“Not bad but not worth it for the money.”

★★☆☆☆

Just a few days ago, I wrote a review for OSC on Trustpilot giving my very honest opinion and I actually originally gave them 3 stars but unfortunately, now I am only giving them 2 because they reported my review (despite giving some positives and some improvements that I have noticed that they could make to improve the student experience). They gave the reason as wanting my review taken down because they thought I was not actually a student studying there as they couldn't find me on the system so I had to provide evidence to Trustpilot for it which could be a lot of hassle for people who are leaving reviews that are under 4 stars, which is perhaps why you don't see many negative reviews because they report anything that is even slightly negative. The experience that I have had is as follows:

I am currently studying Biology, Chemistry and RS A-Level with OSC. It was very easy to enroll with them and received my study packs really quickly. I would say that the booklets they provide you with in the study pack are quite useful, but it is best to get the exam board approved textbooks and other study material along with it because the specifications recently changed and I have found that the booklets still contain information from the old specification. Some important topics are missed out so it is recommended that you study using the new specification to ensure that nothing examined on is going to be missed out (you can't 100% rely on the study material that OSC gives you). I have only been in contact with my science tutor so far, but from what I have experienced, they do not answer questions properly outside of the 'activity' questions in the booklet as I asked for help with some questions in the textbook but received a response with some YouTube videos which weren't directly relevant to my question and nothing more. I have not had any experience with the marking yet but all in all, for the price I don't think it's worth it for the material - you could get more out of it by buying a textbook, using free online study material and perhaps, getting an online tutor yourself (I would definitely recommend doing this if you are a resit student like me who has done Biology and Chemistry before).

They responded with "Our A Levels all contain up-to-date information from the new specifications as well as all the topics required to complete the course. Our A Level tutors are committed to helping their students and providing additional materials that they think will aid their students studies."

I was particularly disappointed with this because as a student who has just finished Sixth Form and done my A-Levels, I am very familiar with the content that is in the new specification due to being taught for 2 years of it. I am also following the specification (ticking off topics that I am covering) that can be found on the exam board's website whilst studying and some topics that are in the booklets are not relevant anymore because they were on the old specification that was taught up until 2015. Some topics are missing from the booklets as I mentioned before which could cost students some marks in the paper if they did not realise that there were content which was going to be examined - I suspect they reused all the material from the old specification that they made and hoped that no one would pick up on it since the new A-Level content is about 80% still the same as the old content.

Something that I have also noticed is that most of the positive reviews that you find is to do with their enrollment and customer service which I agree was very easy and something that I did not have problems with, but hardly anyone has reviewed the quality of their study material/actual studying experience as most people have stated that they are "excited to start their course". So if you're looking into doing A-Levels with OSC, then I would say the study packs are definitely not worth £429 for each subject (even the tutor experience wasn't that great so couldn't make up for it like I would have hoped). This may be good if it's been a long time since you've studied an intensive course, but don't expect to achieve the best that you can with just relying on the OSC study material and the tutor. As I said, if you're someone who is looking to boost their A-Level grades, then just do as many past paper questions as you can and if you're looking to do a new A-Level that you haven't done before, get the textbook and a tutor if you feel like you need one as I feel like OSC is aimed more at adults who have not recently studied for a qualification.
