“Fun to hit – so you’ll actually use it!”

Above and Beyond

One month after I’d purchased the CORBAG, I still hadn’t received it, nor even a shipping notice. When I got in touch with Coordination Technologies, they found out that my order hadn’t been fulfilled because I hadn’t been charged for S&H during checkout. I expected them to just say ‘oops’ and cancel my order, but no, they actually mailed the item. Considering that S&H to France should have been 36 USD (I asked) for an item costing only 50 USD, they were losing money. I expressed my surprise at the gesture, and got this answer: ‘We don't make many mistakes around here – but when we do we try and make it right.’ Well, colour me impressed.

As it stands, had I been charged 36 USD for shipping at the time, I wouldn’t have bought the CORBAG. But now that I’ve tried it, I (grudgingly) would. It’s become my favourite piece of workout equipment. Their slogan, ‘Fun to hit – so you’ll actually use it!’ is perfectly accurate.

Originally, I wanted a heavy bag, but the support beam in my exercise space isn’t sturdy enough, and I don’t very much like stands (they’re wobbly and restrict your movements). A freestanding bag was another option I considered, but reviews are rather mixed, even for the most expensive models. Ditto for self-righting bags. Next, I looked into double-ended bags, and would have bought one … had I not stumbled upon the CORBAG. The info and videos on the official website got me cautiously interested, and for 50 bucks I decided to give it a try.

Verdict: It isn’t a heavy bag (duh). There’s too little resistance to justify hitting it hard. Nothing unexpected there. What I didn’t expect is that the CORBAG would have some advantages over a heavy bag: It forces you to move, back and forth and around; it requires more speed and precision; and it keeps you on your toes by swinging a lot less predictably than any other kind of punching bag I’ve tried.
