Pricing still higher than quoted.
Have had to call repeatedly but no one fixes the problem. Instead the talk america customer service reps are rude and insulting.

They Started To Charge Me For A Line That Was Disc
They started to charge me for a line that was disconnected 2 years ago.
They changed rates without any notice. On the bill it had a string of other charges without any explanation. The signal quality was absolutely horrible: noise, delay and echo etc. If you try to reach customer service you have to speak with a stupid machine or wait at least 15 minutes to be connected to a human. Also, you have to call customer service only during work time i.e. you have to spend your work time fixing the headache.
Talk America have changed business names 4 times in the last 5 years!
I remember "FoneTel", "LDMI" and "Cavalier". I forget what they were called before "FoneTel".

I've been trying for three months to get them to transfer my phone numbers to Sunrocket, and they've rejected the request twice! They are holding me hostage! I will never recommend Talk America.

I Switched From My Local Provider To Talk America
I switched from my local provider to Talk America in order to get better service and save money each month. I could not have had a more horrible experience. The hours of operation are only until 5PM my time zone and once you do connect you have to go through an automated voice response system, then if you are lucky you will get to hold for 10 to 30 or more minutes for a live person (assuming you dont get dissconnected). Other than the service availability issue there were problems with getting anything done. I had called to make a change on my account and it took them 4 weeks to go through the local phone company to get it done. They are only a middle man, making things more difficult. I had problems with getting over billed as well, and it took months for them to correct it. When I called to disconnect they could not even shut my line off (though if I didn't pay my bill it was shut off immediately with a $50 reconnect fee). I just dont understand how such a company can stay in business. I do not recommend Talk America to anyone looking for phone service. I switched to a voip provider and got a ton of features and free long distance for $25 a month. I was paying $45 a month with Talk America, and NO features.. I am so glad to be done with this company!

The Talk America Service Reps Didn't Close My Acco
The Talk America service reps didn't close my account properly. I ended up calling about 8 times just to get the service properly closed. They charged me for an extra month that I didn't use. They are closed on weekends, and the automated system makes any direct contact with agents an overall frustrating experience. Once I got to an agent, the agents were unhelpful and not at all pleasant.
If you don't like grey hairs, I would recommend you use another provider. You might even save a buck or two.
