I bought contents insurance online - then realised I needed buildings and contents. I rang straight away and explained my mistake. I was given a new quote - however it wasn’t competitive. I decided to cancel the contents insurance and had just bought 15 minutes before online - only to be told there was a £25 cancellation admin fee!!!!!! “Best avoid this company”

Quoted me £500 for van insurance on confused for my personal van, which I accepted, only to be told that my 9 years company car insurance no claims is not valid, as I cannot get letters quoting every single registration of company cars I've had over 9 years. I change my company car twice a year, so they want me to remember 18 car registrations!. So then they doubled my insurance to £1000 approx. If you want to cancel within cooling of period they charge £35, we all know it costs nothing like that and when I asked for an itemised bill they refused. BEWARE!  I would not recommend them or ever use them again. I signed up for my car insurance, i used the form on confused.com. The form clearly states "CLAIMS AND CONVICTIONS" i declared both my at fault accidents as requested that were claims on my policy and got my insurance. A few days later i got a letter from them saying i hadnt declared an accident THAT WASNT MY FAULT! Why would i declare accidents that are not my fault? “Never auto-renew!!”

Do not ever allow this company to auto-renew! They quoted me a price 27% higher than the prior year for the same cover. Then when I said that I wouldn’t be taking out insurance with them due to their extortionate price hike, they miraculously found me a price a third (equivalent to £45) cheaper!  They’ll never offer you the best deal straight away, which I think lacks credibility and integrity. I hate companies like this who exploit you and especially capitalise on auto-renew. Watch out!… Read Full Review

“Shocking.- in applying for contents only insurance”

Online policy wording indicated contents out of the home was incLuded but when called to ask about sonething else was told it wasnt included. Think policy eording is deluberately unclear and misleading, i only took this cos it indicated this was included. Had i understood they werent i would have gone elsewhere as cheapee elsewhere for same policy! “Not good at all”

May look good on paper but the worse company to deal with when claiming was sent around the houses as these are just the front company finally got someone to come and look at my ceiling in the kitchen (only took 10 days) after a leak in the bathroom above. Because we had taken the bathroom out to get under the floor to find the leak they then said we could not claim as it could have been the seal around the bath and they couldn't tell. “Unprofessional and Dishonest”

I rang twice and emailed on May 22 '17 to tell DD that l would not be entering into a second contract with them and completed payments for a one year contract. Out of the blue DD have sent a threatening letter asking for a large penalty charge saying l withdrew from a contract they received full payments for, 8 days early and they are now lookin to take me to court if l don't pay this trumped up fine. Hi, I felt I wasted my precious time yesterday and got nowhere, so I'm reluctant to go through the rigmarole again! The customer services guy was very pleasant and tried to help, also getting his supervisor to look into it. Ultimately they put the blame on Compare the Market and the underwriters, saying they were just the man in the middle! Apparently none of the underwriters you use will insure childminders for accidental damage and the fault was with Compare the Market for letting me believe it was included. They are going to take it up with them to prevent recurrence. The only thing they could offer me was a full refund so that I could look elsewhere. Time running short, I decided to take a gamble and hope I don't have the need to use it this year (I never have needed it yet in 7 years of childminding!) and go back to my old insurer next year.

“Check your documents! Computer glitch left me without...”

Went via a comparison site and purchased home insurance with contents. Good price and easy process. Got docs through and contents cover was left blank! Easy to miss as it was included on the site. Phoned up next day, they blamed an IT issue that quoted the wrong price, wouldn't honour original price, quoted me £50 more or £35 to cancel for their mistake!!! “Dial Direct Home Insurance Renewed without me agreeing”

I had Dial Direct Insurance for 4years. I never made a claim and until this year they've been ok with correspondence. This year they renewed my policy without sending me any email neither post (after me complaining they informed they send a letter, which I never received) and the monthly premium got increased by 57% to be exact! Dial Direct automatically renewed our policy, without informing us of the price increase. Not so much of a problem until I looked into it and the had upped the monthly payment from £27.00 to £218.00. Rang them and they said it was correct but they could reduce it to £90.00 per month. After a little research I found I could get the same cover for less than £90.00 for the year. “Hidden charges will screw you”

I phoned to change my address - pretty straightforward with any other service provider - not so much with dialdirect. The process itself is fine: give your details so that they can confirm it is you so that they can update the system. Then they advise that there is a £40 administration fee to implement a change of address!
