I've used Crown paints for years and have always found them to be of excellent quality, so much so that I always recommend Crown to friends. However, as a perfectionist and in an effort to keep my hall doors brilliant white I opted to switch from Solo to their 'Water Based Satin'. Big, big costly mistake that has driven us to to the depths of despair! Let me explain more...from the minute I started to paint it was obvious that this paint is not fit for purpose. The coverage was poor and it was impossible to avoid leaving scratchy brushmarks. With my never be beaten attitude I plodded on and after 3 coats and 2 weeks of work the finish didn't look too bad. My state of achievement was short lived though as almost immediately the paint started to scratch/flake. We are 2 pensioners who take great pride in our home so we knew this was not wear and tear, it was as stated previously the paint is not fit for purpose. We are absolutely furious that a company such as Crown, a company that I trusted would allow such a poor quality product to be released to market without testing it's application and durability qualities. We are now in the process of sanding the doors again and urge Crown to take this paint off the shelves before other customers are hoodwinked into thinking there is a short route to painting perfection/satisfaction.

To add to my review...this is day 2 of sanding first door. It is so time consuming and effort driven that we are working is shifts. We have tried various methods and we have just discovered that a glass scraper is bringing the paint off in sheets. Thought we would share that tip with the rest of Crown's unhappy customers.

it 2020 and I have mostly used Crown Paints and this is soul destroying. Crown Stays White Quick dry Satin. As per other users, the paint seems to lift where your work overlaps. I have tried 3 different quality brushes, no difference. I have come to the conclusion that this paint should be poured on for a fine finish. I have never put on two undercoats, rubbed down then applied THREE coats of this paint and STILL not been happy. As you say this paint is not fit for purpose.
