Avoid This Energy Company

I have been charged a collections visit fee of £49.87 even though I am paying my bill. Along with their high gas prices and bad customer service I will be moving to another gas company. Avoid them like the plague.

Literally Can't Get Hold Of Anyone - Avoid At All Costs

I moved into a new flat, and was told the previous tenants were using Southern Electric for Gas and Electric, so to make things easier I thought I'd stay with them, just a quick phone call to set up an account. Or so I thought.

I tried to get in touch with them at weekends, weekdays, mornings, evenings, and each time was on hold on an 0845 number for at least half an hour before just giving up, whilst listening to endless Bruno Mars songs on repeat and being told my call would be answered shortly. I had to end up submitting an online form to apply, and didn't hear anything for a month. In the end I just thought I'd keep using the gas and electric as eventually they'd want paying, but still no one got in touch.

In the end I stayed on the phone for an hour one morning (when the lines should be pretty clear) and eventually got through and a payment set up, which to be fair was ok, but this is 6 weeks after I had moved in, and spent countless hours and money so far.

I submitted a complaint but heard nothing back which is absolutely disgraceful, the cost of the calls I had made was considerable. Considering how hard it was to get through as a new customer I'm surprised they have any. I've seen the new advert the money they spent on that would have been better suited recruiting more staff.

Have you tried their new customers number. I hear energy firms tend to answer them quickly. Also go to say no to 0870 numbers and get a freephone number or a local number for them. And then make a complaint. Either write it or email and threaten to leave. By the way there are a lot cheaper deals elsewhere. Especially smaller companies. I am with SSE and they normally answer within a couple of minutes. They do have the best customer service, but disappointly they won't lower their prices even though the cost of wholesale gas has come down. I am considering leaving in the new year.

Have To Say That The Customer Service With Souther

Have to say that the Customer Service with Southern Electric and Gas are brilliant - you may be on hold for a few minutes but the advisors are always very polite and try to be as helpful as possible. I called them this morning as there was clearly a problem with out gas supply (boiler and cooker not working properly) and they sent out an engineer within the hour (despite heavy snowfall!) who quickly identified and fixed the problem free of charge and explained the issue clearly and helpfully so we could ensure it didn't happen again. Very impressed indeed and now toasty warm again!

Despite Using 650,000kwh Per Year Southern Electri

Despite using 650,000kWh per year Southern Electric Gas have classified us with Transco as a small domestic user. This has now effected the comparitor quotes I am able to obtain from the more helpful competitors. When trying to sort this problem out I was passed through to three departments all of whom could not seem to help me.

I Would Use Southern Electric Again For My Gas Sup

I would use Southern Electric again for my gas supply. They offer a decent price and reasonable customer service. However they didn't sort out an issue with previous supplier very quickly so we were over charged for gas.
