itself will reconsidering or not if a misjudgment had been done which ,in our opinion , is biased .

Hi,

We would be the first to acknowledge that your daughter is a top student. In addition to the grades to which you refer she was awarded strong passing grades in the subjects she took in the May exams.

We did advise you back in May on the procedures for lodging an appeal with your exam centre if you were unhappy with any of the results, and your Progress Manager urged you to appeal on 24 August. This is still an option open to you until Monday 20th September by just contacting your exam centre.

Your daughter’s results are excellent in the main by any standards and are more than good enough to enable her to move on to the A levels of her choice. You should be proud of her achievement under the difficult circumstances prevailing. We certainly are.

Best wishes

I had contacted the centre about a possible appeal. However, after reading the relevant appeal documentation that the centre provided, it was evident that there was no guarantee that the grade would be uplifted I subsequently received an email from the examination officer explaining the procedure which determined the grades which students were to receive and clearly within that email contained a false document about my daughter history evidence. It means that I will incur cost in fighting against this decision and placing my daughter in a situation which will increase her stress levels at a time where she has already been through significant distress. I am please that you have acknowledged that she is a very academically able student. I am grateful, though it is a little disappointing this has been said now, given the situation at hand. I have always been proud of her and I do not need any particular grades to back that up. I am sure you know how teenagers can be mentally fragile and how a such situation could have a huge impact on them. She left her independant school as a student in the highest set in history and according your tutor she deserved a 5 at her IGSCE when the overall weight of her assignments does not reflect this. I think you could imagine how unfair and hurtful that could have been for her. I understand your sentiments and agree that it is a lot to be persisting with this when she has good enough grades to progress with her A Level studies, but that is not the matter at hand here. She has cried for days, especially your academic decision has made difficult for her to pursue the study of history beyond GCSE without feeling capable. She has felt that out of all the subjects she has studied and all the tutors she has interacted with, only her English tutor has holistically considered her progression and hard work. It had been a difficult moment in her life and as a mum I want to alleviate this as much as possible. My review is not to pursue a further appeal or to allow her the opportunity to resit it exams, rather it serves to discuss how you have disregarded your student . we discovered via the centre that you have accused my daughter of "plagiarism" without any discussion or any explanation. How can I appeal when a matter as serious as this has not been explored further with myself and my daughter.

“Best decision I made in 2020!”

★★★★★

written by ProfW on 18/03/2021

I decided to homeschool my 8 year old in 2020 after her school was closed for the pandemic. I chanced on Wolsey Hall in homeschooling forums and saw that it had good reviews. I contacted them and they were super responsive. We formally started with Wolsey in Jan 2021 and my daughter loves it. the platform is easy to use and the work is pitched just right for us. My daughter rates it as the best school she has ever attended. I am so glad we found Wolsey Hall, I am a working mum and I never imagined I could homeschool, but Wolsey Hall makes it relatively easy to homeschool. I have already recommended it to my friends and one family has signed up. The school is also very cost effective.

“IGCSE Latin at Wolsey Hall”

★★★★★

written by on 14/01/2021

We chose Wolsey Hall for our Daughter’s IGCSE Latin as her school didn’t offer the subject. She was able to tailor the timeframe to suit and chose to complete the course in six months along side her first year of A Levels. The professional and highly supportive online tutors helped her whenever she needed and provided detailed feedback on all her work. We have been impressed by the friendly and knowledgeable staff and were grateful when they steered us through last summer’s grading process that was obviously an unknown to all of us. This week our Daughter has been offered a place at the University of Oxford and the A grade she earned at Wolsey proved invaluable.

“Fabulous Professional Independent Education”

★★★★★

written by ClaireLJ on 31/10/2020

Having removed our daughter from mainstream education we needed trustworthy professional support and guidance through the minefield of GCSE coursework. Wolsey Hall more than fulfilled this role. From the moment we made contact with our fabulous Student Progress Manager we knew we weren't alone. The tutors Wolsey Hall provided were all incredibly conscientious and supportive, providing excellent and thorough feedback on assignments together with other supporting links to examples as and when needed. Despite the problems that have sadly befallen many home educators this year due to Covid with exam grading, Wolsey Hall were once again there, providing information and guidance, and all the supportive evidence and feedback needed to gain the justified GCSE grades that our daughter had worked so hard, with her tutors, to achieve. I can't praise Wolsey Hall highly enough, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to home educate their family.

“Top Tutoring at Wolsey Hall”

★★★★★

written by on 01/10/2020

After homeschooling our daughter for 3 years till the end of Primary School, we felt that we would like more curriculum structure and tutor support as she went into secondary school level and leading to exams so we enrolled with Wolsey Hall for Year 7. From our first interactions, Wolsey Hall have been excellent. Enrolement was quick and easy, books sent and courses up online very quickly. The Canvas system which Wolsey Hall uses for subject resources, assignment submission and feedback works very well. We have been very impressed with the standard of the tutors our daughter has. Assignments have been marked very quickly and my daughter has enjoyed being able to chat to tutors on Skype calls through the course. Tutors are very approachable and happy to respond to any questions durung the year. My daughter has really enjoyed the curriculum for each of her subjects and Wolsey Hall provides excellent support in terms of further resources as well as the textbooks. We have all benefitted from having the support from the tutors and the student progress manager this year and my daughter is looking forward to her next year of studies.

“You will not regret homeschool with Wolsey Hall”

I have been homeschooling my eldest for 4 years with Wolsey due to her being bullied at Grammar School. After working through KS3, She is now studying her iGCSE's and is very happy with studying at home. Our Progress Manager is always checking in on her progress and has been a great help during those times when it can be difficult to motivate a teenager to study! The tutors give brilliant feedback and are encouraging with their replies. The standard of work is so exceptional that, as a result of these uncertain times during covid, we have decided to deregister our other two children and have enrolled them on the Primary courses. This will ensure that they have uninterrupted education at home. So far, the Primary Yr3 phase (which I haven't experienced before) is really well structured and you are given very helpful daily and weekly lesson plans as I obviously have to be more hands on with the younger two. I would thoroughly recommend Wolsey Hall to anyone considering taking the scary leap into homeschooling. There is someone at the end of a Skype call or email whenever you, as a parent, needs support so you don't ever feel like you are left doing this on your own.
